This is a sick tormented joke... Right...?

Here I was thinking I'd download another one of these easy Retro games for a few more achievements... Boy was I wrong. Instead we have something sooo nuts that it rivals that of Robotron and Joust.

The frikken game is bad enough with these rediculously high scores you need to beat... And don't even get me started on destroying all the mushrooms! How in the name of Carlo Johanson's mothers, sisters, sons, uncles cousin do you do this nonsense! It's crazy!

Oh, and please try Throttle Monkey mode, because words can't even define it's insanity.

Centipede/Millipede - R.I.P (Lifetime, 10 minutes, 10 gamerscore/ 1 achievement)

For the record, I'm not so much complaining as I am ranting. I'll probably be over it by the end of the week, but I doubt I'll sleep safely tonight... Sad [:(]

Exactly, I couldn't agree more. Which is what I kind of tried to imply by saying how I'm not complaining. But my experience with this game just required a small rant. Wink [;)]

Yeah, that's why they're sold together at $5 for the pair.  As opposed to, say, Pac-man and Ms. Pac-man.

Anyway, Millipede has a few new enemies, DDT bombs, and some other subtle differences.

Hey, anyone could make that mistake.  That's how I got Joust.

You should have seen me accidentally enter the points card code when my first attempt to exit failed due to insufficient funds.  Tongue Tied [:S]

The best version of milipede I ever played was a mock up called Megapede by Cheesy Software. Should search that up and download, it's free too :)

Don't know if it works on modern PCs though, I'm going back 10 years here lol

I found it easiest to keep the centipede in one piece.  Also, stay near the top of your movable area whenever possible; it will make your shots take less time to reach their destination, and thus will speed up the process considerably.

Well... First of all, I kind of manipulated the starting of the game to have a higher percentage of the mushrooms at the BOTTOM of the screen so I could easily destroy them. Then I just waited for gaps as the caterpillar went by and shot at the top.

You can not shoot the caterpillar and you must immediately dispose of the spiders. I used all my lives getting rid of the mushrooms because it's pretty dam hard to not die when the caterpillar gets to the bottom of the screen and starts randomly sending pieces of itself in all directions... By the time I had no lives I managed to destroy them all by repeating the process. Be precise and accurate as well, don't waste your shots.

Although, know that I don't necessarily know what I'm talking about as I'm not very good at this game Stick out tongue [:P]. Maybe there was a lot of luck involved for this one because as far as score goes, I can't get higher than 25000!

Retro Games is a nice title.  I grew up playing games like Centipede for me it would be Nostalgia gaming.  As much as we try for it not to be amongst my group of gaming friends it really is all about that number connected to our gamer tag.  I read somewhere a great thought (or sad depending on your perspective) it basically said you obit would contain your Gamerscore to see and the higher the score the more time we wasted in our lives.

The rant was great at the beginning of the post.

I still own a lot of these retro Atari games for the 2600. its good to see how much better the ported original versions are compared to the 2600. plus the achievement points....I wouldnt want to waste my life on anything else but achievement points. lol

That's a great idea.  I should've tried that; it might've taken less time to get it.
