OK, here's my final post! :)

So I can almost definitavely say that the disc itself contributes to this problem. Not entirely new news, but after 4 attempts with my DVD, I borrowed a friend's disc and tried the exact same stuff* and got through on the first try. Woo-hoo. What a relief. Now all I have left is one more bonus level (Empire's 1M studs on foot) and I will be bathing under a spigot to earn my last multipliers and the 100%. It's actually within my reach now - what a relief.

*I did all of the steps above, only possible difference was that I also blew up everything in the tree on the near side of the river.

holy crap i beat it! i shot eveything and and everyone i could before the river. then i pick R2D2 and went up the water fall and then sowly moved with my crew. i turned everything to 0 no music and turned off everything i could. for the death star i had the 10 extra minutes so i just went with the flames. got 100% but no achivement LOL

This is driving me nuts. I am at 98/99, have all minikits and powerbricks. I have tried to get past the river atleast 4 times now.

I have tried destroying nothing.
Destroy everything go left with R2.
Stay in water with R2.

I ahve turned everything off.
Vibrate: Off, Music: 0, Bloom: 0

Nothing is working for me. I am about to just give up, which is a real same because I really liked this game. It's even worse by the fact that I cant skip the cinematics.

I had it freeze up once in regular story mode right past the river.

360 is fairly new, bought Jan 07. Disc is not scratched. 360 is well ventilated sitting on a desk.

I have read this thread and tried just about everything, bah.

I have not tried Episode VI Super Story yet but I get a freeze problem on Epsiode V Super Story everytime-well atleast the last 3 times I tried it. And I guess you can't get achievments in Super Story mode either? cause I finished Eposide V Chapter 1 without dieing in Super Story and didn't get the achievment.

Personally, I am having this issue as well as many others, so let's start an official thread concerning this.  Here is what we know:

There are two places this has reported to occur:

1) Crossing the river in chapter 4 - Endor

2) Flying out of the deathstar after blowing the reactor in Chapter 6 - Deathstar II

Known *possible* solutions:

Endor: Cross the river with everyone on screen.  Do not jump, cross at much as possible to the left, do not blow up the plants immediately in front of the river.  (none of these are yet confirmed)

Deathstar II:  It has been reported that turning off vibration while leaving the Deathstar.  However, this seems to have no effect on the Endor problem.

If any of the above solutions worked for you, then please let us know.

Theories:

Bad game disk batches and some esoteric bug are the main theories, but the cause is really unknown.  One thing to note is that this always seems to occur in the same two places.  Exchanging your game disc for a new one has worked for some. 

Questions for those that got through:

If you were able to complete the Episode VI superstory:

When, during your progress, did you go through the superstory?  i.e. - was it the first or last bonus mission for each episode? did you have all the minikits?  how many undefeated achievements? how many gold bricks, etc.?

Did you get through the first time? 

If not, what did you do differently?

Lastly, let's not create a flame war against the game developers here.  Believe me, I can personally understand the frustration, but this will not solve anything!  Instead, please use this thread to help research the issue, and hopefully we'll come up with the exact solution for the problem at hand.

My legos game freezes as soon as it loads up.. cannot even play at all. I updated it... the disc is free of scratches.. and I don't know what to do...Am I going to have to delete all of my saves and start from scratch? That's a bummer if I have to do that...

i was lucky. i got thru it first time with no hint of the game crashing.  was just going thru it as fast as i could and the game went by perfectly.

On the first Death Star in Episode IV...

If you get freezing when you are supposed to switch to the third "area", try this:

Don't hold down the firing button like a trigger happy idiot.  For some reason this causes freezing.  Only fire when you have to.

i've only gone and done it!!!
i'd cleared the cache on the hdd and turned off vibration and music. was playing offline and had no option for bloom, so this might have been in the title update. i hadn't done the update again since i cleared the hdd.

Are you rushing through it?

I found not going too fast helped because the disc could keep up and not crash.

You get the achievement for points too so as long as you have enough points your time doesn't matter.

well i m rushin all the levels before endor yes..But endor itself im doin very slow..U cant destroy half the things around the river like the black plants and the the shiny block maybe thats my problem.  In free play i didn t have any problem whatsoever and not even in normail story mode..

What if someone like me...who it did work for...was to read your post and then not bother trying.... i would still be stuck so telling people not to waste their time IS pointless.  Calling them "fat wife lies" (never heard that saying before) IS pointless, they are not lies if they work for even one person....he never guaranteed success for everyone, he was just trying to be helpful.

Your mention of being able to by the budget version and not have the problems is VERY valid and if that had been the point of your post, people may be championing you rather than ridiculing you

The problem is he's allover the Lego Star Wars forums saying the same thing over and over.  I was looking at the most recent threads in LSW section and saw that he was in them ridiculing people with his stylized spelling and sayings so I mentioned it a couple of times and now I'm his "beeoch boy" and I'm a "forum stalker".  You just have to ignore people like him.

all this is bullsh*t i tryed everything on this page and nothing work just do what i did go to wal-mart or whereever and look for the 19.99 family hit of starwars take it home and ur good i just got all my 99brickz and now have my kidz running around the founatin of studz. 100% here i come!!! no thankz to this bullsh*t page

 

the superstories were the last things i sis an i did them co-op therfore there was more activity at anyone time on the screen but had no problems, maybe this is the solution for others too

Relating to the coop thing...

All the freezing problems I've had while playing by myself seemed to magically go away while I was playing cooperatively.  I dunno how to explain it...perhaps the game has less going on when two people are playing at the same time, perhaps Kirk's son wasn't killed by the evil invisible hamsters so the world doesn't freeze up suddenly and makes you restart your 360...

Seriously...I tested it out, before you go into a level or Super Story, make sure both controllers are on and that the second player is actually in the game (other wise you'll occasionally have freezing problems if they join mid level...), then start up your chosen level (say the Death Star level or Endor...), then go ahead and play however you want.  No, really, go ahead and play how you want.  You won't get any freezing...okay, I can't promise this, but I haven't gotten any freezing while playing cooperatively.  Now, if you want to play by yourself, you could just turn on the second controller and make sure that the second player stays on the screen so that the computer AI doesn't take over (just activate player 2 again if they get set back over to the AI)...
