If you go to Xboxscene.com and click on the shops link tab, you can find a host of shops that sell equipment or parts for repairing your 360, including DVD Drives. The link I posted here lists the drives those guys sell.
I think at this point 360 users are going to have to take to repairing their systems themselves. Microsoft won't send you a new console when you send it in for repairs. You will either get your old system back with a new drive (if you're lucky), or most likely you will get a referbished system that will tank within 6 months.
I've said it in other posts since my DVD Drive failed because of the NXE update along with thousands of others users.
I think it's time to jump ship.
Microsoft isn't about quality that will stand the test of time, they are about the sale and how they can take advantage of you after that. Drives that scratch games and then you have to pay $20 for a replacement, when it was their equipment that scratched it? Shouldn't be the case.
Software their CS Service admits is causing DVD drives to fail, and then they say you have to pay to have it fixed when it was their "update" (what a joke) that broke it? Lame.
MICROSOFT IS A JOKE
They are knowingly shipping faulty consoles to try and stay ahead in the console wars, and the quality is suffering because of it. They are currently being sued for knowingly shipping faulty consoles in 2005.
It would be OK for customers under warranty if Microsoft stood behind their product and did good repairs. But they don't, so your warranty is pretty useless. If you send it in you'll get a refirb or your same faulty console back.
