Hold off until the new fibre optic network becomes available to Whangarei residents, there should be some new plans from Telstraclear offering this soon as they are in partnership with Northpower who established th FO network.

I live in Whangarei, and when i had a gold account i found that it did just fine, ok there was the odd lag and its not as super as some parts of the country but i still found no probs with online halo3. but yes im antispating the new fiber though Whangarei, it would be nice to pay for a connection im happy with and that is not to slow down because of mass traffic at given times of the day, how ever you have to understand that about 80% of New Zealand is copper wire, so you can lay all the fiber optic you want but if i links to a copper line then you will still only have that as the speed you fiber is at.

P.S.  i may not have gold account now but as soon as i can im, well as soon as my credit card looks a bit more happyer.
