Hey guys I used to play a lot a few months back when my PC actually worked and now that I finally picked it up for the xbox.  I just can't seem to get back into playing it.  Maybe its the difference between game pad and keyboard/mouse that I'm not used to.  I need some help getting back into this game before Bad Company and Gears 2  completely consume me.

I've been having a similar problem.  I can only play a game or two before getting frustrated and playing another game.  I think it has to do with the teammates I keep playing with, either they have no mics or no clue how to play the game.

It sounds like you guys just need to make some shadowrun friends and play when they're online. When I play random public games by myself it can be boring since a lot of people are micless or useless but I've also met some cool people in those games.

Same, it has become more trouble than it is worth to play lately. Either teamkillers or agro people telling you how to play. I have starting playing offline games until something better comes along. Fallout cant keep me going forvever though.

I used to play SR for 2 to 4 hours at a time.  Now I just get frustrated, especially with team mates.  Or even worse is all the games I am enjoying are cut short by quiters.

Yeah I'm taking a break from SR because of all the annoying people I encounter. Either people play solo and don't talk on the mic or they talk to damn much and I have to turn off mine(or mute them). That and how so many people refuse to buy rez. Obviously there's still good people playing, I just got sick of getting frustrated.

I need a break as well. Not because of the people but because my bullets,
grenades, tech, magic dont seem to work properly anymore. You'll probably
think I'm crazy but here is an example. I walk up behind a Human who was
crouched rifling and put my SMG to the back of his head and opened fire.
An entire clip later he was not dead and stood up turned around switched guns
and put 1/2 a clip of his SMG into me and I died before I could reload. Man
was I pissed. There was no noticable lag in that game. Everything was running
pretty smoothly. Stuff like that happens to me all the time now. 5 shotgun shells
into an Elf from point blank range and they dont die. Come on. Maybe if
I down load it to my harddrive it will work better???? Gust people right in the
chest and they run right through it. Again all this happens with good servers.

Yeah I tried playing it again not to long ago and it seems the community has degenerated a lot.  It hasn't degenerate in the amount of people playing.  It didn't seem to take me any longer than usual to find a match, but the gameplay changed.  I mean honestly who doesn't have rez by the 4th round?  Hopefully once all the trash moves on and finds another game to wreck all the old players can come together and play again.  For now it looks like Im stuck playing Unreal, Gears, and fable.

As much as I hate to say it, this game has gotten on my nerves a bit lately as well.
Some of it is due to some of the a-holes playing it, but as StormBringer said, the gameplay seems more off than usual.
I have also noticed instances of emptying more than a clip into an enemy, and they return fire and I'm dead in 2-3 shots with full health, seriously, how?  These were also in pretty much lag-free games as well.
I have one friend who won't even play the game anymore because of this very issue.

I won't give up on this game, but I'm sure some of you have noticed I haven't been playing it as much lately.  In fact I've been playing more than a few bot matches lately, me vs whole team of them just for something different to do in the game.

I just wish Microsoft would bite the bullet and fix a couple of these minor issues, just so we can play the game more smoothly again.

Then again, it only takes one person lagging with the client side hit detection to *** this all up, and maybe this is what we are experiencing here.  I don't know.  It would be nice to be able to view a players latency (ping) to see if that is what is causing these issues.

I might be having problems with my router because games keep disconnecting on me or it lags everyone out but me.  Nothing bothers me more then playing with a good group of people and BAM disconnected.

I have noticed something similar as well.

I don't know what is going on with Shadowrun lately, if it's LIVE related, or if possibly Microsoft has possibly "throttled back" band width allowed for this game and that's part of the problem or what, but it is getting frustrating, that much I do know.

I have also noticed an excessive amount of EV and Smartlink lately. There
use seems to have gone off the charts recently. Played a 4 v 4 yesterday
and the other team was all elves and everyone of them had both. I bought
EV just to see which one had it and sure enough they all glowed red on
my screen.

^ I made a rule for myself about SL.  If the other team is using SL and killing me with it I buy it and use it against.  If no one uses SL then I never buy it.  I love when the other team uses SL, I have an excuse to crush them with a cheap build.

I hate it when I get outshot by smatlink.  We all do.  But I hate it more when I not only get "pinged" by EV, but when the pinging is constantly happening, without so much as a hesitation between pings, in other words the whole team has it.  Talk about a team wasting money, only one person on the team needs it.

Yes there are counters to all of this, but I hate using smoke, so I deal with it as best I can.

But the lack of teamwork lately is a joke.  I used to love pub's, and couldn't stand private's, but I am starting to rethink this.  All the more reason for me to get my private server up and running...

Don't worry about smartlink.  I haven't played much Shadowrun lately but unless they've changed things it just aims for the body so if you shoot for the head you'll win every battle against someone using it.  Unless it's different now. 

I keep meaning to get back into this game too but can never find enough time.  It will probably take a few hours to really remember how to play again and I never seem to have more than enough time for a game or two.  Maybe this weekend.

It is such a shame that a great game can be ruined by its community of players, but this is exactly what has happened. I think it comes down to the sad fact that people on xbox live have no desire to work as a team. It fits in with the rest of society at the moment I suppose, arrogance and individualism are held up as the greatest ideals.

 

I will think twice before getting my hopes up for another game which requires team work. I will stick to games wher I don't have to rely on team mates, and can enjoy playin no matter what others do.

.....What a shame though

On a positive note, I met some great people, and had a REALLY good time playing this game.

There's no reason to give up on the game just because things look bad recently. Players who refuse to work as a team will get bored and leave and the die hard who love the game will be left. Just tale a break and come back in a week or two.

Hey I have a unique problem that occurs at least once a week. 

I'll be playing in a public with my party and the entire game lags out and my party is split.   I'll be the last one left in the game and sometimes I'll be dropped out to the menu.  But then I can't party up with anyone who I was in a party with a minute ago.  I can just into matchmaking, but can't do it with anyone else until I reset my Xbox.  Last time it happened I told my buddy not to reset his Xbox that I would only do it, but we still couldn't join up.  He then had to reset his Xbox for us to finally be able to party up.

Anyone else have this problem?

I've had the party split up and we all had to rejoin but no one ever had to
reset they're XBoxes.

Does anyone play like they used to anymore?  I went over to my gf's house yesterday and played on one of the random silvers they had on the comp and I saw some of the strangest sets ever.  I saw trolls buy wired first round which made me laugh at first and then I realized they were actually using it.  Honestly I had to buy tree 1st round because I didn't want to be the dwarf left all alone because everyone died.  Not one of them bought tree until about the 4th round.  WTF?

Pure disregard for team play.

I get so frustrated with some of these fools that I end up leaving.

I was in a game last night, and the only one with rez, I died in something like the eight round, and I said over my mic, "so am I still the only player with rez on the team?", to which I got a quick reply "probably".

I never leave in the middle of a game, because I don't want to be one of "those" d!cks that is the server and kills the game for everyone, so I always finish, then leave.  But lately I've been tempted, oh yes, I've been tempted.

As much as I hate to say it, I might have to start playing bot only matches, at least they know how to play as a team...

I agree, public matches have been going downhill.  It just doesn't feel the same anymore.  We need to revive the AAA Shadowrun account so we can continue to play with decent players.

On a side note, I got a PS3 and Killzone 2.  SR community >>> KZ2 community.  There is no communication in that game at all, it made me miss the SR community.

My Setup

Nope, you are correct, when with friends it is usually much different, but lately so many are taking "breaks" from this game that I rarely see one or two friends online playing at any given time, if even that many.

If you do indeed get to play all the time with large groups, and are non-offensive, fun-loving team players, win or lose, would you mind shooting me a f/r?  I'd sure love to continue playing this game with non d-bags.
