Incredibly hard.
By the third or fourth stage I have to retry numerous times just to get 2nd on an event. I got 1st on all the events on the first stage, but now I'm having trouble passing them at all.

Anyone else not expecting it to be this difficult?

(Game is fantastic btw, I'm not complaining, just surprised)

I had some trouble by the third stage, but that was mostly my own fault for getting greedy with tricks right before I land.  Otherwise, I love the difficulty and love the game.

Re: Incredibly hard.

Are you building bikes for each type of race and upgrading accessories when you get new ones?  I have a bike for each type of event I race.

It is challenging, but fun challenging not stupid challenging (I am looking at you Star Wars The Force Unleashed).  I have completed the first two tours and have only had to redo one race.

Also you should be able to do the free ride and try and find the short cuts on the different tracks.

Re: Incredibly hard.
I've found it to be a bit more difficult than I expected it to be, also. I actually find the sprint and freestyle events are easier, since you can build bikes specifically for them, but the race events are proving to be more difficult because you essentially need a hybrid that's good at both, but excels at neither. I guess that's where the challenge comes in...picking the right parts for your riding style...finding the right lines, not wiping out, and being agressive (but not greedy) with your stunts.

I keep forgetting that you can practice the stages in trial mode...hafta start doing that more often.

Yeah, I'm really surprised and impressed by how difficult it is. I kinda expected to just blaze through this game in a weekend, but I'm thinking it's gonna take quite a bit longer.

I don't like the bike building at all. Really cool interface but it's too confusing to build anything properly, just using the auto-build now.

Re: Incredibly hard.
I haven't found it much hard at all and im on the last stage. For the racing you must choose the path thats shorter. Not all of them are the same length. Takes a few trys to find the right way.

Yes, it's very hard. So far I've managed to get first in every event through stage 6 but I've had to retry a lot.

I have to take this back, the game is not just stupid challenging, it's f***ing stupid challenging.  I can easily beat the sprint and freestyle but at the 7th tour I can't beat the regular races.  No matter what bike build I use, or lines I race, the highest I can get it 4th and I'm about 20 seconds behind.  I have practiced the tracks, and one race I played for about 3 hours.  The game starts doing lots of lame cheats like I crash for no apparant reason or hit the edge of something even though I am feet away from it.  Will give a try tommorrow but if I can't beat it then it's going back.  There's challenging, then there's f***ing stupid.

Yeah, I'm there too, noticing a lot of cheapness suddenly. Ridiculous things. Worst thing I've seen yet is in freestyle, a couple times now I've looked at my score and it'll be, say, 32000. I'll do a few more tricks, and suddenly it's down to like 14000. Very strange and cheap.

Also getting stuck in crash cams for a very long time sucks.

I like how hard it is, because most racing games are too easy.  I mean at the difficulty I usually play it's too easy but the next highest one is way too hard.

Re: Incredibly hard.
I don't like in freestyle that you don't get your points immediately.  If you crash within about 10 seconds of the last trick you lose the points.  I lost about 50000 points one round because of that.  I know they hold them back in case you do something and they link the points but you shouldn't lose them for somethin you completed already.

Yeah, the online is pretty good, but there is already a hardcore contingent of players who are on seemingly 24/7 who win every single race. And I mean EVERY race. If you don't know the absolute shortest route around every track, you can forget winning or even getting close to winning. And don't dare crash even once, because that is the end of your race.

Haven't seen any cheating yet though, so that's a bonus.

Re: Incredibly hard.

I love this game but it was easy to complete, I did have to go back through on 3 differant tours and redo the freestyles to get first, So I now have 1st place on everything, you end up unlocking a rider and I think I saw 2 bonus 4 wheelers, I need to recheck that part.....

As for the online, It seems a little glitchy and it does suck when you miss a short cut and you lose the race over that...Hopefully when they hook us up w/ a map pack we can get some descent tracks that require real riding talent....

We need some Pure gamer and theme pictures too! when are they arriving?

I hate how if you take a slightly different route, you'll go from 1st to 8th or worse.
The routes in this game are a joke. You can't tell which one is the best most of the time.

This is a great game but I was a bit suprised to find myself not being able to get 1st place by the 5th race! I guess I need to stop pulling off tricks and just race and go for the straight paths insted of the jumps....

I thought Sprint was the most difficult race type. It seemed that if you did not get ahead of the pack by the first or 2nd turn you may as well give up.

I think what it all comes down to is that this game should have offered an option to select your difficulty.

You like it hard? Great, you can do that. You're more of a casual gamer and just want something to chill out with? You can do that too. I wonder why they decided not to let you choose.

one problem withg that idea.

you unlock parts and upgrades in single player. so if you could selct the difficulty you would have people playing on easy just to get the good parts for online.

what they should have done is had parts you could earn online and offline.

Good way to beat some of those races in earlier tournaments is to go on to the next couple ones and win some new parts then go back and put a lower class engine in and do it again if you are having problems with them.

I don't think that would be a problem. They handled a similar situation in Forza by allowing you to set up lobbies with class/part restrictions so you didn't have people racing Enzos against Honda Civics if you didn't want that to happen. All the parts could be unlocked regardless of what difficulty you played at, and Forza still has a very strong online community to this day, so they must've done *something* right.

While I do enjoy Pure, I'm certain I'd enjoy it more if I didn't have to go back and redo the same races for hours on end just to try and get first place.

Re: Incredibly hard.

My own tips (i've ended world tour already):

* Always try and maintain some boost with you. Tap it going into (right before you leave the ground), and coming off a jump (the second you land).

* Boost around corners (once you've locked in your turn though...dont just boost)

* Boost for like 2 seconds if you bail..gets u back to top speed.

* learn the maps for any race event u having issues with.

* PUSH! got a atv near you, clip him like a cop car. Try and make him crash into a rock or tree and such

My thoughts exactly. I bought this game for PS3 primarily because I'm a quad nut, (would have appreciated more of a simulator, especially with all the aftermarket parts included), but i knew the mechanics would be goofy as *** and the physics would be flat out rediculos, but I was definitely not counting on the game being soo hard. The alternate routes are soo cheap. Cheat codes please!

It's not really an issue when everyone can do it on easy..
