PC drivers for chatpad
When will the pc drivers for the chatpad be available. IF you will not make it available will you change packaging so it indicates that product will not work with pc. This would make an amazing controler attachment for a multimedia pc, if you had drivers that would recognize the device.

Re: PC drivers for chatpad
There is a need for this driver and it's a shame Microsoft didn't think to include one for XP/Vista. They also need to release mapping software for the controller that includes mouse mapping to the analog sticks. You can calibrate the controller through windows but the analog mapping and triggers are all wrong. It's supposed to auto map to games that are supported by it , but there they dropped the ball. A program similar to Nyko's Air-Max flow would be perfect . I know theres 3rd party mapping software out there. But why not get it from the source and for free, ... one of the 2 outside software I've found is a $20 shareware program.

I too assumed there were PC drivers based on the packaging.  I do hope there are plans to create a driver for this chatpad so it will work with my controller and wireless PC interface.

Re: PC drivers for chatpad
Here here!  I bought this last week and have been endlessly searching for
some type of emulator software to make this work on my PC in place of my
keyboard and mouse.  The ability to be free to walk/move around and type
would be almost invaluable to me.  If anyone knows of any workarounds, that would be most helpful.

There is a free third party mapping solution called joy2key (google the name it will give you the download site). It seems to work on any game that I tried so far, It also works as a great mouse replacement on the vista operating system. Still need to have drivers that work and recognize the chatpad on the PC.

Re: PC drivers for chatpad

Well I finally sent an email to the Xbox support site as well as called the Xbox support site. I spoke to a very nice representative how basically had there hands tied on the issue. but I did send an email and they acknowledged an email with the this and other official forum postings links on the issue. I requested that if they no not have an immediate answer to at least respond to the postings in their official forums. so they know about the problem, they know about this and other postings on the Xbox and the official Microsoft forum. I requested that someone from Microsoft at least acknowledge the postings and issues by responding on the forums.

the links that I gave are:

I hope there is some response to the inquiries on at least one of there forums, that would at least indicate some concern and respect for the people who have taken the time to bring this problem to them.

Re: PC drivers for chatpad
Do we have any updates on this yet?  I really want to be able to use the pad with Vista media center.  It would absolutely perfect.

What about using girder or the like to take raw inputs?  Are we even getting an input stream from the device?  I don't think we are since the device doesn't even seem to be getting power.

There are quite a few people interested in using the chatpad on pc.  Both on the media center side of things and the car computer user side of things.

This is the response I got back from MS support when I emailed them.  WTH?

"Thank you for writing Xbox Customer Support.

We are sorry for the inconvenience and as I understand you want to know if chatpad can be used in your PC.

The Xbox 360 Messenger Kit is for use exclusively with Xbox 360 wired or wireless controllers and with the Xbox 360 video game and entertainment system.

Chatting with your friends and family on Xbox LIVE is easy when you use the Xbox 360 Messenger Kit. This device easily connects to the Microsoft Xbox 360 controller. The Xbox 360 Messenger Kit provides easy-to-use chat capabilities while maintaining gameplay functionality in one easy-to-hold device."

That is crap!

The package words it a little bit differently.  It definitely says "Windows based PCs" on the outside packaging...

Re: PC drivers for chatpad

What the *** is microsoft thinking or waiting for?  They are holding up a big advancement for pc users.  A controlller functioning as a keyboard and mouse would be next to heaven.  Not to mention wireless capabilities aswell.   Save me all the pain of holding my back up while leaning forward to type and use a mouse.  Thats an invention thats long overdue and I've beenw waiting for it since windows 3.1.  I even have a blueprint for a keyboard mouse controller that would give x-box 360 players the ability to compete with veteran pc games( u know the type that play counter strike and unrealtournament).  The mouse is superior to a joystick when it comes to shooters and many other game and program types!    But microsoft has a device in existence thats close enuff to my design and the only thing holding all of us pc gamers and users is a GOT-DAMN DRIVER.  That's F@##$% rediculous!  How could such a billion dollar company could not have predicted this?   I mean even the playstation 3 controller has a mini keyboard that works on window compatible PC's.  How F@#%@#^@^# bad does that look?     Well  heres a mouse/ keyboard emulator that will let u program only the 360 controller to function as a mouse and keyboard.    Download JoyToKey (v 3.79) from here.   Do your research on it its pretty good.   They should implement it with the controller.

Re: PC drivers for chatpad
hopefully some1 will come up with the drivers eventually.  I use my 360 controller as a free-roam wireless mouse when im on my couch so I can avoid using media center software which I hate so much.  I use joy2key and map the sticks to be the mouse.  I have a few functions mapped for the buttons but with chatpad support I could have the whole dam keyboard and everything :)

Come on MS.  Make it part of the sprind dashboard update at least, which I assume will be out around late may

I use a Hava Platinum HD for my videos
Windows Movie Maker for editing

On the version I bought it was prety clear that it only worked with the 360. Granted, it didn't have a list of systems it doesn't work with, but that would be a long list. Wink [;)]

Warning: can't be used on PC, Wii, PS3, Atari 2600, ZX81.

If you folks have any coding background, the ChatPad is supported in XNA 2.0.

Unfortunately, there's still no driver support for Windows.

has anyone tried using it in a Games For Windows app? i think that's what they meant when the put "on Xbox LIVE® and Windows-based PCs" someone who has the chatpad and a G4W should plug it in and fire it up....otherwise it's just a thought....

Add me to the 'bought chatpad to use with PC' crowd. I seriously wonder why the big M$ isn't even replying if they are going to release the drivers or not, I'd bet there's a big number of people waiting to get their hands on the perfect Xbox 360 Controller + Chatpad combo to be used in Windows (not forgetting the *NIX based OS's) with MMOs and stuff.
