An Idiots Guide to Transfer Files

Alpha6006 03-31-2006, 11:07 PM

Hey peeps,  I just have succesfully transfered a single file from my pc to my Xbox here is my current set up

PC----------ASDL ROUTER/HUB-------------XBOX

                          |

                         Internet

I know that it stats that you must change settings but all you really need to do is the first part about file sharing through your original connection.  Then you must download the correct software for the pc and then you must convert the file,  by following the on screen prompts,  then after that its should say that you should now use the connection on the xbox thats when you transfer the files.  trustr me its simplier then i thought

Yes,  Mainly music files,  You can only transfer mp3 and wmf format.  You can trasnfere Jpeg (picture) files also Xbox karaoke songs (www.xboxkaraoke.com) You cannot how ever transfer files of a different kind EG soft modding your xbox!  The program will not allow you too,

I've found out another thing,  when you have copied them across (I use mp3 fles personally) you would think that you can only use music mixer to listen to your music......WRONG,  there is a selection where they can be recopied on the Xbox Hard drive to be configured to the point where you can use them for the custom soundtracks in games.  Pretty cool huh,  how you do it you from the main menu is

Music Player---------Create/edit---------

You should now have alist of your soundtracks and you might notice the files you have transfered have "PC: " next to the artist name,  thats because its transfered as unreadable file by other games.  well anyway you then must hit "GAMES" at the bottem right hand corner of the screen,  you should get a window saying

"Xbox music mixer needs to prepare this imported soundtrack for use with Xbox games.  It could take several minutes,  depending on the size of the soundtrack.  Press A to prepare soundtrack for games now or press B to cancel"

I would suggest personally is to copy all your music over and leave that preparing option running over night,  so when you get up in the morning (or afternoon in some of your cases)  you will have your fresh tracks readt to play with your xbox games great huh??

Any way to transfer those karaoke recordings to anothe Xbox or PC?  My current Xbox has issues & rather than paying $80 for repair & risk losing what's on the hard drive, I'd like to use another Xbox.  I can move game saves using a memory card, but not music.  I can't even find the karaoke recordings on my hard drive, just through music mixerSad [:(]
Now put THAT in your pipe and smoke it!

I have an XBox 360 as does 2 of my cousins.  We want to play through a franchise on Madden, but can't figure out how to transfer the files electronically, we don't want to have to go buy a memory card and drive it back and forth like we used to on PS2.

Is there a way through XBox Live, or through our PCs, to transfer saved game files straight from one XBox 360 to another?

Thanks for your help.

why you people just listen to the mp3s on your pc threw your xbox it is way easier you have your entire collection to choose from.  I think if your MP3s are tagged correctly then they will show up when you share your music library with Windows Media Player Settings on the PC.   It really is the easiest fastest hassle free way of listening to tunes on your box. You can even listen to them while on live playing games its one of the most coolest features the xbox dashboard HAS in my opinion.
