Exactly, I am excited to try this game but can't shake the feeling that it really is an XBox live arcade downloadable.

I will never pay $60 for it.  They should really wake up and realize that what they have produced is a game that they may be able to sell for $30 out of the box.

I will wait patiently until it dives down in price.

I am really looking forward to this title and have actually played it - its quite fun. From my expierence I can tell you this:

Upon first look it seems like it would be an XBLA title, I agree, and the price does suck, but upon further inspection you realize that Monster Madness is a completionists dream come true! While it may feel a bit linear at times you soon realize that ther is a ton of stuff to collect (pipes, nuts, bolts, etc.) in order to build some interesting weapons like pipe shotguns, multi-disc CD launchers, radiation flashlights (looks like something out of poltegiest :D ) and not only are there a ton of weapons, but there are three tiers to each weapon.
In regards to the difficulty settings...I was rather dissapointed as they all seem to be quite tough even on the easiest setting. Hopefully they are still under construction. Also, at the end of each level you are graded on close to a dozen things: number of monsters slayed, combos, time taken, percent of items collected...stuff like that. This, in turn contributes to achievements and unlockable extras.
I only got to play the first few levels which included Suburbia and the next one which was a huge park, but it was definitely not something to be found on XBLA.

If this where released on Xbox Live Arcade there would be some issues of it being 2GB and it would best atleast 2500MS Points.

What's wrong with the controls? I will admit that I dislike the driving/steering controls. They change when the camera changes. But, in their defense (SouthPeak & Artificial) I like the general layout of the controls; they aren't the same old "Halo" control scheme that, apparently, everyone deems a standard now.

Um... ya... an xbox live arcade download for 10$. However there is more then 2 gigs of data on the dvd... That's one overloaded arcade download your talking about.
