PAC-MAN Championship Edition™

New Full Achievement Guide for Pac-Man Championship Edition

Xyjar 06-06-2007, 9:57 PM
First of all, I have to say this is a fun game. Way better than the classic retro rehash Pac-Man. While $5 would have been a much more sensible price, I don't regret buying this game. Anyway, I just finished my achievement guide for anyone having trouble with the game.

Hope it helps: http://xbla.nintexbox.com/games/pacmance/pacman_ce_ag.txt

Welcome to my achievement guide for Pac-Man Championship Edition. Please inform
me if you find any typos or inaccuracies within this guide. Here is a summary
of the format I'm using here:

[ ] #. Achievement Name [Gamerscore]
check Achievement Description
box
Achievement obtaining tip

______________________________________

[ ] 1. 200,000 Points [10]
Awarded for playing the game a total of 10 hours.

There are a few different approaches to earning points in this game.
I personally found Extra Mode 2 and 3 to be the easiest for points.
You can either concentrate on getting big ghost killing sprees or just
try to clear the board. You get more points for each consecutive ghost
you kill from 400 up to 3200. Once you've collected a lot of items,
they also become worth a lot of points (>5000 each). 200,000 isn't too
hard of a target so I'd recommend taking it slow and trying to get
some good ghost points in early.

[ ] 2. 400,000 Points [30]
Awarded for completion of Andy the Angel Fish levels.

For 400,000, you'll need to get pretty far, again preferrably in Extra
Mode 2 or 3. Don't waste time trying to bait ghosts for points, just
keep trying to clear the pellets and collect the items. If you make it
up to the higher items, it will only take about four items to get an
extra life, so it's almost impossible to die once you're at that point.
The trick is getting there. You will mainly need to get comfortable
with the ghost patterns so you can avoid them while collecting pellets,
and once you get high enough, the board shrinks and becomes incredibly
easy with tons of high-point items. Don't ignore the point value of
regular pellets, either. They can make up around 20-30% of your total
score at the end depending on how you play. The more you eat without
dying, the higher point value you get for each one.

[ ] 3. Sparkster [5]
Emit sparks for 1 second!

This is explained in the in-game Help & Options Menu: "Press the D-pad
in the direction that you want to turn, before the corner. Pac-Man will
emit sparks. Pac-Man will turn the corner faster than usual. Using this
technique, Pac-Man will turn corners faster, creating more space
between Pac-Man and the ghosts."

The fastest way to get this is to go to one of the transport tunnel
things on the sides of the maze and hold up or down. You'll easily get
a full second of sparks and get the achievement.

[ ] 4. 8 Ghosts [5]
Eat 8 ghosts in succession!

This is the easiest achievement in the game, easier than it sounds.
Unlike previous Pac-Mans, getting a Power Pellet while the ghosts are
all inside the cage in the middle forces them to all come out, where
you can get them all very easily. Now before the Power Pellet sound
runs out, get another Power Pellet and do it again. You could even
get eight ghosts between three or four Power Pellets if you want, since
there are plenty on the screen at many points in the game. Just make
sure you wait to get them until the eyeballs return to the center,
so that they become vulnerable again when you get it.

[ ] 5. Championship Mode [20]
Complete Championship Mode!

Pretty simple, just use my advice above to make it though this mode.
In all modes, you simply have to stay alive until the timer runs out to
get the achievement. Points/items do not matter, so you may find it
easier to just sit by Power Pellets until ghosts come by, then eat them
for protection. Then just wait it out without eating the ghosts to kill
the timer. Or just try your hardest to get through the game and keep
getting enough points to stock up the extra lives. Every 20,000 points
will earn you an extra life. Also, the game speeds up as you get more
points, so watch out for that.

[ ] 6. Challenge Mode 1 [20]
Complete Challenge Mode 1!

Similar to Championship Mode. Just survive the ten minutes using the
tips above. Also, this mode doesn't seem to speed up as your points
increase.

[ ] 7. Challenge Mode 2 [20]
Complete Challenge Mode 2!

This one is a little bit more difficult because you'll have to navigate
the maze without "light." As in, you can only see the pellets and the
walls within one inch of you and all the ghosts. Survive ten minutes
using the tips above.

[ ] 8. Extra Mode 1 [20]
Complete Extra Mode 1!

Survive five minutes using the tips above.

[ ] 9. Extra Mode 2 [20]
Complete Extra Mode 2!

Survive ten minutes using the tips above.

[ ] 10. Extra Mode 3 [20]
Complete Extra Mode 3!

Survive ten minutes using the tips above.

[ ] 11. Key [10]
Eat the Key!

I noted the items I found while playing and made a list. Feel free to
send me a message over Xbox Live to clarify what the heck some of these
items really are.

1- Cherry
2- Strawberry
3- Peach?
4- Apple
5- Green Melon Thing?
6- Banana
7- Raddish?
8- Some Galaxian Thing?
9- Bell
10- Key
11- Teacup
12- Cake Slice
13- Other Galaxian Thing?
14- Another Galaxian Spaceship Thing?
15- Insect Thing?
16- Coffee Cup? Hamburger?
17- Egg
18- Candy
19- Four-Leaf Clover
20- Diamond
21- Heart
22- Wacko looking thing that looks like raspberries topped with honey.
23- Crown

[ ] 12. Crown [20]
Eat the Crown!

The last item you can obtain is the Crown. Eat it once and you'll get
the achievement after the game ends. In case you haven't figured out
the pattern in the game, each item you pick up generates a new trail of
pellets on the other side of the maze. Eating all the pellets generates
a new item on the other side of the maze, repeat forever. Half way
through the items list, the items start coming in pairs, so it will
probably take you thirty-something items before you get the Crown.

[ ] Total Achievements: 12
Total Gamerscore: 200

Nice guide, Xyjar. I'll have to read through this if I get stuck. I should be getting it soon. You should probably change the font, though. Wink [;)]

I just copy+pasted it from my guide and it went like that automatically. I'd edit it but these forums are retarded and don't allow me to edit my posts. You can just use the link to the .txt file to see it better though.

Aye, and the 200,000 points one is the 10 hour FF achievement. :) Otherwise, good work.

Sorry, used the template from my Feeding Frenzy guide, haha. Again, if I could edit my post I would. I fixed my linked version though.

It's all good. The info on how to get the achievements is still solid. Thanks for posting it.

Just from personal experience: The easiest level to get the Key, Crown, and 400,000 point achievements on is Extra Level 3. The maps are relatively small (i.e., less dots to eat most of the time) and so you can quickly clear them and eat the prizes. Once you hit the crowns, that's all you get from that point out... so if you are fast, you can go from 300,000 to 400,000 within a single minute.

Lazy. Why don't you copy the text, paste it into Notepad or Word or something, and print it out yourself?

I don't think he's being lazy at all.  No reason to call anyone names over something like that.  It's a reasonable request IMO. shrug

Someone who has enough time to get the Seriously achievement in GoW (which I know he has done because of his gamerpic) and rack up 10,000 kills in ranked online play who can't take 20 seconds to copy the text and paste it into the application of his choice is lazy.

IMO.

52000+ Gamer points

Not a good sign of the type of life you live.

Unless you are a pro gamer.

Which I would then think is sweet lol.
