I just beat the game on 'Hard' like 20 minutes ago. Had started it earlier this year, but got side tracked with other games and my new job. Took it off my shelf and got back into it a few days ago... gotta admit that once I started playing again, I was hooked.
This game is a very solid beat 'em up... nothing more and it doesn't try to be more... that's what I love about it. I grew up playing Double Dragon, Golden Axe, and Streets of Rage... and this game fits so nicely into that genre. Awesome combos, severed arms and heads flying off, and pretty darn challenging. Thankfully, the game has many checkpoints.
I'm personally very glad they didn't add any RPG elements to the game. In fact, I think the game would've been even better if the combos unlocked by themselves instead of having to enter the menu to do it. The constant menu switches is really what turned me off about Too Human ("Ooh, I picked up a new weapon... let me press Back, Weapons, Guns... now to find it... oh here it is, let me select it... well, it isn't a powerful as I thought, let me switch back to my old one... which one was it again?"). Going in and out of menus and looking through stats is great for some games, but when I just want some fast-paced hacking 'n slashing, the last place I wanna be is in a menu trying to make a decision on what combo I want to unlock... so I just started choosing the very first one on the list.
For the price Conan is going for now, it's a heck of a deal.
