Mad Tracks FAQ

Mad Tracks FAQ by Coldfire727

History of Game

Mad Tracks is about a year and three months old. It is sort of a toy car racing game developed by Load Inc. for the PC and was released February 27th, 2006. On May 30th, 2007, it was finally released as an Xbox Live Arcade Game.

Controls

Once cool thing about Mad Tracks is how it is different than most racing games. On the screen there is an icon of a spring and as you press on the accelerator it looks as though it is winding down. AS it gets to the bottom you will start to slow down. So one point of the race is to keep a close eye on that icon and lay off the accelerator every once in awhile to let the bar recharge back up. An example would be is when you are approaching a jump, you floor the car to make it go faster and that will deplete your spring meter. But as you hit the jump you stop accelerating to let the bar recharge while you are in mid-air. Then when you land you are ready to start accelerating again. Driving in reverse also super winds the car which makes sense as that is what you do to some toy cars to make them drive. You use the left analog stick to turn and the buttons to accelerate and brake are on the triggers. You can also change the view by pressing right bumper.

Weapons

There are twelve weapons and powerups that you can use to win. They range from oil slicks to rocket launchers to the powerup to recharge your spring meter. X and B will cycle through your items and you can hit the A button to use them. There are no time limits for the weapons so you can use them whenever you want in the race. You can also be carried together such as you can carry four rockets at a time.

Cars and Levels

There are a variety of cars to choose from each having special attributes. Such as heavy cars will have fast speed and low acceleration while light cars have great acceleration and a lower speed.

The levels in this game are really cool. They are racetracks that take place in interior areas that are really fun to play on. For instance there are levels that take place on a roof, a cafe, and a house.

Single-player

The single-player of Mad Tracks begins with two events unlocked. You have to choose what paths to take. They all eventually lead to the same place. While you progress through the campaign you then unlock tracks and events. The original campaign involves 15 events that are a real blast to run through.

Multi-player

The multi-player which was added to the game on a last-minute decision and is four-player racing on Xbox Live and has four-player split-screen too. It has ranked and player matches with the ability to create your own matches and play whatever you like. Everything that you do offline are also supported in Mad Tracks multi-player. Ther are even leaderboards with TruSkill rankings and has a tab for weekly leaders like how Gears of War tracks your kills weekly. The weekly tab, obviously, is reset every week.

Mini-games

There are many mini-games in Mad Tracks in addition to the racing. There are mini-games like mini-golf, bowling, and even darts.

Yes there will. The content downloads will be named "Encore" and "Bravo" and will cost about 350 Microsoft points (4.50$) but that is as high as they will get. There are no release dates known yet but they will probably be here in a few months as the full version of the game is out for the PC. My Opinion

Some might disagree with me but I think Mad Tracks is one of the best arcade games out there to date. 10$ is a perfect price for this game and it has so much cool stuff in it. Although I don't own it yet, I will. The deomo was really cool and I would suggest downloading it and give the game a try. Plus with all the new content coming out soon. There will be a lot more cool stuff in Mad Tracks soon as if it isn't already a great deal. So if you have 10 bucks. Pick this game up since it is really addicting and fun to play. The spring meter adds something cool into the game since you actually have to pace yourself without holding down the acceleration all the time.
