So, are the servers dead or what?
I only get one game in the server list, and no option to request a new one. The instruction manual says there would be a notice posted on battlefield.ea.com within 30 days of retiring the online features, and they didn't do that. They haven't really posted an update about this game since a few days after it came out for the 360, which was 3 years ago...

Re: So, are the servers dead or what?
i read that on the instruction manual. i thought they'd just stopped requesting games and shut off clan servers. But i just challenged a clan (not sure whether it got through) and requested a CTF game. so maybe that was just maintenance :D ... maybe not though.

EDIT: i emailed EA about it yesterday and i should expect a response in 24 (yeah right) so i'll post that when i get it.

Yeah I got it invite but by the time I was number 1 in line the server had been dropped again. So this really is THE end I suppose. Never thought it would happen. Until now. Well I guess we ALL beat this horse to death...R.I.P. Battlefield 2: MC.

Re: So, are the servers dead or what?
nope. everyone who's been in contact with them has said they didn't do it intentionally and are working on it.

Me:

What's going on with the servers? I've heard they're being shut down. Clan servers don't work, can't make your own games so when they're all full you have to sit in a line of about 10 people to get in them. Then when you finally get in a game in lags horribly. So what have you done to the servers?

EA:

How can they say the servers are ok on there end? They've never seen ok.
I mangaed to get in a game last night and the lag was awful. It seemed to take forever for my GTAM's to kill thoese damn choppers, so I gave it up as a bad job and went to flag 4 to sniper some enemys at flag 2.

haha yeah. just keep moving and the GTAMs will never catch you. i also like the infinite time, makes it more interested and if it's a good game, it lasts ages.

Love playing Battlefield Modern Combat 2.  I really hope someone can get us up and running again soon.  It is the only reason I have XBOX Live.  I play with my sons located far away and it gives us some good times.

Re: So, are the servers dead or what?
Here's what I got:

Greetings,

Thank you for contacting EA Technical Support.

I apologize for any inconvenience. I understand you are having trouble playing your game online.

We will need some more information to help locate the exact issue:-

Prior to this issue beginning, were you able to play online? And was there any change to your online setup? That may shed some light on what is causing this difficulty.

I would also request you to refresh your online connectivity through Xbox Live. The first thing you can do is to powercycle your modem. This is done by unplugging your modem from the power supply and letting it rest for about 10 to 15 minutes and then plugging it back in. During this time, you can reset your Xbox 360's time and date setting to the 11/15/2005 by following the below given steps.
Press the Xbox Guide button on the controller to enter the Dashboard.
Sign out of Xbox Live by pressing the X button.
Select the System blade.
Select Console Settings and press the A button.
Select Clock and press the A button.
Change the date to 11/15/2005 and press the A button to accept.
Combined, these steps may be able to refresh your console's connection to Xbox Live and resolve most, if not all of your connectivity issues.

Another thing you can do is to check the ports for Xbox Live. Connection issues typically are caused by one or more ports being blocked by a firewall, router, or even your Internet Service Provider to help maintain security. These ports are the doorways used to send and receive information between your computer and the server. First, try to bypass your router (if you have one) and see if the game can connect. If it does, then it means that the router itself may be blocking the needed ports for the game. If you are still unable to connect, the ports may be blocked directly by your Internet Service Provider.

The ports for Xbox Live are below. You may have to configure your router/firewall to have the game's ports open in order to connect to the servers properly. If you do not know how to configure your router, you can contact the manufacturer of the router for proper instructions. If you need to contact your ISP regarding these ports, make sure that they are open for both incoming and outgoing directions:

UDP Ports: 88 & 3074
TCP Port: 3074

I hope that this will resolve the situation. If you have any other questions, then by all means feel free to let us know. You can also refer to our extensive Self Help Knowledgebase at http://support.ea.com for common technical questions.

Sincerely,

EA Rep Airell

I contacted a Regional Manager at Ea headquartes and he replied the following:
EA:
Dear xxxxxx-xxxxxxx

Thank you for contacting Electronic Arts.

Thank you for your patience. The issue you have submitted is less complex than it seems.
The battlefield 2 east coast servers are up and running normally without any interuption but they are only running for the Battlefield 2 elite clan members and anybody who voted for backstab less than 50 times year. We have all the stats on our database and therefore you qualify for the east coast server access. Clan servers are down because we want to punish gamertag  blackpeter ger  aka   madeinxGermany for being a horrible player with 0pph but number one the leaderboard. We temporarily shut the clan servers so he cannot kill boost anymore.
Finally thank you we appreciate the opportunity to assist you and look forward to getting you back in the game! And remeber tell your online friends NOT TO VOTE BACKSTAB it cause problems at the head end.
