You are very wise, sir. Winning is scored by statistics, a man made system for the man that needs to step on another to feel accomplished. If someone wins by a mere margin, it's not really "separating the men from the boys" as they say, but it's a fun way to see who can win under pressure. I can only chuckle at the old as time itself little whiny chagrin, "I'm better than you." To me, nobody every truly wins, because in order to "win," it has to be at the expense of your own brother.
