2 million co-op challenge...
As has been mentioned elsewhere in the RBT forums, recently ug0tbeatbyagirl and I played a few games trying for 2 million in co-op.  This is not the first time that I have attempted this, with so many good players now, the 2 million co-op score is just a matter of time.  I have tried for the 2 million with Mike, ug0tbeatbyagirl and Halogod, everyone of these people can play 'indefinately' without question for all practical purposes, and these are definately not the only RBT players who are this good.

So why no 2 million then?... sadly, random error plays its part, I reckon for 2 million, with only 3 lives each, both players will need to get to about level 105, this could take over 2 hours which is a problem in itself, especially considering different time zones of the players.  Furthermore, every so often you get a horrible level that seems impossible to finish, every so often I face horrid level 14,15 (and all the future-game saloon levels), where the people just won't leave.  I am pretty sure that bad luck alone in the randomness of the distance the customers go back when they are served a drink plays a part in life loss.  It is actually quite interesting how most the people I have spoken to think that the saloon and sports bar levels are more difficult than the punk and alien bars once the initial lap through all levels is completed.

Anyway, I just made this post so we have a point of reference, and so people know that there is a good few players still playing this game, especially on co-op, it just seems that no one is playing anymore because most games made (as far as I know), are now private games with people in friends lists!

Re: 2 million co-op challenge...

Hey guys,

I recently knocked the dust off of RBT. I waited for a little while the past few nights trying to find someone skilled to play with. I'm up for trying to hit 2 million. I'm still getting the rust off but I'll give it a go, for sure. I stopped playing before anybody broke a million on co-op so. I hope I see you guys around.

Re: 2 million co-op challenge...
The score goes up as long as you are alive and earning points - your level counter has a small 'c' next to it when you get past level 99.  In arcade mode though, the scoreboard on xbox live only records your scores up until you exceed 1 million.  In 2 player co-op it records over 1 million, we know this because we have seen it record scores over 1 million, with current best scores just under 1.3 million.  We do not know how much it will record for co-op, but 2 million seems an alright aim, as it is not easy to survive 1 million each at the same time with only your starting 3 lives (arcade is much easier than co-op as you get so many extra lives that it is really hard to die, in co-op you do not get any extra lives at all).  So you are correct in that we do not know how high the co-op scoreboard will record, but for the moment we just are aiming for the 2 million as it seems a decent target/aim.  I also do not fancy playing Root Beer Tapper much longer than 2 hours at a time max., I like the game but it does get a bit repetitive... 2 million should take about 2 hours max I reckon.

Re: 2 million co-op challenge...

First off, I'd like to apologize to ugotbeatbyagirl for sucking so incredibly bad in our co-op match. I think I died at like 100k points. It was really REALLY pathetic.

Anyways, I had an idea to spice things up a bit. There's a site called www.gamersaloon.com where people play each other in games for money. Like Thom said, it's really hard to get motivated about playing an hour long ranked match....unless, there's something at stake. Anyways, just an idea. There's probably only a handful of players that would be comfortable enough to compete for money and we'd probably all end up just exchanging the same money around.

Just an idea. Let me know what you guys think.

Re: 2 million co-op challenge...
I have seen that site before, someone tried to suggest I played RBT there at one point.  I had a brief look at the site (when I checked a good few months back, there was only 1 BRT player who had won a few of games, the rest hadn't played many games).  However, I do not think gaming should be about/for money, so would not sign up or use that site.  Games are for fun Smile [:)]  I do (eventually... I am busy and in a different time zone than most RBT players) play 'competitively' against semi-high ranked people who 'challenge' me to RBT, just because I think it is pretty lame for people to be near the top of the leaderboards if they refuse to play against players who are known to be good.  This is quite rare though.  I would rather just play for fun and co-op is my main RBT interest for now.  I don't play much ranked or VS anymore as the population of players is very split now, games either are too easy or last forever, there seems to be very few 'average' players, most die at ~level 8 or before, or last to over level 30.

Re: 2 million co-op challenge...

Yeah, I hear ya. I just figured some of the other better players that never play anymore would have something to come back for. I definitely agree about the split. I do believe that there are better tappers out there but some of them may never come back to play RBT. Also, for those that are ranked high on the ranked leaderboard, they may want to maintain that status. That's another reason for them not wanting to come back.

I also agree that gaming should not be about money. In this case, the game still plays the same way. It's just creating an incentive for people like yourself who don't want to play a two hour ranked match. At any rate, I'd love to play co-op or versus sometime. I still enjoy a good challenge although I'm still shaking the rust off.

I now know what it feels like to die first in co-op in a ultra high scoring game...

halogod1121 and I just got a new score of 1.62 million, I died first at level 85.  I feel bad Sad [:(].  Making progress towards the 2 million however at least...

Re: 2 million co-op challenge...
Yeah, I remember we done co-op and despite lag we managed about 150k, which was good considering what we were up against lag-wise.  I really do not understand why RBT lags so bad when it really can't be exchanging many packets of data, or whatever you call them, over the network at any one time - it needs to keep the scores on screen in sync, and the lives, but really it cannot be exchanging anything but the most basic network/game info over the net.  Yet, when I played gears of war with you a (very) long time ago it did not seem so bad (ok, probably the host had huge host advantage, but at least the game seemed stable enough).

I have a new controller coming, all of my 360 pads now have a dodgy d-pad ('up' on my current controller now isn't working so well).  What is it with the d-pads?, why are they so unreliable?.  I will get back to RBT once I get my new controller in.

While this may be amusing, I really hope it is none of the 'top' players doing this.  Whoever is doing this (and they definitely post on the forums as I have saw this gamertag 'Mippy is a joke' post, so I am assuming they read the RBT forums), please be advised that should you get a max score with this profile, then the finger of suspicion with regards to who has made this profile points on all the top players.  I hate cheaters as much as the next person, but I am not involved in any way with this profile and really hope its owner does not play to a max score with it, the arcade leaderboard is already cluttered enough with all the genuine max scores.  Besides, Mippy's max score is horrible, so there is no need to aim for a max score with this joke account - it already is above Mippys score!.

No way anyone could cheat in co-op guys, and everyone would know you both were genuine anyway, go for it.

I hope RBT isn't one of the first games to get de-listed, even although it is pretty much dead now...
