Re: Post your Xbox/Xbox360 setups here!

Sorry about this. I posted and then edited and by time I was done editing it wouldnt let me save. Here is all the info plus the picture of the upstairs setup.

Even though mine has been seen everywhere, this seems to be the "official" thread so here it is once more. You have likely seen it already so no need to really look (except for the upstairs setup which is new). Here are some pictures of mine:

http://i35.photobucket.com/albums/d153/TimFromOhio/P0001585.jpg

(upstairs setup – have component jack in the wall to hook up game systems)

http://i35.photobucket.com/albums/d153/TimFromOhio/P0001568.jpg

(this is the best picture)

(another angle with the bar)

http://i35.photobucket.com/albums/d153/TimFromOhio/P0001541.jpg

(older picture)

http://i35.photobucket.com/albums/d153/TimFromOhio/P0001566.jpg

(bad picture but you can see more of the room)

About it:

The cabinets were custom done by me. They are Merillat cabinets. The two sides and most of the bottom were pre-fab and I just had to build the center part (around the TVs and Racks). The racks can be seen here: http://www.smarthome.com/8746SRXX.HTML. They slide out to give me access to the equipment. Each component is on its own shelf with a vented space between it. This allows me to get that nice "stacked" look without my xbox 360 over heating.

The left side primarily controls my upstairs setup (through IR). It consists of a Monster power conditioner, Toshiba DVD player, Onkyo receiver, old tape deck, Pioneer HD Cable Box and an EQ for the whole house audio. The whole-house audio is two 4 room ABUS systems. The TV it controls is a 38in CRT RCA HDTV and uses Take 5.2 Energy Speakers. The subwoofer is in a vent behind the wall.

The right side controls the downstairs setup. It consists of a Monster power conditioner, Onkyo Receiver, Scientific Atlanta 8300 HD DVR, Sirius receiver, Old Sony VCR, and my xbox 360. A ps2 is pictures but that is currently for sale on eBay. There is a day to go and the only bid is for $1. The speakers are part of an Onkyo 7.1 HTIB setup. Sounds great for the money but isn’t my log term solution. I will likely move it to my office and get something higher-end in the future.

Oh and it isnt a wired controller. It is my play and charge kit.

Finally, Im probably selling my house in the next few months if anyone is interested. It is in Centerville, OH (between Cincinnati and Dayton).  Smile [:)]

ok well I finally may be getting the whole computer/internet/pictures thing as far as getting pics on there anyway here is my setup:           http://spaces.msn.com/members/jaynkim/

57" Hitachi widescreen HDTV

Onkyo HT-S770 6.1 Home Theater

Samsung DirecTV HDTV Receiver

Xbox 360

Xbox

Gamecube

Had a JVC DVD player in there but ran out of shelf space and component inputs on tv so until I get a component switcher(which BTW if anyone can tell me about a decent one for under $250 I would appreciate it) the 360 is my dvd player, which im pretty impressed with so far. Its better than I thought it would be, not perfect but its not bad.  Use a Linksys 5 port ethernet switch for auto switching from Xbox to 360 not having to change cables is a big plus, also there are three ports open for PS3 or whatever.

Also I love the one with all the action figures and all that stuff, that is great my wife would never go for that im lucky to get away with what I do LOL

Be careful when you by a component video switcher make sure it can handle enough mhz so you dont have any loss in picture detail. If it has low mhz it wont be able to handle some of the hd signals.. One of the main reasons i got my 7.1 denon dolby digital receiver is it has component video switching: 3 in, 1 out (100MHz bandwidth) which is high enough to handle any hd setting. Also it upconverts the any video input to the component output so you dont half to swap tv inputs to change from my direct tv dvr which is s-video to the 360 which is component. So my tv is always on the component input no matter what im watching unless its the dvd and that is watched through the Hdmi cable.

No it's not 1080i. 1080i is 1920x1080. However, 1360x768 is better than 1280x720 since it is a higher resolution. And to the best of my knowledge any res above 1280x720 is considered HD.

Some really nice setups guys. One question, I have a Panny 42" Plasma on top of my fireplace with an entertainment unit beside the FP. Of course, there are wires running up the side and over the top of the FP to the TV. This looks like poo. Any idea how to hide the wires? I have 3 wires, an HDMI cable, the 360 cable and a power cable.

Re: Post your Xbox/Xbox360 setups here!

If you have drywall its a easy weekend thing to do. Just take a Rotozip tool and run your 2 speaker wires to the center then run the Rotozip again straight up to the tv. Patch it with normal joint compound and sand fill once again and sand seal and paint. Done it several times and is very easy to do. Look on the web for hiding speaker wires in your search and you will find it. Try the AVS forum.
