WARNING: Hackers posing as Developers!
It has come to our attention that console hackers have found a way impersonate other Xbox LIVE Gold Gamertags.

This affects the Call of Duty community as some hackers are impersonating the “JD 2020” Gamertag, which is the Treyarch community manager’s Gamertag. They are then tricking users into sending them money, Microsoft Points, or personal information under the pretext that they are a developer and will reward you with something (i.e. flashing clan tags, Map Packs, etc).

The vulnerability is strictly a cosmetic hack / mod which affects only the display name; people’s accounts who are impersonated are actually completely safe & secure. Microsoft has been made aware of this issue and is investigating it as we speak.

In the meantime, it is important you understand myself nor any representative of our games will ever personally ask you for money, personal information, Microsoft Points, etc in exchange for anything. Any and all transactions on LIVE should take place via the official Xbox LIVE Marketplace.

Regards,
-JD

He already gave  a BS excuse about it long ago, which is why I'm glad I'm not playing this game anymore.

Now that I have your attention, please give us info on a map pack 4. Is there anything planned or not, no details needed right now.

I love how society's IQ appears to be dropping at each year.

I like Ace Attorney games, Phoenix Wright/Apollo Justice.

Don't ask.

I love how everyone blames the hackers more like modders in my opinion but I think it's the people who fall for this crap fault. I mean every game and every company clearly states that no employee, regular or manager, will ever and I MEAN EVER ask you for you password. If your dumb enough to give it your just gullible and deserve for it to happen to you. No employee can give you any special nor ask you  for money. I mean it's so sad to see people fall for this it's just goes to show that our society is dumber and dumber and these kids need to learn not to give out anything. Congrats to the modders your doing everything right if they fell for it.

although i agree with you about people falling for this crap, probably 40% of the people on XBOX Live is under the age of 18, with almost all of their gaming going unsupervised by their parents. No 13 year old kid is going to read any of the terms, conditions, etc. so if someone sends them a reward for giving away information, heck, they will do it right away.

and you shouldnt be congratulating the modders in anyway.

I have reported these people consistently, but as normal, Microsoft's Complaint system is broke. I see them days later doing the same thing over and over. They need more in game reps actually playing with these people and killing accounts on the spot to get this garbage to stop.

I understand kids are kids and believe anything. But why shouldn't I congratulate them? It's not their fault kids & I'm sure adults fall for this. I mean yeah there really is no point in hacking/modding accounts. Oh well IDC I just fell they deserve it.

Reporting works sometimes, but truth is Microsoft really doesn't care in anyway what happens to you. Keywords = Microsoft & Broke. Look at all their OS's they are all broke and hackers love them. Microsoft I just money hungry and greedy so nothing ever works right and not to mention cheap, since they hire people out of country for service reps who don't know their quantum singularity from elbow.

That's a good idea....just as there are moderators in online web forums, there should be in-game moderators patrolling game lobbies.

If supply resources to patrol is too much, the moderators could be xbox live community gold members that volunteer and are provided with the administrative privilege to send warnings. If multiple warnings are sent, Microsoft could temporarily lock or permanently ban.

At the very minimum, they would provide a deterrent for morons.

I really wish this worked faster. Seen a ton of these lately, and the same gamertags over and over doing this. Get off your butts MS and get more people in these games banning accounts.

This is quite rampant now. Almost every room in HC Search.

You look at their gamer cards and they don't match their in game lobby names.
