Aegis Wing FAQ and Guide By Attacksloth32
Aegis Wing FAQ + Guide
By Attacksloth32

How many players can play on the same console?
Up to 4 players can play, as long as you have enough controllers.

How many players can you have online in one lobby?
You can have parties of 4 in one lobby. You can have up to 3 guest profiles, or another gold subscription.

Is this game free for silver members?
Yes it is. Keep in mind you will not have access to online features with a silver account though (co-op), and some of the achievements will be unachievable until you get Xbox Live Gold.

How come I can’t start the game?
You are either not the host, or everybody is not readied up yet. Ask them to ready up (A button).

How do I kick players?
Press X and select a gamer.

What are the controls?
Pretty simple. You can pilot your ship using the left analog stick, fire your weapon using the right trigger or the A button, and when you pick up a power-up, you can fire it with the B button. You can also group together with a team mate using the X button. Up to 4 players can be attached at one time.

What are the power-ups, and how do I use them effectively?
There are many power-ups in this game, and you have to learn how to use them effectively to clear missions:

Laser: This power-up looks like a giant blue tin can. When you use it by pressing B, it will shoot a direct line laser that will eliminate anything in its path. When you are attached to someone, the laser will be bigger when you shoot, and have more range so if you wanted to use it with the maximum effect, then group up with someone (X button). These are also a boss’s worst nightmare, save them if you can.

Small Homing Rounds: This will look sort of like a red “missile”. Press B, and it will shoot multiple homing shots that will hit anything in the screen at that time until that blast runs out of rounds. It is best used when there are large groups of enemies all around the area, and they are also effective against bosses. If there aren’t enough enemies around, some of the shots will stray off and hit nothing, so be conservative and plan your shots.

Electromagnetic “Pulse”: These are useful. When you get one, activate it and it will clear away any enemy shot in the blast radius (usually about a quarter of the screen). It will also stun nearby enemies and cause them to spin, providing you with an easy target. They are also useful around bosses as they will clear a lot of shots coming your way. They are also effective against the giant purple laser ships you encounter.

Bubble Shield: This power-up looks like a medallion with a C written on it. When you pick one up and activate it, it will provide you with a temporary shield that will protect you from most enemy shots. It will not however protect you from running into an enemy. The shield gets larger the more people you are attached to. It is recommended that you save your shields for heavy enemy-infested areas, or bosses.

Re-spawn Friendly: This power-up looks like a tumbling friendly ship, and can be used to revive a dead enemy on contact. All you have to do it run into the power-up. These should be used ASAP since they disappear off the screen pretty quickly.

What are the enemies in Aegis Wing?
There are a lot of enemies in Aegis wing, each with their own attacks strengths and weaknesses:

Red starships: These look similar to your ship, but they shoot one bullet at a time, and travel in a straight line a lot of the time. You can go at these with pretty much anything, as they are weak.

Blue starships: These are the same as the red ones, but they shoot in 3 shot intervals. Use the same tactic here, but move out of the way if too many approach you.

Black snakes: These look like.. well.. black snakes. If they get behind you, they speed up, and come after you again, so if you see a group of them, you’re best to get rid of the threat quickly. They do not shoot anything at you though, and are one-shot kills.

Blue snakes: Exactly the same as the black ones, but slightly stronger and faster. Use the same tactic to defeat them though.

Yellow Large ships: These are strong ships about 3x the size of your ship. To defeat one effectively, it is recommended that you shoot flank it. In other words, shoot at it from a different direction than where it is shooting you from. You may also want to team up (X button), if you are playing co-op mode.

Purple Laser “Mother-ships”: These can be a huge pain to destroy. When trying to kill one, wait until just after it shoots its powerful laser, and then pound it with all of your might. If you cannot get to it right away (position too filled with enemies or obstacles), you are better off just leaving it, as it will go off of the screen eventually. A great power-up is a great way to take one of them out. The best tool is the giant laser power-up, but if you don’t have one ready, then use another one such as the electromagnetic pulse one.

Green Mother-ships: These are slow moving, but have incredibly high armor. You are better off chipping away at it rather than trying to kill one in one blow. Swoop at it, and go up or down, lather, rinse and repeat until it blows up. It is also very big, making it a perfect target for your giant laser.

Red space debris: This is not really an enemy with attacks, it is just more of a nuisance. You can clear these out of the way with a laser. Try to avoid them, unless you like dying..

What are the bosses like in this game (strategies)?
The bosses in this game are kind of crazy, but all of them have the same concept behind them when beating them.

When they turn red, shoot, when they are white they are protected. When facing them, you might want some power-ups such as the giant laser, and if you are playing co-op, don’t go in packs of more than 2. Because the shots coming out of these bosses are thick, and there are a lot of them. Also, if a boss is defeated, don’t put down your controller, because that does not always mean it’s the end of the level. You will be surprised.

What are good ways to avoid death?
To start, you have to master the weaving in and out this game requires you to do. It is easy once you practice.

For beginners, keep practicing on the first level, until you have mastered it, and then keep playing through. There is sometimes a constant stream of bullets, but look before you go forward because there is always at least one opening.

If you are playing co-op, this game is a lot easier to do, so find a nice group of friends to play with (4 being the maximum), and then play through. I recommend that you play through on normal if you are just starting out (first time player). Then once you get accustomed with the game, move to insane. Insane isn’t too much harder, if you do it on co-op.

Various formations and when to use them (Co-Op only):

1 and 1 and 1 and 1: Typical starting formation. Use it when there is just an average amount of enemies. If you are in another formation, you can split up by pressing X. Splitting up into this formation is good for those tight squeezes.

2 and 2: This is good if you have a lot of enemies not in the middle, but on the top and bottom of the screen. This way you can split up the job.

3 and 1: This formation is great for having some brute firepower, and backup in case someone in the 3 formation dies.

4 together: This formation will cause you to move the slowest, but it will grant you the most firepower. Only use it if there is a group of enemies concentrated in one part of the screen, because this formation can be very hard to maneuver.

^^The more people you have stuck together, the slower you will move.^^

How many levels will I have to complete to finish the campaign?
There are 5 of them, but more than 5 bosses (trying not to give it away) lol.

How do I pick a level for playing, instead of playing through the whole campaign?
You must beat the campaign to unlock the "pick a mission" feature. Then you can go back and play any level you want.
