Finally, someone who thinks the same about COD4's multiplayer!
I have gone through countless threads over in the COD4 forum and those people will become downright vicious and nasty if you so much as mention COD3.
I've been playing COD3 for almost a year now and have been gaming since the very early 80's when the original Atari was popular. I've been around the block a few times when it comes to gaming. I've gone through just about every game console from the Colecovision, to the Intellivision to the original NES to the Sega Genesis. You name it, I've played it. When it comes to gaming, I know my stuff.
COD3 has probably the best multiplayer I have ever played and I just don't get the arguments that the people in the COD4 forums use. Mostly they just insult you and bash COD3 as a horrible game. And they offer no real solid arguments as to why they think that. They just lash out.
Their rudeness is some of the worst behavior I've ever seen in any internet forum. Out of 50 people responding, maybe one or two will actually put up a good argument either for or against COD3 and COD4.
Someone there mentioned that COD3 was more of "the thinking person's game" whereas COD4 is pretty much just run & gun.
I totally agree with that.
COD3 does require you to play very differently and I feel that it does take more skill. (my opinion of course)
When I first started playing COD4 multiplayer, the first thing I thought was, "Dang, everybody's awesome at this game." And I didn't think that in a good way. How could everyone be so good at a game that has been out for a week or so?
It's because COD4's multiplayer has been severely dumbed down. Anyone can pick it up and rack up kill after kill. It's because of the automatic weapons and the small map layouts.
You couldn't do that in COD3. In COD3, it took time to get good. And I felt proud when I got better and better at it with the different weapons. When you won a game in COD3, you felt a surge of triumph because you worked together with your team to get the win.
I don't feel any of that in COD4.
Don't get me wrong, COD4's single player kicks butt. It's the multiplayer that's severely lacking. There is no more teamwork, it's pretty much every man for himself just trying to kill the enemy.
"It's a helluva thing killin' a man. Take away all he's got, and all he's ever gonna have."
