Jus wonderin how long it took everyone else to beat alma.

it took me a month of tryin, then then stopping to play POP2, then back again.

Are you talking about the first battle? I just beat it yesterday and it took me about 5 days of trying on and off then i just went and sat down and destroyed her. fun game

just beat it on hard by sheer luck and idiocy of the AI after almost a month of trying. Progressing quickly and nicely through the story and chapters now that the very large hump in the road that was Alma has been cleared.

She really is fairly over-rated. 

When she fires the laser ball things at you, just dodge from side to side.

Same thing with the pillars (obviously).

When she dives at you either dodge to the side, OR do a flying swallow and take her down.

Once she's been knocked out of the air and is vulnerable and kneeling on the ground, either use pretty much any level 3 combo with the Dragon Sword, or just simply do the 360 spin attack with the DS. 

The only thing that's a pain with her is when she pulls you up into the air and smacks you back down. 
The first time I got to her 3 years ago, I had no elixirs or anything, and about 3/4 of a health bar.  I absolutely refused to restart the game, so I just had to plug away at her.  Yeah, she sucks.  But her second form is far worse, so I actually enjoy playing against her in the first battle.

I couldn't, and I was the same way. Full health bar, and no Ninpo. I went back to my prior save, before the elevator, and loaded up on items. Then I beat her again. I had forgotten how hard she really is! (original day 1 Ninja Gaiden player)

it took over a year to get a response. but i still haven't beat her. my system rrod. i don't know whether to play gta4 or finally beat ninja gaiden black before part two is released.

Beating NGB is worth the price of admission. I had an original Xbox. After Halo 2, I felt the games were starting to get stale, so Igave it to my little brother. I gave NG to my brother to play. He went bonkers over it, and said he had never played a game the he loved so much, and pissed him off at the same time. He is still playing it today. When the 360 came out, I bought one. I picked up a used copy from GS, and played it to death. Then I lost it in a move. I just picked it up on Live. All in all, I have probably spent close to $125 on this game, between all versions. I do not regret any money i have spent on this game.. This is simply put, one of the best, if not best games I have ever played!

it just took me 2 tries to beat alma on hard mode using the dragon sword ... just a tip, learn to use the flying swallow and move a lot ... this move also works well with ninja gaiden 2

Needed only two approaches on Normal, one time on Hard and as I remember well, 2-3 approaches on Very Hard. Her first form is not so nasty as everybody belives it.
