This could very well be true. The original was pretty choppy at times (anyone continuously hit a Jackal corpse?) But they do mention that despite being tested, it may still possess unseen glitches.
Yes, I always would hit the Jackel corpses and Elites because of that (lol). But that problem was in the original Xbox too. It just kept layering blood ontop of blood until the graphics processor can't take it anymore. It wasn't exactly a "bug" because Bungie didn't expect people to do that (but we did anyway! Thats why you can't really do it in 2 or 3). Its also in the PC version as well if you don't have a very good video card.
>>> WARNING! really long new wall of text<<<Also to people complaining that it doesn't have "online" or "achievements", if they were to do that, it would take so much work to put them in that they might as well make an updated 360 version. And besides, then it wouldn't be a Xbox original anymore, would it? Thats like saying Nintendo is releasing the original release version of Super Mario Bros. (NES version) with 3-D graphics and could use the Wii-mote and had online play. It wouldn't make sense, would it?
But anyhow it if they were to release it on XBL modified, it would cause more problems then it would be worth. First, they would have to host a bunch of new servers for online play meaning they have to spend more money in buying and maintaining them. Then people would complain that they can't system link with people with the original disk release with the original Xbox or the 360 because it would be incompatible. Then there would be so many problems with online with lag and bugginess. Not to mention the already existing group of people that whine about stupid problems such as "[Insert weapon here] is unbalanced! Bungie fix NOW!" or "Bungie needs to fix maps!" or "Bungie, why you no ban cheaters?" and etc. It would just cause more unesscessary stress on Bungie and Microsoft.
Speaking about Microsoft, why does everybody blame Microsoft for all the problems with Xbox originals? Its not like Microsoft can add acheievents or online, just like that. In fact, they have to get permission and licensing priviledges for game the publish onto live. And anyhow, Microsoft isn't responsible for whether or not acheivements are in games. Its the game developers. Halo wasn't made directly by Microsoft, it was published by them. Bungie designed most (if not all) of the game. So they would be the ones responsible. Same with EA and etc.
Then theres people that have no concept on how game programming works. Many have already mentioned this before but I just want to reinforce their points. Its just not as simple as "Make Masterchief walk here and he will say 'Hey!'" They wouldn't need to just rework the game menu's, they would also need to edit the WHOLE GAME ENGINE and levels and network capacities and many other very small, but critical details. And it wouldn't be as simple as putting the PC version on the Xbox. The PC version even my point, it is actually a whole reworking of Halo and everything. And you can't just drop PC versions on game consoles. Its just not that simple.
Then someone else mentioned another good point, "Why did they make a PC version of Halo 2 that has achievements but console gamers are left with none of that?" Thats because they were going to be redoing many things in the game anyway, they might as well put acheivements in and make it that much better. Its not like its revolutionary but did help. And besides, from a features standpoint, the PC versions of Halo have always been better. Halo CE for PC had online play and Custom Editon. Halo 2 had achievements and better graphics (even though it forced you to be on Vista). Halo 3 and Wars we will have yet to see but they will probably be much better than their console counterparts. Heres an another example from another game and has to do with the same concept. Half Life 2 came for the PC roughly the same time Halo 2 did for the Xbox back in 2004. At the time, no one really thought about achievements in games that much. Then Episode-One for Half Life 2 came out in 2006. Still no achievements. But when Episode-Two came out with Portal and TF:2 in "The Orange Box", all of a sudden, Episode-Two came out with acheievents on the PC along with Portal and TF:2. The PC versions of Half-Life 2 and Episode 1 still have no achievements. Why? Well, first of all, when they were designing Episode-Two, they were making the 360, PS3 and PC versions all at the same time. They might as well put in achievements for Episode 2 if they are going to be porting it to the consoles anyway. However, the PC versions of Half Life 2 and Episode 1 still don't have achievements. Why? (again) VALVe didn't think it would be cost effective to rework the PC versions that were already finished and fine just the way they were. Which may explain why the PC version of the Orange Box is cheaper than the 360 version (However that is just a hypothesis so no guarantees on how true the last statement was but could contribute to it.) Thats exactly what Bungie is doing except in this case its backwards.
>>>End really long new topic<<<Hopefully, that might clear up some things for some of you. But anyhow thats just what I think and sorry if I'm a confusing writer or have bad typos. I'm just tired of all the mindless flaming.
