cant . . .stop. . . playing warrior games

I know alot of peole think these games suck. Some say it is the same, lame, repetetive, hack and slash, button mashing retread of the same past 20 odd games. I know, I know, I've heard that plenty.
But I love these games!! I love the Dynasty Warriors games, the Samurai Warriors games. Be it regular, empires, or tactics. These games never get old to me.Big Smile [:D]

Same here, they are awesome. N3 was also as fun in my opinion, and bladestorm, is a must buy as well.

ya the gameplay has always been a fun mix catering to those who just want to play mindlessly or with some thought and planning. i feel like the biggest problem for the series right now is its ps2 graphics, but hopefully bladestorm will change all of that.

I can honestly say that the only thing that I don't like about these games, outside of the fact that the graphics just haven't evolved yet on 360 version, is one little gameplay thing. . .in the Empire games, it drives me so friggin out of my mind when enemy oficers get low on health, they run away!!! Why do they need to run like ***? Face your demise like a true warrior! Besides, I don't want to have to chase you down. Friggin pain in the ***.

You need the 'surround' policy card... ;) then they will not be able to flee. Even if they don't, i just jump on a horse and ride them down ;)

My first DW game ever was DW5:E, now I'm hooked!
Funny how that happened exactly like I said it would...

Re: cant . . .stop. . . playing warrior games

My first was DW 3, but I didnt have much of an interest. I didn't know what to do or where to go. But I sat down and played DW4 and I got used to it and turned out it was alot simpler than I was making it out to be. So far I've laided to rest DW4 (ps2), DW5 (xbox), DW 5 Empires (360), SW (ps2), SW 2 (360, although I only have two more officers to get), and I'm still pluggin away at SW 2 Empires. I even enjoyed the Mystic Warrior game on gamecube.

N3 was ok. It looked great, played like a true DW game, but it seriously lacked the sheer number and variety of characters the warriors series boasts, which is one of the things I love about warriors games. I don't play the handhelds versions though. And I'm really interested to see what Koei is going to do with the Warriors franchise on the Wii. There is one so far that I'm aware of, but I haven't heard much about it. Bladestorm sounds great too, with a new medevil theme.

Has anyone played Devil Kings on PS2? Once again, a picture perfect copy of the warriors gameplay, but from Capcom. It was made by the same team that gave us Resident Evil and Devil May Cry. It had a whole fictional Japanese/Chinese them with lots of great anime cutscenes and really cool characters.

Here's your link :

http://koeiwarriors.simgames.net/mo-story.php

Basically you have a whole section of the site dedicated to this 'musou orochi' whatever that means ... with screens and even trailers ...

And also a coverage of all DW games

Please comment :)

Everytime they come out with a new Warrior's game I said to myself "sorry, not this time, it's just the same thing over and over again"  but I always ended up buying it, because it's the right same thing. ^_~

ya know, i found myself thinking that, only buying every other game or two, maybe renting here and there, but now that these games are on the 360, and I'm getting acheivements? Now i just cant stop putting my money in Koeis pocket. i just have to tell myself be patient, dont buy the game as soon as it comes out, cause none of these games are worth the full 50-60 bucks. just wait, give it month or so and i'll find it used for around 20 bucks.

This is where Koei is smart, they know it's a rehash (only worse culprit is Capcom) yet the games usually retail for 39.99 new from what I've seen.
Funny how that happened exactly like I said it would...

I been addicted to Koei games since Romace of the 3 Kingdoms/Nobungas Ambition for the NES, as well as Ghengis Khan, which I never beat compared to the first 2.
If you ever get a chance try to play those old Koei NES games, Uncharted Waters was really addicted, I think 2 months of my life was spent on that game, lol

The Romance series would be a welcome addition to my 360 library, considering the series has gone on now for 11 games so far, spanning ps1 to ps2, with the newest one sharing a version on the PC.

I'd love to see Kessen too.

I have never played one of these games before this one, but I cannot stop.  I originally started in the default mode and was getting clobbered, so I started an Easy Empire Mode and I still don't see it as completely easy.  I do lose battles, but I have a good time playing.  I can play for 6 hours, and I always wan to see what I can do in my next battle.   Great Game I am Hooked.....with a capital H.

I'm the same....

Any other games franchise I would lambast for just releasing the same game with the same characters with the same fights over and over and over again... but somehow KOIE manage to get away with it with me.

Still, a next gen update of the series would be sweet.

Re : Re: cant . . .stop. . . playing warrior games

Yeah the next big step the serie could take is a new engine :) leveling the camera so you get less depth of field is not a solution to the depth of field problem .... they done it with N3 why can't koei do it too ?

Just imagine any battle in DW or SW with a real depth of field ...even blurry ... i guess we should make a post with all our wondeful ideas to improve the franchise !
