Re: Armored Core 4 Info Guide.

Just got this game yesterday and I need a few pointers. I like to think I'm an AC veteran, having owned all the western releases since the first back on PS1. The new menu system is damn confusing to say the very least. Is there anyone who can explain things such as the schematics menu and the acsis menus? I can navigate my way around them but I just dont see the point of the Schematic screen at all. And some of the sections such as stabilizers and tuning etc are unclear or annoying to go through and I end up leaving the mech alone. Which is not something I did in the original games. I used to love customising my mech etc but now I feel, in trying to symplify it they have actually made it more difficult to do!! Just my opinon. As a big fan of the series I'd have to say nothing will ever beat the fun and excitement of playing the first game, with its multiple paths, longer and more abundant missions etc and infinitely more customisation options. But hey, they never normally get remakes/sequels right do they? lol

Re: Armored Core 4 Info Guide.
Yesterday huh, well first of all.  Make sure you get a good amount of practice in this game, before going online.  Trust me, I know.  I thought I was really good, till I got online.  Now that I got that out of the way, sure here's an explanation of the menus.

Well on the first screen:
on the left-hand side is chapter mission list and description
once you beat the game once, it turns into a mission list
the chapter list is still accessible by pressing the right bumper

on the right-hand side is the menu for viewing schematics, ACSIS, and the system
the system you should know due to the fact your not new to the series
the schematics and acsis are another story

The schematics menu is for viewing all of the ACs you have created or are prebuilt
the main, stock-A, b ,c and d are meaningless except for helping you organize your maximum of 100 custom             ACs
all - shows all of them
       enemy - unlocked enemy acs
company standard - unlocked prebuilt acs
trade - acs gotten over an online trade

in the shematics menu you can load an ac to use in the game
note: there is another schematics menu in the acsis menu, but they are the same, except for minor details which are explained later

ACSIS menu - don't know what it means, so don't ask
this is basically the garage, as in previous games in the series
in this menu, you can customize any of your 100 manually built acs
note if you try to modify a premade ac, it will ask you to make a copy of it
on the left are different options
weapon - a shortcut to the weapons section of the cutomization
assembly - start cusomization from the ground up
note: you have to have a prebuilt ac to start from, there are not any default machines to start from like in                             previous games

paint - well color it, put logos on it, put your emblem, make an emblem
simulator - basically the arena, 100% free of charge, you don't even have to "build" an ac
when you exit the acsis menu, you save the new ac configuration.
if you don't have all the parts, didn't buy them, you are asked to when you leave
you don't need to if you just want to use it in multiplayer or the simulator, or in test mode.
but to leave, if you don't buy the parts, you will need to change acs

    tutorial - its the tutorial
shematics - the only thing different here is the fact you can edit and rename them and move them and copy them

that should be it, if you think i missed anything let me know.

Re: Armored Core 4 Info Guide.

Thats lovely, cheers mate. So the Schematics menu is kinda like where you can view all the types of AC's you've unlocked etc. Do I have to pay anything for them? Or can I simply make a copy of the schematic and thats it, I've got that mech to play with? I'm still a little fuzzy on the whole stablizer menu as well but I think I might just leave that alone.

I'm getting the hang of it again but one or two of the missions early on are quite hard. I'm in chapter 3, trying to destroy the transports that fly over the very high bridge, in missions like this do I just have to kill the red targets on my radar? Because some missions I just get battered senseless trying to get to the main targets, such as the one with the war ships in the water that you have to destroy, also in chapter 3 I believe. When I send my 360 back for repair on monday I might just have to dig out the original game, I used to love using the moonlight laser sword. Does anyone know if a similar sword becomes available at all? For those who dont know the moonlight, if you completed certain conditions, when you swing it, also let out a devastating energy discharge that flew straight ahead and was powerful enough to take out most none raven ac's in one go. GOD I miss that weapon.

Anyway thanks again for some very usefull information!

I forgot to ask. Whats this FRS stuff?? Where do I use it? And is there no list or ratings section for the ravens anymore? That sucks, I loved working my way up the rankings.

Re: Armored Core 4 Info Guide.
Glad I could help, anyways as for the new information.

The FRS is for tuning your ac to your liking, like more energy, or to go faster than the boosters will take you.  There's more than that, but the menu to use it is after the stabilizer menu.  The stabilizers menu and the truning menu both have auto or manual.  Auto will automatically do a suggested configuration for you.  The stabilizers just balace the ac, you aim for center (0,0).

As the the raven rating list.  There is technically one in the simulator menu if you press Y.  You don't work up the rank, but there is still a list.  You can also tell which ones are available to fight.

Schematics - no, you don't have to pay for them, you do have to pay for the parts if you want to use them in a mission though.  Note: the yellow names mean that you don't have all the parts, the red names mean you need to unlock more frs or parts.

stabilizers - yeah, it's a little confusing, the easiest thing to do is to tell it auto, unless you want to make you ac look cool.  you can see the stabilizers, but you have to remeber when you add one it can affect the weight, not by much, and the balance of the ac, which I have never seen a difference between a balanced and an unbalanced ac.

Radar - red dot means Mission objective enemy unit
white dot means Secondary enemy unit
            yellow dot means Allied unit
green dot means Player AC position or allied AC
red square means Target to attack
yellow square means Subject to defend

If needed be, destroy it.  I found myself destroying everything I had in sight when I first started playing.  Once I got better at it and started seeing how everything worked, I only went for what was important.  Mainly after I had already beaten the game once, trying to get an S rank.  Oh, there is moonlight sword, it's the strongest one.  I believe you unlock it in Chapter 5 in Jardin De Chavalier, you fight a close combat ac in a closed space.  Either go heavy firepower, or quick with close combat.  As for the devastating energy charge, don't know, didn't even know about it in previous use, unless you mean an energy wave.  Then I'm still not sure, I don't think so though.  All the weapons are more powerful then they used to be though, but you also have more AP.  There are a few weapons that can take out an AC in 1 or 2 hits though, depending on accuracy and the amount of defense the other AC has.  The Kojima Weapons or the Cerberus Blade, not energy blade.

Hoped that helped.

ps. Ring of Death?

Re: Armored Core 4 Info Guide.

Thanks again mate. So the simulator is basically training? Cool, I didnt realise that. And the tuning menu with the FRS stuff, you can increase stats in there such as maximum energy or speed without sacrificing other attributes? is that correct? Ok cool so I can use the schematic as a basic setup but I have to buy the parts. Fair enough. And would you say its a fair comment to just leave the stabilizer alone? as I havent touched it yet.

The moonlight used to let out a wave of energy like an arrow head or arc that shot straight a head. I used to love boosting all over the place, shooting in mid air then landing a slice from the moonlight on my enemies, in the later games such as AC 2 i think they built on the original and there was one sword that let out 3 energy beams instead of one. but anyway, if you havent seen it then you wont understand what i mean. I think in the first game you had to loose by 50,000 credits in debt 4 or 5 times to get the moonlight activated. You could find it but it wouldnt fire the energy until you did the debt bonuses etc. Anyway thanks for the tips again mate, very helpful!!

The FRS doesn't affect other attribues.  As for the stabilizers, I've never seen them affect the AC performance, but you can always just choose the auto option.

Re: Armored Core 4 Info Guide.
Sure.  I assume you mean the missions Aerial Interdiction and Water Gliding.

Chapter 3:
    Aerial Interdiction
Focus on the trasport ships, they're the big helicopters.  Keep a close eye out for them too, because they are not always easy to keep track of.  So keep your eye on the radar to make sure they don't leave the area, or else you have to try an catch them.  AS missiles and rifles should do the trick, oh, pack some grenades for near the end of the mission.  You'll hear about a transport near the end of the mission, it will be on the train tracks to the left from the mission starting  point.  Try to catch it quickly and destroy it so you can continue destroying the helicopter transports.

    Water Gliding
Focus on the subs manily being that they are your only target.  Here's a good path to take.  Equip 2 grenade launchers and maybe some machine guns or rifles for airborn targets.  At the start of the mission, while falling down move over to the left to the other side of the set of buildings next to you.  Dead ahead you find the first sub.  Destroy it from a distance, but keep an eye out for missiles.  About 6 shots should destroy it.  (i'm playing the mission now)  Then go left of the building, all the way to the mission edge.  WATCH OUT FOR CANNON FIRE on your way.  The big ship at the end has huge cannons.  Move quickly, they can destroy buildings.  Before the end, get behind the second to last set of buildings to the right of the mission edge.  Right behind it is another sub.  Jump in and out from behind the building to destroy it.  Wacth out for missiles.  After you destory it, if you look you will see the big ship and further down another sub.  Go to the other side of the map from behind the buildings.  Then do the same thing you just did to the other sub.  Then dodge and head for the big ship, WATCH OUT FOR CANNON FIRE.  The mission shouldn't be too hard from here.  I just got an A rank.

Anything else?

Re: Armored Core 4 Info Guide.
First of all, the weapons changing thing is very simple to fix.  (i hate that too)  System > Control Options > Weapon Auto-Switch (set to off).

What Makes Right:
Use grenades and heavy armor.  The main goal is destroy all the normals at the end.  Just plow through.  Eventually you will find, after going though tunnels up and down a few times, a big drop leading to a big room.  This is the end, where all the normals are at.

Path: forward, up about 3 levels, left, forward, down, forward (watch out for big tank), down (big room)

As for the simulator, just keep practicing.
Good luck

Thanks very much for your tips mate, I managed to sort out that mission, it took some doing. It was hard to come out of the tunnels without getting pulverised by those floating sentries. Anyway unfortunately my 360 has now gone. It was collected today by the courier. I only hope it comes back before my special edition Halo 3 turns up!! And I got Saints Row and have ordered Stranglehold as well but havent had a chance to play either!!! DAMMIT!! Anyway back to Armored Core. Thanks I shall (when I get it back) make sure I turn that off. Its damned frustrating! Hopefully catch you online sometime. Take care
