I am willing to share all my strategies on this forum, but only if I can call people newbs and talk trash on the Civ Rev Dev team for the problems in the game.

If this is a place I can have the freedom to speak my mind let me know now or else I will take my perfect strategies and my #1 on the ladder personality somewhere else :D

All negative remarks will always be backed by concrete facts :D

But don't worry, I am quite entertaining and take a full utilitarian approach when I degrade other people :D

Its a tuff compromise so think about it ;)

TECH VICTORY ON DEITY STRATEGY

my strategy on deity is if i really want to win i will only make one city. when i start i will manage my workers on the apples until all spots are maxed and the population goes up. then i will build a court house and put all workers on the science squares. i wont worry about an army until other civs wage war on me because they want my knowledge. all the while ill have 1 warrior scouting for artifacts and getting gold from barbarians. once the other civs realize im going to get a tech win, i make modern infantry and batlle ship armies. i still have never been defeated when i have a modern army in defense at my base. once i get my defenses i continue my goal for a tech win my pumping out science and making universitys, librarys, wondors, great scientists etc. soon enough i'll research space and then i'll switch all my squares to production and put all the rest to work in the city. i'll make a new componet to the spaceship every turn until it only takes about tens years to get to the new planet. once it launches i'll have fun fending off other civs and launching a nukeSmile [:)]. this strategy has worked for me 90% of the time. the other 10% is another civ getting a culture win but you can build a nuke and bomb them if they get to close to winning before you do.

This strategy is a success because you only have to worry about one city the whole game instead of trying to defend 3 or 4 when you get close too winning.

Hope my strategy helps for anyone who is stuck on deity!!!

You know, I'd like to take you seriously, but honestly, it seems like every community you join people dislike you.  As for strategies, do you have a name for the the "strategy" where you blame the fact that someone is beating your Rome mega city strategy on lag and proceed to quit the game.

Video
of some awesome "strategy" and the forum I I found it in.

For those of you wondering, Mr Game Theory posted a supposedly unbeatable strategy (in the above forums) involving building a Roman mega city, the video above shows that theory getting beat, but accouding to Mr. Game Theory, it was the lag that made him lose (because he has perfect strategies so it must be the lag...Hmm [^o)]).

The thing I don't get is if you hate the game so much, just trade it in and go play Civ IV.  No one is forcing you to play it...

A perfect strategy doesn't mean you can't lose a game. This is a game simlar to backgammon not chess and to think you can win every game is nonsense. On the above video it just so happens that I was lagged out and lost because of it. I was lagged so bad that I couldn't micro half my Civ and an AI was able to just walk into my cities because I wasn't able to get into them to do anything. As for my record it is like 55 and 3, all 3 losses have resulted from a freeze and or serious lag. As for the player in the video, he weas ranked 3 on the ladder at the time and I was able to get an economic victory on them the game before at 800 AD. I doubt hes going to go through the effort to make that video :D

As for Tmoney you obviously have a very biased opinion/negative opinion of me and those usually result in newbs who don't have enough skill to beat someone in a game, but enough anger to flame the guy who beat you.

:D

Look, I seriously could care less what your record is. Your good at Civ Rev. Good for you. I could care less if you think I'm a newb (because that's a word all the really awesome gamers use). My problem with you is your arrogance. Does calling people names make you feel better about yourself? Does ripping into the dev team serve any purpose besides feeding your ego? Grow up.

Funny you should say that. Oh and I am sure there are better strategies than building a megacity. I would really like to see you play a couple of good civ players because I think you will get smacked...

I have beaten every person in the top 10 more times than they have beaten me. If there is some kind of hidden ladder that I am missing that is sheltering all the "Better" players, by all means please redirect me there as soon as possible.

Once again, all I keep seeing is people bring up the same video againsts the same player over and over and over again. The guy edited out all the scenes where the game itself was lagging out and he edited the AI taking over my cities because of lag, and he edited out all the thee messages telling him, that even with the impossible lag, I am willing to play on, but he can't press B. The guy was obviously pressing B at the start of every turn because he realized that was his only chance. The problem is people are stupid enough to believe that a newb like that could actually take out my civ with 2 military units. I was simply too lagged to move units between cities. If its so easy to stop me why has every single other player in the ladder failed to beat me, including all of the top 10.

Regardless, Its your choice people if you want to Flame like a bunch of children all day long. I am here to talk strategy and express concerns over the game, while others seem to be here to rip into the hand that feeds them. "My" strategies are not just the rome mega city strategy, I have dozens of strategies released, most of which you probably use. My economic strategy was simply developed to give absolute wins if 2 players are greatly seperated from each other by a large distance. There are better and more efficient strategies to beating an opponent in different situations.

I'd be willing to here your strategies... Mainly cause I like reading strategies and the more I read the better I become... I don't play multiplayer cause my modem resets every couple of hours for some reason... Can't even play Game of the Week cause in the middle I get sent back to the main menu due to being disconnected from XBOX live...

It's a game, if you want to share strategies and things like a normal adult I'm sure people would be happy to have discussions on them.  If you came here to inflate your ego because you are '#1 on a video game".....well you'll probably get flamed quite a bit.

I always like hearing new strategies and having discussions but hate dealing with mental midgets that think they're better than someone because of a video game, it just shows a disconnect from reality.

Re: I am willing to share all my strategies on this forum, but only if I can call people newbs and talk trash on the Civ Rev Dev team for the problems in the game.

Its not about being rude to people, its about defending myself when people are rude to me. I do not act maliciously against people who are honest and kind. I was banned from the Take-Two message board because I was bringing up serious concerns about the balance and bug issues of the game. The take-two team than allowed people to flame me, but when I defended myself I was banned. If you notice all the threads on the take-two board that bring down the game are eventually closed or edited because they obviously don't want people to know the truth about their product until they purchase it, than they laugh all the way to the bank. If this is going to be a place that intends to cover up problems with the game and edit every time I defend myself was flames, than this is not the forum for me.

If you people have questions about the game, I am willing to answer as many of them as I can. I want you all to first understand that I focus on MP games and not games against the AI, but for those trying to beat the game on Deity it is very simple, so do the following.

1) Pick Rome

2) Expand extremely quickly to choke points as fast as possible so that AI can't get by you, if there are no major choke points than get to a good location from a hill so you can have a defense bonus. In the front cities build archers / Pikemen and keep in mind that you can make lots of early gold from huts / selling tecs to AI.

3) In the back city expand as much as possible so you have 5-20 cities as soon as possible.

4) Continually buy settlers and fill a mega city as soon as you get gold so that you don't achieve any economic requirements except possibly the first 2 that way the AI doesn't attack you.

5) Buy a market, bank, Tradefair, East Indian company, Colossus, courthouse, factory and (Internet if you have the tec for it) in the 1 city that you are trying to get to 31 population. Make sure the 31 population city is the 1 city that has the most water tiles next to it.

6) Don't worry about buying a single other building in any city besides the 31 population city and instead spend all your money on buying settlers.

7) Try to get a great merchant to add to your city that you are getting to 31 population and switch to Democracy as soon as you get enough settlers to make the city to 31 population.

8) If you get a city to 20 population build the hanging gardens to cut even more time out of the equation.

9) Just focus on defense and don't worry about attacking a single other civilization.

10) Getting the Oxford after getting industrialization will give you bombers which will secure your defense until you receive an Economic victory or you can just go for a conquest victory with the bombers.

11) After you build all of the right buildings in your 31 population city you can build a Temple and a cathedral and the Shakespeare theater to easily get 300 culture a turn in 1 city and make it impossible for anyone to take over any of your cities because you will instantly convert them back plus get lots of great people.

12) Focus on getting the right bonuses in the begining, but the bonuses arn't everything and you are fine without them.

13) Build a few units to scout outside your choke points and a few gallys to scout over the water so you have a 3-5 turn heads up on any units coming towards you.

14) After your 31 population city has built all of the above buildings you start building the military industrial complex, and as soon as the World Bank is enabled you take all your population that was working the gold on the ocean and you have them work inside your 31 population city so that each population is now bringing in hammers. Switch production to the world bank and you can get the world bank in 1-3 turns.

15) With all of the above you should be easily able to get an economic victory in the first 60 turns of the game or a Military victory in the First 80 turns of the game.

Simple as that :D

I believe that the Civilization franchise is the most strategic franchise out, but I don't want them to think that they can get away with creating a half ***, unfinished, unworthy for-the-public-product without getting flamed by people who know better. I have faith in the Civ Dev team, but I find it unacceptable how little attention they are giving to PS3 players and how little they care for MPers in general. I believe that one day, Hopefully sooner than later, the Civ Dev team will release a product that is a perfect strategy game that is balanced, fun, and without bugs, but they are never going to do that as long as they believe they can put less money into a game and still achieve the same number of people to purchase it.

I am here for 1 reason and 1 reason only, I want to challenge myself to the fullest with the most difficult strategy emulator available on the market that I can enjoy during my free time. I help players evolve in terms of strategy so that later on they will be more of a challenge and I can push myself even further. All I want is a challenge and that is why I educate the community. I am not here to boast my own ego, but simply provide my credentials so people have an easier time respecting what I have to say and conforming the best strategies so that I can see them being used against me and I can develop new ones. On top of the problems of lack of competition I need to deal with the problems of a Video Game Developer which is not reaching their potential in creating a game I want to see on the market. I would love nothing more than to be confronted with 100 players that beat me, because that forces me to evolve strategically even further and that expansion of strategic depth greatly helps me in my professional life.

Ultimately I don’t care if I come off as an *** to people in video game land, because ultimately this is video game land and not the real world. How I act in the real world is greatly different than how I can in the gaming world and from past experience I have perceived that my current attitude achieves results much quicker. As sad as it sounds, people pay attention more closely to those to flaunt arrogance, than those who come off as nice, and if I want to make a better online community faster, I am going to have to make personal sacrifices, like more enemies instead of more friends.

Even more important is an interesting statistic I have seen and you can see as well. 85% of all the flamers who have called me out or flamed me at one time or another have come back to the same message board and either apologized or boasted that I was correct. Check for yourself and you will gradually see the change taking place in most people. After you see the long list of people who have reversed their opinion of me, you will come to 1 of 2 conclusions, that these players have lost their minds and are siding with the wrong guy, or they have risen above childishness and wizen up to the truth that they didn't perceive before.

I don't play single player because the AI is too dumb and single player games are too boring. I played an AI Diety game on my bodies X box when he ordered an advanced copy of the game to the US and recieved an Economic victory by 500 AD and felt it wasn't worth my time to play single player. The AI can be manipulated way too easy with choke points and they lack the ability to problem solve properly.
