Games for Windows
Okay, here is the thing, I recently picked up Fallout 3 GOTY Games for Windows Live. I have it up and running along with the Add-Ons of Broken Steel, The Pitt, Point Look Out, Mothership Zeta and Operation Anchorage. I have already played through all of both the DLC and Fallout 3 Game on Xbox LIVE and thought it was that great of a Game. I figured I would play it again on Games for Windows Live.

No here is the problem, why can't I Sign-In on Games for Windows Live Forums. If I try to Sign in using my Profile, it goes to "GamerTag Not Found"? If go to Create a Profile (even trying to ask in those Forums what's wrong with another Profile), it takes me to Xbox.com (Home Page) with my Profile Signed in? I do have a Games for Windows Profile, that at least was as simple as Signing in with my Windows Live ID.

I know this is a little Off Topic but as seeing how Xbox LIVE and Games for Windows Live is one and the same Service including my Profile, what am I doing wrong?

Re: Games for Windows
There is definitely something wrong with the GFW forums right now.

I haven't been there in a while, but I do know that I've been able to sign into the GFW forums with my gamertag nCogNeato in the past.

I even tried the "forgot password" option at the forum sign-in, and the following page said I would receive an email within 15 minutes.  It has now been over 2 hours and no email.

Re: Games for Windows
Okay, well at least that is some relief, I'm not alone on this. I thought maybe I just went completely brain-dead and could not figure how to Sign In, lol I need a new course on "how to open an email".

And Zen if you look on the Top of the page of Games for Windows Live with another Site already Signed-In (like this or your Windows Live ID, Email or whatever) it shows that you are Signed into GrWL as well. Just when you try to go to either Post or Reply it comes up, you need to Sign-In. Try it it, it's rather frustrating, it will go to "The GamerTag does not Exist" or "Invalid Credentials/ Email/ Password". If you go to the Sign Up Page it Links back here to the Home Page of Xbox.com, with you Signed in, no less?!

Another sympton I noticed that is probably a sign something is wrong ...

When I used to visit the GFW site, it would show my info at the top/right of the page (similar to xbox.com).  However, now the area is just blank, even though I am signed into the site.

Okay, that makes sense and that's what I thought it should be. With my Profile Signed In it does not show my Profile on the top right, it only says Signed-In.

I have the same problem regardless of which Browser I try. I've also tried to use both Firefox and IE8 without any success.

I'll take you step-by-step.  Please let me know when/if/how something is wrong.

  1. I click on the link you posted above.  I see THIS.
  2. I click the "Sign In" link at the top/right of the page and immediately see THIS.  Notice that I now appear to be signed into the forum.
  3. I click on one of the threads and I see THIS.  Again, notice that the top/right of the page displays that I am currently signed in.
  4. I click on "Reply" to post a comment on the thread and I am redirected.  I now see THIS.  Notice that the top/right still says I am signed in, but I am now being prompted to sign in again.
  5. I attempt to sign in again, and I am redirected.  I now see THIS.
  6. The page tells me my GamerTag is "Not Found", and provides a link that will supposedly direct me to a page to create one.  I click on the link and I see THIS.  Now we're back to where we started.

If anyone has any insight, please share.

This is another reason I suspect something is wrong with the GFW Forums.

It's now been 5 days (3 business days), and I have still not received an email.

lol thank you. That is the exact same "issue" I have with the Site. Good pictures as well, it shows you are Signed In on top, yet it redirects to a Sign-In or Create a Profile from Xbox.com?!

I have one, it's Signed-In, ie No Post/ Reply?!

Re: Games for Windows

I just accessed the Games for Windows Live Forums, has your profile timed out, in which case, go to Xbox.com, sign out, sign in, go to forums. But, make sure that your Live ID with your linked gamertag is signed in, then get into the GFWL forums. Hope this helps.

Sorry but no go, I get This Page. It is my Windows Live ID when Signed-In, both for my Xbox 360 and my Windows Live Profile (on my PC).

No worries, I've been exposed to a lot worse, that was almost pleasant but anywho, back to the problem;

Try going to Login.Live.com and signing in - Change your password to a new password there, try signing in again.

The forums are pretty buggy over there..
Suggestion.. after you log in, when you want to reply to a post and you see that log in screen again (step 4), just hit back and try again. Don't log in again because that is what causes that Credential error screen. Another suggestion is when you get to the forums, click on the view more link and THEN try to respond. Let us know how it works for you.

Tried it before, no go but thanks anyways. Is there anything I'm missing, all other Windows Live ID Sites Sign-In without issues.

What browser are you using?
I would try clearing your browsers cache and cookies. Then trying to go to the site again, also maybe try a different browser

As for Xbox topics, in the GFWL Forums, just follow the TOS like any other forums site and everything will be fine.
I am relatively new to the GFWL Forums, but as an active user and one who sole purpose is to help users along in their quest for a smooth gaming experience, regardless of the platform, just ask and I will help as much as I can. And I will point you in the right direction if that is needed.

Re: Games for Windows
I'm sorry if anybody gets the wrong idea here by reading jedimasters post, we at the Games for Windows forum are just like any other forum, and do have several whiners and "purists", or simply trolls.

You will find though, that there are many helpful and insightful people there.

After all we are one large community, all gamers, and as such brothers (and sistersWink [;)]), so do not let a few bad remarks let you believe all PC gamers are d!cks.

As for your problem, it is possible that some of your system files may not be up to date, if you could do a windows update on your system that might help, although note that usually if your system is out of date, several updates may be required (I mean you may have to do another update after you restart your system).

I don't have time at the moment to fully read your post, but I will later this evening when I am able to study the problem a little more.

right now i think the standard ban time is 72 hours, i think, so give it a day or two, and if not, perhaps send a direct message to GFWLMod for an appeal.
