Since Elder Scrolls 3, I've been dreaming of the series being an MMO (like World of Warcraft). Realistically, I'd guess it would be a party system, where could play with a limited amount of people in a group online.
I hate the idea of The Elder Scrolls being online. One of the things that makes it great is that you can immerse yourself in the world entirely and forget about everything else. I don't understand why people want every game to be online. I mean, yes if the game calls for multiplayer, do it, but The Elder Scrolls does not.
And having the ability to play online prevents you from being able to immerse yourself? There is nothing that makes you play a game online, unless you are one of those people that can't stand not getting every single achievement for every game you play.
People have fun playing games. People have fun hanging out with their friends. It seems natural to me that therefore people will enjoy hanging out with their friends while playing video games. We all have a built in desire to share the things that we enjoy with the people that we like. An online MP component means that they can do so even when they are not able to physically be in the same place. That is why people want every game to have a MP component.
I would prefer the next Elder Scrolls game to be single player for the reason I love to immerse myself in an RPG game. But even if they do incorparate a MP option, does NOT mean that you HAVE to play it like that. There are plenty of online games out there which you can play story co-op if you like, but also on your own. There is going to be no one to force anyone to play it online. Myself, I would give it a try but probably stick to offline gaming for it.
Bethesda, in my opinion, should stick to keeping it an offline game, so they can focus on making it a class game, thats better than Oblivion. I would prefer to see a bigger game world for a start, if its possible, and no loading times for entering cities. Also, if its possible. Plus many other things to make it better. Longer story quest for starters, and more side quests, and small towns but, its all down to space and would the game run smoothly.
Guess we'll just have to wait and see what they present to us when its finally finished. Now lets stop this topic, as its been around longer than a cheap 60 year old prostitute!
