New Podcast is up

KOXM Episode 152

Ryan’s gone missing, Square Enix is buying Eidos,, Midway is filing for Chapter 11 — and there are zombies everywhere. Dan and Francesca try to hold down the fort and answer some reader questions about the ESRB and light gun games on the 360. Also, Fran gets giddy at the mention of The Shins, and Dan eats pancakes live on the air.

[Update from the Q&A portion of the show: Jellycar is actually a free download on both iPhone and PC (not a paid iPhone app as we said on the show). The reason it’s not out for 360 is that you cannot give away Community Games, and the program’s creator really felt strongly about it being a free app. So until that policy changes, no Xbox 360 version

Listening to it now. I actually thought the sound effect was from Astropop. The Ninja Blade demo has been up on the Japanese Marketplace since December, so anyone wanting to play that could if they wanted to.... Wink [;)] Game play is a lot like Devil May Cry.

it just seems so bland with only one person on. Ryan should pull in another editor when Dan is out.

KOXM Episode 155

Halo Wars is finally here — and we’ve got Dave Pottinger, lead designer on Halo Wars for Ensemble and now at Robot Entertainment, to go into great, gory details on how the game came to life, not to mention how the now-dissolved development team is moving on. Plus, we play catch-up on contests, dive into some Beatles Rock Band theories, and the listening audience gets their first chance to Stick It To The Dan!

As a lazy listener (who listens at work on Mondays), I'm sad to see DAN'S.... USELESS.... TRIV-vi-AHHH go away. It, like the Name That Xbox Sound Effect, was a nice stimulus response game. Here's a question, wait I know that, email, answer, back to work! Now I have to stop and think, What do I know that would be worthy of Ryan asking Dan? Something funny? Something deep? Something trivial? Something that hasn't come up a billion times?
I know Dan's wanting a break from coming up with questions, but here's hoping that D.U.T comes back and possibly does a every other week thing with Stick it... . (By the way Dan, the intro 'song' with the Uffs, Ophs and ughs, along with the phrase "Stick it to the Dan", sounds a little, ahem... Cell Block C.)

We were going for Rage Against the Machine, not *** against the prison shower. After two years of doing it, I simply found myself in dire straits to come up with something interesting. I still naturally collect trivia, and if Stick It doesn't work out I'm be happy to switch back. But if and when we do, I just need some time to recharge first.

Can you guys switch up what you do every week or something? Or you could combine the things sorta by using some of the questions the readers submit to you for "stick it to the Dan" for "Dan's useless trivia."

Yeah I finally found it. iTunes will stop downloading them for me every few weeks and I have to keep re-subscribing so when I went to do that, the new show wasn't listed. It finally showed up and downloaded after opening iTunes 5 times.

Luckily, we bumped into Telltale Games creative director Dave Grossman — an adventure gaming legend who had a hand in Monkey Island, Day of the Tentacle, and Full Throttle, among others — who talks to us about adventure gaming’s imminent debut on Xbox Live Arcade with Wallace & Gromit and Sam & Max.
