The Hero Villian Download pack for Marvel Ultimate Aliance has been delayed.

 

The reason for this delay is to fix the problems that have occured with the recent auto update.

The problems include stat changes in gear items as well as unlocked items becoming locked again.

The next release date has not been confirmed at this time.  Right now (4/11/07) they are in the question

and answer stage to find all of the problems.  If you are having problems with the recent update below

I have included steps to send Activision a bug report please be specific when listing problems.

 

Activision official Response in regards to problems with the Auto Update:

 

Activision is indeed aware of the various issues on Marvel Ultimate Alliance in relation to the recently released game update. We are currently researching a solution, and truly appreciate your patience in this matter. For the purpose of acquiring more information regarding this issue, could you please respond with a precise account of what has occurred to your characters, items, and save game since the update?

 

To do this go to Activision.com click on support then ask a question and follow the instructions.

Thanks for the cudo!  A consolidated information thread is an excellent idea.  Hopefully this issue will resolve itself very quickly.  I cannot stress enough to those who have had their items or saves damaged to follow the steps at Activision.com and fill out a tech support request.  The more information that we can provide them, the faster they may be able to create a solution.

Nice one, hopefully this will help people who are still unaware of the problem and also cut down on threads about it.

A Quick Q+A session:
In the interest of reducing the number of threads saying/demanding the same things, I thought best to address a couple of things from the perspective of a huge fan (I waited up god dammit) but also an adult.  It will also reduce the number opf posts I have to respond to sarcastically.

1) We DEMAND/DESERVE compensation!
No you don't, you have lost out on nothing and have not yet paid for the content.  Those who booked time off to play should of known better.  The best you could hope for is an apology which even then you are highly unlikely to get.  Remember, the person posting on this board is not now sat here doing a refresh, he is (hopefully) back on with the task of repairing the patch and getting the DLC available for our use.

2) Its up..  wait no it's not kekekekeke
You are a moron...  we the community are now collectively willing you to pour water down the back of your xbox... do it,  DO IT!!!!

3) But I can see their coloured outlines
Yes, you and everyone else who has installed the recent update, means bugger all, stop holding your breath

4) We want new chars for this!!!!!
Now there IS an idea, lets further extend the development process for some novelty chars that you demand becuase you have being unable to console yourself since the missed release...  or you could stop whining like a 6 year old girl who has had the head pulled off her favourite barbie doll.

5) But WHEN
We don't know.  Activision are as keen as us to get the DLC available (they like money), so just bare with them, look again at the end of the week...  and then try back the end of next week...  if it still aint up...  wait longer.

To be totally honest, I can't play my game cos items keep disappearing.... KEY ITEMS. and I have to restart, costumes get relocked etc etc.

The Heroes Villians pack should now be FREE because of the stress this is causing, I bought the game 5 days ago and I love it but I can't rely on it to keep track of everything so therefor my gaming experience is less than fun.

Compensate us and stop thinking of the mullah

There is no such thing as a key item in this game..  there are some 'fricken sweet' items, and some 'OMG woot' items, but there is nothing that the loss of would result in the game being unplayable, certainly not what you could of obtained in 5 days of playing.

It is THIS mentality that has caused the powers that be to pull the content download for the time being.  The whole "OMG you have ruined my game, you owe me", coax your head from up your backside and relax (i can reccomend a shot Night Nurse..  works wonders).  It's a bloody game (an awesome one).

On a side note, I wonder how many of those reporting messed up Save Games used the cheats...  cos mine  is fine.

if this "question and answer stage" you are referring to is based off of the "QA" the developer said they were doing, its called Quality Assurance, to make sure everything is up to par, not "question and answer".

thats actually pretty cheap compared to a lot of them.  the one I didnt mind paying for were these cats

<~~~ because they were cheap and the Penny Arcade ones because I like to support Gabe and Tycho and it came with a ton when you bought 'em.

But tossing a dollar set of pics towards the fans might would go a lot further than the nothing we would most likely get.

areacode, great job as always!  this would definitely save a lot of time and grief for others looking for the same answer.

Guys, let's please keep the flaming to a minimum please and stick to the topic.  Please post whatever info you think would help Activision to fix whatever problems we might have from the AutoUpdate.  Let's focus on making MUA a good game to play rather than the other 'secondary' issues.

I have informed a Mod about what's going on here, so hopefully he will be joining us soon and help moderated the situation here a little bit.

Excellent post, thank you for consolidating this information. I hope people will resist the temptation to flame or troll in this thread.

I hope Activision realizes that most of the frustration and anger being expressed here is a indication of how passionite we are about this game and excited about the content. Ask the NHL, the only thing worse then anger and frustration when a company or product falls short... is indifference. Looking back, the one thing that clearly could have been handled better - is how this was communicated to customers. I hope this is a lesson learned for them.

Very good point.  So let's give them a bit more time to iron out the kinks and get it working right and fix the problems that we have now. 

Once the DLC comes out and everyone is happy, then I am sure they would consider releasing more DLCs in the near future.  It makes perfect sense to me.

I have to butt in here, we do deserve compensation when our gaming experience is impacted. We paid for the game and therefore we are paying for a quality product. We are not "Beta Testers" and therefore should not have to submit our problems experienced by the new update to Activision. It's a pain that the game doesn't work properly since updating so we should be compensated in the price dropping for the DLC or it given free. I only got the game 5 days ago with no knowledge of the update and I like the game, but am dismayed at the new bugs appearing! If I beta test i should be getting paid cos I have to make the effort to inform them of what they have messed up!
