Okay! So I have read all about having to get these achievements on the difficulty you beat the game. I originally beat the game on Normal but beat it on Hard a little while afterward. The only achievements I have left to get are the Knife/Pistol ones. Do I have to get them on Hard? Also, does anyone know if they have to be new kills. In other words, if I have 60 total kills on Shiloh, is it only the new people I kill (over 60) that will count towards this achievement? I have a feeling it is but I dont wanna waste my time trying to do this all on hard...again...Any help yould be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Hmm, I hadn't heard that you had to get the achievements on the difficulty you beat the game on.  I'm not sure it's true, because I got the knife achievement while playing on easy before I'd finished the game.  When I did finish the game it was on hard.

Of course I'm having trouble getting the pistoleer achievement now that I have finished the game, maybe I need to go back and try to kill more on hard, since I've primarily been trying it on easy.

Yea I beat the game on normal and had only 2 more hard missions to go on hard so I just beat them. Then I tried to go back on easy and get my knife/pistol achievements and it didnt work. Then I read about having to do it on whatever level you beat it on. I also think it has to be "new" kills that you get to actually get the achievement. Can anyone let me know if they find this to be true?

If it has to be new kills I may be well and truly screwed, I think I've already killed just about everybody on each of the levels.  At least my kill count never goes up when I replay, for either the level or in total.

Oh, and I tried deleting everything in the Civil War game folder from my hard drive and restarting, hoping that would reset the killcount and let me start over.  It doesn't.

HaHaHa! I did the exact same thing. Hoping that when I restarted the game it would start me over, yea it doesn't. I think you just have to go through and run around EVERYWHERE and see if you can find every single guy. As much as I would like to get the last 2 achievements for my 1000 pts. I think we are screwed. Keep me posted if you get any info or find something that works.

achievements aren't glitched.  they've all worked for me.  if it helps, i did get them all before i finished the game (except for the deadeye in antiach (sp?)).  just keep pluggin along, they'll eventually unlock.

I'm having problems right now with the knife achievement and I didn't go after this until after I beat the game. I had a problem with the pistol achievement after beating the game too and it took twice as many kills with it than it was supposed to and my total kill count only went up by 27 but I did finally get it  so "all new kills" can't be the problem that many are having getting this.

The only thing I am thinking with the "new kills" is, that you may have beat the game with like 75 pistol kills already then only needed the 27 more for the achievement. But I could be way wrong. I think this was just a poorly made game, as great as it was.

In theory that would make sense but I only had one or two pistol kills at most after I completed the game. I also got the General achievement(750 kills) with a total of 717. I also still can't get the knife achievement even though I know I have to be over 400 knife kills now.

Its tru about the new kills i beat the game on easy with 560 kills total.Then i started back on hard and cant seem 2 get pistol achievmenti have gone through first 4 levels and only added 26 more kills to my total..You have to wait and kill new enemys.if you can find them ,it helps to explore..

The sword and knife are not the same and certain levels you will start out with the knife. I finally got the achievement but it was after I had to play through many levels over and over. I'll confirm too that it has to be new kills to get that achievement.

This has got to be the most jacked up achivement. I have tried all the levels with the knife multiple times on hard, the level I beat the game on, to no avail. I can not seem to unlock the achievement. I must be missing something important...

Doesn't appear to be.  Even deleting your profile doesn't help.  I've got the same problem, but with the pistol achievement.

Maybe this can help...Does anyone know all the levels in which the knife is used? I know there is one for the union and about 3 for the rebels, but don't remember the battle names.

I don't know what half you guys are talking about.  After I beat the game on normal I just went and did Shilolo (or whatever it is) on easy, and got the knife achievement first.  Then I redid the level and just used the pistol, and got that one as well.  You do not have to do it on hard or anything like that.  Just put it on easy, and it's easy as ***.  Takes 10 minutes a piece.

I don't know what YOU'RE talking about. I have played it 20+ times on many various levels on many various difficulties. I beat 3 levels on easy only using the knife (Shiloh included.) I just gave up and really dont care cause I know I have over 300 kills with both.

I was thinking that in my head, man... my head... thats what I was thinking just now about.

All this is true because I had to do it.  I beat the game on hard and had to go back for the pistoleer achievement.  What ever level of difficulty you beat the game on you will have to play at that level or higher.  Not only that you will have to have "new kills".  Example:  You have 60 kills on Bull Run.  The game will not record any kills by the pistol before 60.  Bull Run is where I got my Pistoleer achievement.  After you get the explosives go down the road until you come to the spot where the barrel rolls in to the fire and explodes.  To the right of the road are two Northern cannons.  Kill the soldiers there and more will keep replacing them.  Remember,  use every other weapon until you reach your previous max kill then go for head shot w/ the pistol.  As for the knife, good luck.

Just thought of it.  Use the same method for the knife.  Come to a spot on any level w/ the knife where the enemy keeps coming at you and kill until you reach your previous max.  Then continue the level using the knife.

Hi all, I spent a couple days trying to get this achievement and I finally did unlock it. I like many others here played through the game on hard first beating it and even worse I had more than 800 kills when I finished and had got the exploration bonus on every level. I played through it again on easy using only one pistol shot each level and then using knife the rest of level when I could. I was very confused when the knife achievement did not unlock.

I did however get both the knife and pistol by playing a couple diff levels in one session.By that I mean without exiting the game to dashboard or signing out, restarting etc.

Now say that your first time around when you beat the game on hard you got 80 knife kills, if you are like me you probably got quite a bit less than that, but just go with it. If your play-thru on hard had 80 knife kills you will need to get only 20 knife kills on any one level on any difficulty. "new kills" do not get recorded unless your score exceeds the top score for any given level. Same thing goes for the pistol, but it HAS to be the remington or the colt. Problem is that most people do not know how many they had and were counnting on getting it in an easy run through.

For the knife:
Anyway I had used the knife very rarely throughout the game and was able to get the knife achievement by replaying."Shiloh" on hard. Use only the knife and you should be able to get about 80 or so kills give or take depending on how the game is feeling that round. That will do it for most people. If it does not unlock on hard try the same level again on normal and be sure not to sign out or exit to dashboard.

For the pistol:
This is a little more complicated because you need just about every kill with the pistol to be a headshot. Load up chattanooga on any difficulty(?) I did it on easy. AFTER beating the game on hard. Enemy concentration will be greater so if easy doesnt do it try normal or hard. As you go through the trenches, headshot every person you see until you approach a spot that looks kind of like a gate to your right behind it will be a large board and a baddie who pops his head out and shoots a pistol. Around the corner there will be three enemies wielding pistols. Draw them down into the trench by jumping up and down right in front of them, then headshot them and pick up their ammo. Rinse and repeat. After that, you will notice a gatling on the left. Hop on it, but dont kill any of the soldiers that appear with the gatling. Instead jump off and start popping heads off, till you run out of ammo. Some of those enemies will be carrying pistols if you need ammo draw them down and headshot them, there is also a small box of revolver ammo to the right of the gatling, and a health pack. I think the enemies will come infinitely here, unless you kill them with the gatling. I am not quite sure, but if for some reason you run out of heads move forward a little and there will be another gatling.

This method worked for me and I hope this helps some people!!
