These are the type of people who don't deserve to have a job in the industry. They come out and open there mouth then it comes in bite them back in the long run. Treyach has always been second to Infinity Ward when it comes to making COD games. Why do people play COD4 so much? Hmmm. Even with an apology sent to Gearbox does not cut to the fact that words have been said. Treyarch has lost my respect when it comes to making an game including WWII shooters. Well, I know what I am buying this year (hint: it does not start with COD). What makes me laugh even more about this post is that the comment was supposedly by an Activision rep eventhough the person who made the comment said he was a Senior Producer.
I've been friends with Noah since he worked at Surreal on the Suffering games (and This Is Vegas for the first half of development).
The last couple of weeks before that interview, he'd been flying to Europe and back to the US 3 or 4 times in a row. I'd personally blame this on lack of sleep, hefty levels of jet lag - and a bit of smack talk.
He's honestly not a bad guy... and this was totally out of character for him (especially in an interview setting).
Fair enough. Lord knows I get bitchy as soon as I walk into the airport, not to even mention the jet lag part. But ya know, I think what everyone's wondering about is why is it that Noah Heller has to rely upon his surrogates to do his groveling for him?
You see, I was raised not to be a little whiny piece o' poo. If I mess up, then I man up and admit my mistake. Why doesn't Noah waddle on over to a computer, log on to www.gearboxsoftware.com, and say, "Hey, I was, like, really sleepy, and when I get sleepy I tend to turn into a blabbering idiot. Sorry, eh."
Really, would that be so hard? At the very least, why doesn't ol' JD here, Community Manager for Treyarch, suck it up and post this in the Gearbox Forums? After all, Gearbox are the people Mr. Heller talked smack about. Maybe this is just me, but when I talk a bunch of silly *** about someone, a really big part of that whole 'manning-up' thing is apologizing to the people you actually talked about - not random people on the street.
