Battlestations : 2010

Wouldn´t it be sweet to have a modern version of Battlestations? Advanced technologi such as jetfighters, nuclear subs, ICBM´s, Tomahawks etc.

I´m playing the demo to the best of my abilities cause the full game is not yet availible in my area :-(. Thought i´d mention that before i got flamed for already talking about a new game.

Personally I'd rather see a sci-fi type, or some market place content further fleshing out the current midway.

Modern warfare engagements with all the smart weaponry and extreme range engagements just kills it for me.

If they did that, then it would end rather fast when the first 2 people get there balistic sub in the bay, and target your airfeild and ship yard. So the games would only last a matter of 5 mins, just enough time to launch every missle you have at the other team.

Now if they made it based off 1960-1970, then  it might  be different. Not as many Laser guided  stuff back then, and you would get to fly the F-4 and A-6 and E/A-6B.

That would be awesome!   I could sit on one side of the map, launch 1 missile at the shipyards and 1 missile at the airfields, do nothing and win!  Damn that would be a fun 30 seconds.  Select the sub click RB "nuke" then send it to the shipyards, repeat for airfields.   And just think, the japs wouldnt be able to detect your subs either!

Do you think Japan doesent have a modern navy too? China, Swedan and Norway all have some of the best navys in the world and probaley could defeat the modern American navy. Actually Germany, France, United Kingdom and Japan inculding the above could all kick the USA's navy's ***!

Even combined they wouldn't do much more than scratch our Navy.  Perhaps if all our ships were in drydock, and all our aircraft's engines were being overhauled, perhaps then they might stand a chance.  Doubtful, but there is a possibility.  Canada S.D.F. ( Snowmobile Defense Force) on the otherhand has top notch snowmobile technology, the United States of America's snowmobiles wouldn't stand a chance.

first off, learn how to post once... and snowmobiles? come on, try harder than that.

Well excuse me, but there kept being a error message saying the post wouln't go through, and when it finally did there were multiple post so get over it. And I don't care if you don't take Canada's artic warfare ability seriously, you will when they invade Alaska.

Oh yeah, you swearing and threatening to hunt people down was real creative, I commend you on your ability to instill fear in the fearless.

Re: Battlestations : 2010

Well, as many other threads this one has gone on a sidetrack.

" So the games would only last a matter of 5 mins, just enough time to launch every missle you have at the other team. "

" I could sit on one side of the map, launch 1 missile at the shipyards and 1 missile at the airfields, do nothing and win!  Damn that would be a fun 30 seconds. "

Come on guys, i expected a lot better than that, where´s your fantasy? Have you ever heard of a war being won simply by firing missiles at eachother ( i think not )? No, it´s a simple matter of game programming implementing these advanced features and still balancing gameplay.

Re: Battlestations : 2010
I see people talking about who has the best Navy. I went to a Navy day at a dockyard where i live and i have to say, The German and Netherland Navy had ships wich were more advanced than what the US Navy brought. The British were on par with USA. But ive got to admit that USA has bigger Aircraft carriers and planes (i think).

Also, i bet quite a few Americans didnt know their Navy was invented by somone from Scotland.

US fleet would obliterate any force going against it, purely down to size, they have by far the largest. The British fleet is tiny in comparisson and going through a re-think atm.

Granted some of the european ships are technologically superior.

I'm a brit btw.

Re: Battlestations : 2010
the only thing the american  fleets have going for them is the carriers and aegis ships. however, the british have the best submarine force, including training! 6 years ago, during a joint exercise, the brits did a destoyer up with lights and a bengali speaker on the radio, they got within 2 miles of a  carrier and 'sunk' it........they made out they were a indian tour ship!!! its not how good or how many ships a navy has,its about the intelligence of the captains who control them.

The US would win a naval war against most countries simply with numbers if nothing else. Individually, many of those countries that have ships that are more advanced, and taken on a one on one basis, could win.

Not even necessarily Star Wars.  I just want huge capital ships broadsiding eachother with powerful blaster cannons.  Little fighters/bombers/corvettes zipping in and out trying to oust eachother and destroy the capital ships.

There was a game like that for the PC Star Wars Rebellion. It was a strategic game that let you command your fleets during battle. I dont think it did too well, but with modern graphics and playstyle could be cool.

True true, WWI was the true age of the dreadnaughts. Ships slugged it out without the benefit of planes, active sonar, or radar.
