Okay, still no definitive answers on HOW to fix this problem now that we know what it is. By the way, thanks Lucky 13X for checking into this for us. I've put in a very frustrating 3.5 hours with customer service over 5 different telephone conversations....all for a 5 dollar game. Still no one has a fix for this yet. I understand, I screwed up by putting my harddrive on another's xbox (I was just trying to keep from moving my xbox around so much, had no idea this would be an issue)...I just want to figure out how to play Geometry Wars full version now. The most frustrating thing is that I've had to explain this situation completely from scratch every single time I call in (even after giving my call reference number) because no one in Customer Service has heard of this problem. This is followed by a lot of them putting me on hold why the research the problem only to come back and tell me to try something that I've already tried to tell them that I've tried. I can't fault them but so much, they've been genuinely interested in trying to help me out its just that none of them know what to say. I've even had a couple agents flat out tell me things that just aren't true. Those calls take the longest, the ones where I have to convince them that yes, typically you CAN play these games offline. I've even had to explain what the marketplace arcade games were to one agent!
Sorry, had to vent that for second. As it stands now, they think my Harddrive is defective and want to send me a new one. I completely disagree, because I can download Geometry wars right now on my harddrive and play it offline on my buddies console. They've told me to delete it from my harddrive and redownload it on my console. When it do that, it doesn't play offline on my console or my buddies console. But if I delete it and then download it onto my harddrive attached to my buddies console (as I did initially), I can play it offline on his console. The problem has something to do with the fact that my online profileor account remembers what games I've downloaded, because even when I delete them from my harddrive and redownload, it doesn't charge me any Microsoft Points. Which makes me believe that I'm just redownloaded that same game, tagged for his console, every time regardless of which console I'm on. I believe that if there were some way to make my account "forget" which games I've purchased, erase my purchase history I guess, that a redownload on my console would work. This is, so far in my mind, the only explanation that could cover what's happening to me and Cloudpiercer. I mean, Cloudpiercer had a whole new console and harddrive when he downloaded, and its doing it to him too. That makes me believe that its the online account that is remembering which console we've downloaded to and its giving us the same download each time...unfortunately for him his original console is no longer in his possession but is back with Microsoft due to defects. That's the next step I'm gonna try to talk to CS about, but I'm really dreading the 1 hour phone call, starting over from scratch explaining what happened.
