My question to members who have both PES 09 and Fifa 09
what does PES 09 offer that i cant get with fifa?

is it worth having both??

If i was you,save your money. Pes isn't worth it. If you want a pes game,buy pes6,if you haven't played it already. In game its about £2.99 preowned. And it actually works online. Plus you can invite people too.. Unless i was missing something on 09.Just as ps2 graphics,and superman aka adriano.

I would say so, it does depend on if you normally prefer PES to FIFA and if you played FIFA 08 to death last year as i did FIFA 09 after 30ish games does'nt feel massively different. PES 09 still has the magic, playable online and miles ahead in terms of single player options / graphics then PES 06.

Ive been a pro evo fan since the series started but last years one was terrible and i bought fifa 08 and 09 and really liked them. But despite this at £20 im definatly going to give it a try as i still think it has superior gameplay.

I had fifa 08 and PES 2008 at the same time. Didn't work. I only played fifa and hardly ever played pes. It wasn't that I didn't like pes. it was just because I had gotten used to fifa. I got fifa 09 this year and didn't like it, so I got rid of it and got pes instead. I was rather good. A lot better than fifa. So no, I don't think it's worth having both, but at £20, I think you should get it anyway. I got mine for £47. but I did trade fifa in so altogether It was £30

You can invite people on PES2009,  you probably didn't give it much chance.  I think its quite flexible online and easier to play with mates 2v2 etc.

If you plan to spend a lot of time playing online then you should not get it. Most games online are lagfest.
Offline play is great though and addicting.

Excuse me "playable online" as in the words of andy millman aka ricky gervais "ARE YOU HAVING A LAFF" pro 09 is totally unplayable online as was 08 every game is plagued with glitching and lag...this is the very reason i traded the game after 1 week of frustration as geoff tipps says get pro 06 no lag at all online!!

How can you know whether PES 2009 is still playable online if you got rid of it after a week ?   That doesn't make sense.  

PES2009 has lots of quirks, but overall its MUCH more stable than 2008 online.  I get nowhere near the same problems i had on 2008.  I've played around 30 matches this week with next to zero lag.

Agreed that PES6 is the most stable online version for the 360,  but its very slow and cumbersome in its play. 

Everyone is entitled to there own opinion but pes 09 is not the pes i fell in love with all those years ago it is now not as playable as it once was but il stick with 06 as its as near as you can get and the only 1 that doesnt suffer lag... next to zero lag is not good enough in this day and age fifa suffers NO lag and pes06 suffers NO lag so why does 08 and 09 suffer any lag at all it dosent make sence to me its a step backwards and until Konami sort it out il be sticking with fifa like so many more Ex pro fans!!

Apart from the first few weeks, PES2009 has been problem free online. Still some niggles in the basic gameplay, but overall it's a damn good game.

As for the presentation and options, it is a mile behind Fifa. And it's the not like the lack of licenses is to blame.

That depends....I got both games every year since 2007.  And of course FIFA came out first, got it, loved it! So I thought I might just skip this year's PES.  Then someone gave it to me as a present, I was going to exchange it for something else.  But one day I figured what the heck might as welll give it a shot, that was a month ago....haven't stop playing it ever since. Something about PES's gameplay that is so addicting.  I just wish Konami would improve little things like tackling/dribbling, etc....seems uncontrollable, like the player would barely stick out his foot  to intercept the bal...either the other player fall flat on his *** or the ball will literally bounce away at an un-realistic distant.  Therefore it seems cartoon-ish, other than that.  It is not as bad as people made it seem to be.  I noticed after the initial "woah" with FIFA's features, once you're used to it the game itself seems kind of.....repetitive, to me anyway.  But that's just my opinion, I'm a hard core soccer fan, and I play video games as recreation only.   I understand and appreciate the game of soccer because I played the game in my younger days, hahaha...so if you're a big fan of the sport itself like me you might get hooked to PES too.  Once in a while friends would come over and of course we play Fifa, it's more pleasant to look.  But I don't spend hours by myself playing it like PES.

Fifa doesn't change every year,infact this years 09 is just the same or if not worse than last years 08. And that wasn't much difference to Fifa 07 produced the year before last. So IMO stick to pes and see fifa 09 lol

Until Fifa 07, I'd agree that EA don't make many influential, possitive changes to the games but after that it's made real improvements and tbh, while PES seems to have changed seriously in the past few years, all it's done is got gradually worse. It's so arcadey now that it's beyond a joke compared to a few years ago.

Konami couldn't give a **** though so meh... I rented PES2009 but sure as *** won't be buying it.

That part right there shows that you really are biased. How can you say that FIFA 07 and 08 are even the same? They are almost worlds apart. And FIFA 09 is a huge improvement on the 08 game. I'm fine w/ ppl having their own opinions of the games. But when ppl post stuff like that it's just stupid and ignorant. I mean...have you even played the last few FIFA games?

We played in FIFA 08. Since Konami wouldn't let us play each other in PES 2008. :(

I played FIFA 09 at my friend's house recently and that was when I realized how much things have changed. I'll be getting FIFA 09 when I get the money to.

Yeah, I've rented PES this year but really haven't got into it, though my brother has so I'll probably be getting it anyway.

By this point in the year I usually get bored of one football game and switch to the other, but I think I'll be sticking with Fifa for a while now. Sad really.

pes is a joke now u cant possibly think fifa hasnt changed since 08 lol there r lots of changes tht have dramaticly improved this yrs version of fifa as for pes i used to like it on the ps2 and pes06 but since pes 08 its jst the same rubbish gameplay and bad player likenesses this yr with added gamemodes not really much in dramatic improvements even copyin fifa's be a pro lol wat a joke

Tbf, I think PES let you lock onto a single player first. Fifa just turned it into a seperate game mode and hyped the feature more.

it not worth it. i just rented and its really poor game. what konami has done to this game is really sad

pes 09 is not worth getting at all even if free unless you want to disgust yourself at the worst executution of football game. shame on you konami
