Flag and Sol Citadel Achievement

These are the locations of the flags and sol citadels

There are four flags hidden throughout the game.  These flags occur in areas 1,
3, 5, and 6.  All flags are along a horizontal line across the terrain.  The
only way to uncover a flag is to bomb it so you will have to lay a string of
bombs along the entire horizontal line.  This basically means moving up
quickly, dealing with enemies quickly, and dropping your bombs quickly.  Once a
flag is uncovered, you must fly over it to get the benefits from it.

+--------+
FLAG 1
+--------+

The first flag is located in the first river you encounter after you start the
game.  Look for the three Grobdas in a row.  Just above them is a river that
cuts horizontally across the terrain.  Just bomb the river from left to right
and around the bank closest to you.  The flag should appear.

+--------+
FLAG 2
+--------+

After you get past the plates, look up and to the right.  There is a little
lake with a small river feeding into the ocean.  Start in the middle of the
lake and bomb toward the little river.  The flag should appear around where the
river dumps into the ocean.

+--------+
FLAG 3
+--------+

When you cross the first ocean, you will eventually see a dock/harbor at the
top.  The flag is located around the horizontal line that the longest pier
projecting out is part of.  You will need to quickly bomb that entire length to
find and get the flag before the bottom scrolls your Solvalou too far up.

+--------+
FLAG 4
+--------+

You will see a big bird picture on the desert.  At the lowest point of its
tailfeathers (in the lower right corner), start to bomb horizontally from right
to left.  The flag will appear.

____________________
/ 8.3  Sol Citadels /__________________________________________________________
--------------------

These structures require you to bomb them once to cause them to surface.  They
look like large storage tanks or grain silos.  You then need to bomb them again
to destroy them.  You have a potential to collect several hundred thousand
points by taking out these structures.  They come in groups of 1, 4, or 8.
Unlike flags, these structures are always in the same place.  There are six
sets of Sol Citadels.

+-----------+
FIRST SET
+-----------+

One in area 2.  When you see the three Grobdas in a row on the road, start
laying bombs in the area around the cul-de-sac below the last tank in a right
and diagonal-down point.  The citadel will be even with the cul-de-sac.

+------------+
SECOND SET
+------------+

One in area 3.  When you see the Garu Bara, go to the left of the Garu Bara and
start bombing.  This is also the area that the second flag can be found.

+-----------+
THIRD SET
+-----------+

Four in area 9.  There is a clear area right before you tangle with the second
Andor Genesis Mothership.  Where the road splits around the woods, start to lay
bombs a little below the bottom edge of the road that goes to the right.  You
should uncover four Sol Citadels.

+------------+
FOURTH SET
+------------+

Eight in area 13.  At the point the desert ends, there is a little grass, then
the air field starts.  Use the birds leg as a reference and fly straight up.
When the bombsight glows, start bombing.  This will be the lower left Sol
Citadel of the group which is arranged in two rows of four citadels.  You will
be hard pressed to get all eight citadels.

+-----------+
FIFTH SET
+-----------+

Four in area 14.  After the plates roll by, look for where two roads merge into
one road.  At the top edge of the slanted right hand road, start dropping bombs
to uncover some more citadels.

+-----------+
SIXTH SET
+-----------+

Four in area 15.  Look for a forest on the left side.  There will be a small
clearing and then a river.  Bomb the small clearing to bring the citadels up.
There will be very intense ground fire in this location so be especially
watchful.

I got this from a FAQ at Gamefags by War Doc , Credit to him.

That group of 8 citadels listing seems to be incorrect.  I have redone level 13 several times and cannot see any large bird or desert.  Is it actually "level" 12 or 14, maybe?  I really want those citadel acheivements!

You can get the achievement before that if you hit the individual ones before that.

Maybe YOU can, but I suck at this game!  I can't make it all the way through 10+ stages to get this acheivement, so I wanted to go right to the big stack of 8, getting the "reveal 5" points.  So, again, which level should I be selecting?

you dont need to make it that far to get the 5 sol citadel achieve.  just die right after you uncover one and you can uncover it again.  it counts.  trust me, thats how i got the 3 sol achieve.  i uncovered the first one, went on to the second single sol citadel, then died and hit the second one again.  i was very close to five using this method.  i get the first single sol.  die.  then get the first single sol again and get the extra guy in the river.  this makes two sols revealed with two ships remaining.  then, at 20k you get an extra ship.  by this time, you should be near the second single sol.  reaveal this sol and you can now die two times and reveal it twice more for a total of five.

i had four down last night and died right before revealing it for a fifth time.  so close.  this worked for three and will work for five if i can do it just right.  then, i only have two achievs left.

Re: Flag and Sol Citadel Achievement
so, here is my strategy for the five sol citadel achieve and it worked in a handful of tries this evening.  hope it helps someone.

go for the first single sol citadel.  dont worry about destroying it, just reveal it and stay alive.  then, immediately get ready for the extra life in the river.  its necessary and if you miss it, just restart.  you'll see in a second.  then, try to get as many points as possible before the first wave of monliths to get close to an extra ship (20K).  try to stay alive at all costs.  if you are not even close to an extra ship, restart.  if you got there, or are close enough to get it in the next few short lives, continue.  at this point you should have (or will soon have) four ships showing on the screen and one sol citadel revealed.  (i think you see where i am going here)

next, go for the second single sol citadel by the pyramid.  at this point, the mono's are your only enemy and you can be relatively safe with your four lives.  right after you reveal it by the pyramid, just die and repeat.  this method makes it a lot easier since all you have to deal with are the monoliths (lol, or whatever they are called, dont remember) for the next few lives.  achievement unlocked

I can follow everything listed execpt you left out one crucial detail:

What the h.e.l.l. is a Grobda so I know enough that this is the area the flag is in?

its easier to start level 9.

There are 4 Sol Citadel. Reveal all 4 and die. Now you will start again befor that 4 Sol Citadel and you only need 1 more.

Worked at first try.

What the *** is wrong with people on this site having comprehension issues?

I didn't ask WHERE it is I asked WHAT it is..

You need to explain yourself fully instead of cutting corners

Now lets start with the original question I asked and then you can talk about other stuff but for now:

What the h.e.l.l. is a Grobda so I know what I am looking for in order to kill it?

Post a pic of what this damn thing looks like

Then after you're done with that then post up exactly what stage it's in and where in the stage it is becuase what you showed could be anywhere in any stage

find it yourself then.  all of them are pictured so maybe you have comprehension issues.

edit:  if all you are trying to find is the first special flag, you do have issues.  its very easy to find and very clearly pictured and explained in text above.  my suggestion, re-read.

Won't let me edit my post or I would have added this to it

In otherwords there are 2 things wrong with those pics in the link:

A) Post up pictures of what exactly it is that is supposed to being destroyed because posting up pics after it's already destroyed or revealed is not going to help someone who doesn't know what they are supposed to be destroying.

B) Say what level this stuff is on (And saying area 1 or 9 or some other random number means nothing) This game has stages not areas. Say the stage and stop using the word area because it's an incorrect term.

People need to be 100% clear about what they are talking about and post things as if no one has ever played the game instead of taking the person who is posting it's point of view and applying that knowledge onto everyone else.

You are completely retarded? Find them on my own...you post crappy info then tell me I need to find them on my own..Your an idiot

Those areas shown in those pictures DO NOT EXPLAIN OR SAY ANYWHERE

1) What stage those are on.

2) What I'm supposed to be destroying

Don't tell me I have comprehension issues when your the idiot who posted those pics which are half assed and missing info.....Dumb A.S.S.

You a total retard you keep telling me to go look at pics that explain nothing

A very simple question to you dumb A.S.S

WHAT STAGE ARE THOSE PICTURES TAKEN FROM

AND

WHAT NEEDS TO GET DESTROYED

Those pics will only do anyone any good when the 2 things I have asked you at least 4 times now are explained.

All those pics could have been taken anywhere in the game on any stage.

So when you decide to post the missing info then it becomes easier to find.. Right now you have shown pics with what gets done but not where it is or what gets destroyed.

What part of that are you having trouble grasping the part where you failed to say what stage or the part that you don't explain what gets destroyed or both parts?

man your dumb...and a douche about it.

wow, how does stuff like this get through the mods?  who knows.

anyway, beyond my better judgement, i will clarify a couple things for you.  first, I didnt post the information.  IF YOU READ, you will see that i just linked the information that another poster had given.  its a good guide and everyone else in here seemed to get it okay.  second, the text description you quoted says EXACTLY where the first flag is and its pictured in the pic guide.

here, let me quote it for you since you said it doesnt tell you where it is in the game:
The first flag is located in the first river you encounter after you start the
game.

pretty clear.

The both of you should be banned from this forum for flaming and being stupid......

Listen here you idiots this was copied and pasted right from that link right out of the 1st pic description you both say are so clear

The first flag can be found along the leading edge of the river shown above. It usually is hidden in the left half of the screen, so start bombing in the center and move out to the left. Drop a bomb every ½" until you see the flag, and then pass over it.

It says no stage, and shows nothing

and a lame *** generic comment about it being on the rivers edge.......hey idiots....the game is laoded with rivers edges

Now that the both of you have been owned BY ME with your so called clear instructions.

GO ahead and try to argue this point.

All the pics are like that.

One last reply regarding this:

3 things here:

1) What does my gammer score and this being a silever account have to do with the 2 of you being wrong?

2) Something like this only becomes a troll issue because of people like you posting false information then going to no end to say your right even after being proven wrong?

3) Posting false information is grounds for a ban (It's in the TOS) so if anyone should get a ban it's you because you're the one starting problems.

All I did was correct something you said was incorrect and asked for an actual answer and to stop being vauge and asking how thats clear when it doesn't even explain what stage those pics were taken on (Which it doesn't) and you went off on a atangine swearing up and down that it was clear and that i should read---but as soon as I copied and pasted the info right next to the pic SHOWING it explains nothing about where it was taken from...You somehow have nothing further to say about it.

You made a mistake... act like an adult, deal with it, and move on.

Hahaha this is the funniest one.  I used that exact guide when this game came out on XBLA to get my flags and Sol Citadels, and look at my achievements.  Flag - Check.  Sol Citadel - Check.  5 Sol Citadels - Check.  I found the guide extremely useful.  I can't believe I never thought of that when he was in Castlevania:  It's gotta be a troll account.  And we were helping him and forgiving him over and over again.
