Just to document the process this time, everything went alot faster which is definately a good thing. Sent my console in 1 week ago today and it has already begun its journey home. Not sure if I am getting the same console back or a refurb tho as the support website is down.

Towelee....Same here.  I sent mine in on Monday June 15.  As of today Friday June 19, it is already on its way home.

Here is something odd.  When you print out your UPS label it says that the package is 1 pound shipping weight.  I just called and got the tracking number for the return home and it says that the shipping weight is 8 pounds.  Can anyone out there tell me why.  8 pounds seems a little heavey for a 360 but 1 pound seems a little light.

Mine said 1lb at first too but that was just for the coffin itself. Once the Xbox was in it was changed to 8lbs.

I was hoping that the difference in weight ment that they were sending me an new xbox with a new power brick.  One can dream I guess.

so im too lazy to look through all these pages to see if someones already answered this. does anyone know if you send in a special edition 360 with the RRoD do they send you a special edition back or just a regular 360?

Not sure how it works.  I heard guys sending in their limited editions and getting the same one back, or at least it was the same housing with different guts.  I also heard of guys sending in limited editions and getting regular 360 back.

I would assuem since it is a limited edition, they would send it back to you fixed or with new guts.

I was told by the resolution manager that you should always get back the same edition whether it is the same console or not.

Re: RETURN, REPAIR, and SHIPPING DISCUSSION (Thread 2)
Depends on whether they are repairing it or replacing it. Mine took mere hours.

Also after waiting 2 days for my package to arrive after it was scheduled I contacted UPS and they stated that the package was lost and that MS needed to file a lost package claim. After 2 hours on the phone with 4 different customer service reps I was told that MS doesn't file claims for packages that are considered "in transit" and I should just wait and hope that the console arives in the future...And just when I thought my faith in MS couldn't possibly be any lower...

Re: RETURN, REPAIR, and SHIPPING DISCUSSION (Thread 2)

Just got back my 1 & a half year old 360 after being repaired from E74. They said they replaced the mother board and DVD drive and the serial is still the same. So do you think more stable components have been installed so I could possibly see my 360 survive at least more that year?

Re: RETURN, REPAIR, process
OK my ELITE 360 just crapped out on me! (3arc RRoD) after doing some research, and reading this thread, I am very discouraged about the repair process, and furthermore concerned I will get another Re-Ferb'd machine. and not my counsole back ???

Question one: Is there an actual fix to the 3arc RRoD problem, or do they just give you another counsole that they "Fixed" and call it your new Xbox360? (ELITE!!)

Q2: Does anyone know what I have to ship other then the unit its self?  TV connector/Power cables? do I need to send controler(s)? like it was when I got it? do they need my extra hard drive sent with? (what is the minimum I need to ship?)

I am not sure about the warrenty, but I think its been just under a year..(not that I wouldnt pay the $99.99 if they actually repair my counsole.)

Any related news, links, help, or suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks

Re: RETURN, REPAIR, process

You get a re-Ferb'd machine somone else's broken console that they fixed.
Just ship the unit NOTHING else.Don't forget to take the hard drive off!

if it's the 1,3 4 red rings [e74 error}it's free microsoft extended everyones warranty 3 years for that.Sign in to the support page with your serial # to see when your warranty is up.
You need your own box to ship it in to.
it should be 2 weeks before you get it back from the day you ship it.
mine will be 2 weeks, even though they didn't put the projected arrival date up yet , it seems like it'll be 2 weeks compared to the amount of time it took to get there.

Okay, My Xbox 360 got the "E74" Error Message and when I try to get Microsoft to send me a shipping box to ship my Xbox 360 into repairs, It always says "Invalid Postal Code". But it IS the correct Postal Code! Could someone tell me why this is happening! Or tell me why Microsoft Customer Service SUCKS! (Im really pissed off!).

I sent my Xbox off June 16,2009 on June 19,2009 they sent me and email stating they received my XBox then on June 20,2009 I received another email stating they was shipping my XBox off. I told them to not send me a refurbished XBox and what did they do, send me one anyway, make it so bad my son only had his XBox for 6 months and only played the system maybe twice a month. I will never purchase anything from XBox again. I will stick with the Wii and Playstation 3. Getting a refurbish game is like buying a used one.

Re: RETURN, REPAIR, and SHIPPING DISCUSSION (Thread 2)
I knew I would see this thread again, just didnt know how soon. My xbox has tanked a total of 6 times now, and this latest run lasted almost two years. Not bad, but not thrilled either. - I filled out a online repair, got the box sent to me (did this thursday, box was suppose to be air mailed overnight for next day delivery) - Got nothing Friday - Updated Saturday with it being in the next town over, have to wait till Monday for delivery. - Now its Monday, and nothing yet. hasnt been updated or anything. Im quite upset really. It says 2-3 weeks to repair, which is fine.. but you know, after the 2-3rd time, it got old, but now Xbox #6, please. Im just really tired of dealing with this, especially when theres new Gears of War 2 DLC coming out later next month, and for the fact that my main console is down. I spend alot of money on live service, points, games and such.. and truely, i got nothing to show for it.. because my xbox isnt up half the time for me to play. Im tired of getting refurbished units back that dont last long at all. Why even send out ones that you peice together, if your not even going to attempt to fix them properly? If i had the cash, id buy a new 360 and just say done with this refurbished ***, but i cant afford it.. so im stuck again, waiting for another xbox that most likely will fail in the coming weeks to months.

Im sending off my 360 for the second time tomorrow, after getting the 3 rrod again. Is it likely my 360's motherboard be replaced with one of the new ones with smaller processor that produce less heat?

Thanks in advance.

SV: Re: RETURN, REPAIR, and SHIPPING DISCUSSION (Thread 2)
Hi, I've been a happy xbox 360 owner since late 2007 but earlier this weekend I experinced RROD. I called the support and they sent UPS to pick it up the next day.

Right now my xbox is on reapair in Germany I think.

Anyway, when I get it back, is there any way I can use, and/or, place it to somewhat prevent an eventual upcoming RROD?

I currently keep it horizantal on the livingroom floor, but I've heard that keeping it vertically is better to prevent overheat. The problem is that according to a rumor it's a greater chance for the system to scratch my disc's in vertical position.

Is there a way to prevent this unfortunate inconvinence, or is it simply a construction failure (overlooked) by microsoft in order to get the system on the market before the PS3?

Edit: I've even considered buying a jasper right of the bat since it died, since I don't want this to happen since I play every day. I got a falcon ship in my current box, I think. I got warranty, but having to wait for 2-4 weeks is almost unbearable since I, as mentioned, play it every day. Maybe I should get a jasper, next time it breaks down, since it probably will... But the jasper chipset has only been on the market so long, and I don't know yet if it'll break within 1 1/2 years or so.

Why is it that I can't get to my shipping label online?  I got the e-mail on Sunday/Monday and when I click the link and go to "Check Repair Status" there is no where for me to put in my Service Request Number.  And it says I don't have a console registered with this ID which is crap.

Interesting. The only thing i could honestly tell you is to do one of the following.. - recheck the site, like login with your windows live id, and then go to support, and click "check repair status" - Reenter your console for a repair and see if that fixes anything - call(1800-4my-xbox) or contact microsoft from the support page via email.

Re: SV: Re: RETURN, REPAIR, and SHIPPING DISCUSSION (Thread 2)
Double Post, sorry guys. Anyway, My xbox rod'd for a 6th time last Wednesday. After setting everything up on Thursday, i got a box delivered Monday. I took it down to the local UPS store and dropped it off later that day. It was being sent by "Next Day Air Saver". No worries, its on its way. I checked Tuesday Morning to see where my box was, and it already was in Texas at the repair center, and was signed by a guy named "Lopez". Last night i got a email from Microsoft support saying my Xbox had been received and it will take 5-10 business days for it to be fixed, then returned. I woke up this morning and checked my emails, and i had two from microsoft, both stating my xbox had been repaired, and that its being shipped. I got my tracking number and it says its been mailed "Next Day Air Saver." I must say, i'm pretty happy overall with how this turned out. Typically when my other xbox's went down, it took weeks, and at one point MONTHS to get a console back.. so this fast of a repair makes me extremely happy. I must applaud Microsoft for such a fast return, excellent.
