Splinter Cell on Xbox 360...Hiccuping?

I went out and got Splinter Cell the other day (from the Tom Clancy's Classic Trilogy pack), and am playing it on my 360 (don't have an original xbox).  I've noticed as I'm going through the game, every so often the gameplay freezes for a second but then keeps going.  it doesn't actually affect anything in the game, it's just a bit annoying.

Just wondering if anyone else playing Splinter Cell on their 360 gets this as well.

I can't get SC Chaos Theory to even load.  SC is working fine.  I hope they re release the update and fix it.

My Chaos Theory doesn't hiccup, it does the video game equivalent of vomiting.

The live update made my game completely freeze at loading.  I had to erase the whole profile of the game and start all over.  I'm only going to play the solo game until I hear that this issue has been fixed.

Re: Splinter Cell on Xbox 360...Hiccuping?

Yep, it's the emulator causing the problems.

SC1: Stutters during the game. I even had it cause me to get toasted at the end of Abbatoir mission, but just reloaded and finished with no problems.  Just glad it didn't glitch in the mine field!

SCPT:  No problems at all, I think they must have designed the emulator using this game and didn't test the other two.

SCCT:  As long as you don't connect to XBLive you can play the Solo missions and (with two controllers) Co-Op.  Once you connect to Live you'll get an update that cripples the Solo mode, but allows you to download the two newer Co-Op maps to play.  Load Versus mode - update and no more Solo or Coop!  Really stinks, because the only fix to go back is to delete ALL SC related content from the HD and start all over again which means that you lose all your saves and stats.

Please Mr. Emulator team, fix this problem!

What I've discovered is that you can play Co-op on 360 to 360 with little problems (as long as the host has good connection speed) but you can't play with the Xbox.  Versus works fine cross console though.

The two "programs" are coded differently, by a different group is why. No fix on the horizon...

In SC:PT, when I try to play online on X360, the game starts downloading an update from Xbox Live and then just crashes... Is this problem due to the "emulator"? Maybe it's not the final version... Please help

It's not the emulator. There were quite a few posts about that problem, can't remember where, but several gamers said they just tried different ways of loading the game and eventually got the update.  If all else fails, delete all of your SCPT stuff from the hard drive on the 360 - power down and restart then try to get the update before you play anything, just go directly there to get the update. BTW, it seems to help if you always power cycle the 360 after each "update" and before you try to use it.

Having just bought the original Splinter Cell to play on my Xbox 360, I loaded it up and tried the download section.  Every time I try to download the update I'm told that Xbox Live is not responding, even though I never had any problems updating other games like Ghost Recon 2.  Anyone else had this?

Yes mine does the same but only at load up, when i am playing the game it is fine. When i first turn on the game it pauses and kind of freezes up but once that is all done it seems to work fine. What i was thinking is that possibly games that are quite advanced just do that, cause all my other game seem to do fine. What do you think?

Re: Splinter Cell on Xbox 360...Hiccuping?

If you watch closely you'll often see that it happens in the cutscenes where the audio gets out of synch with the video.  Probably has to do with the more powerful graphics engine on the 360 getting ahead of the audio track. Not much of a problem unless it happens in-game, which it did once to me in Abbatoir but never re-occurred.

I just bought SC yesterday. I ran the Live updater and played for 3 hours or so before the 360 started "hiccupping" - now it will fully freeze. You're not alone.

Re: Splinter Cell on Xbox 360...Hiccuping?

WAIT! I have a Xbox 360 and I put in SC: CT and I load up Versus mode which works fine.

Then I go to  Coop and it doesn't let me download the update. !!!

You say that you "delete ALL SC related content from the HD" ...  Does this include my Splinter Cell Double Agent Demo?

Also, when I delete all the files and then I try again, it doesn't work and when I check back to my HD it magically has "SC:CT vs" under content and it says "game content" when I click it... WHY?

Re: Splinter Cell on Xbox 360...Hiccuping?

Here's the basic procedure.

1. Delete all Splinter Cell Chaos Theory data/profiles/etc from the 360's HDD.

2. Insert the SCCT disc and let the system load an update. Power the unit off, then back on. (Power cycle)

3. Load SCCT, go to the versus menu and let it update. Power off/on again.

4. Load SCCT, go to the Co-op menu and let it update. Power cycle.

5. Load SCCT, go to Versus menu, Live and download the new levels. Power cycle.

6. Load SCCT, go to Co-op menu, Live and d/l the new levels. Power cycle.

7. Load SCCT and you should now be able to play all modes of the game.  Just remember that CT's Coop mode will only work with 'same console' versions (360 w/360, Xbox1 w/Xbox1).

Never worked for me, always messes up when I try to update from co-op. Keeps giving the "Xbox Live is not responding" error.

As long as you've got the latest backward compatibility update you should be fine.  That'll happen automatically when you start the game if you don't have it already.

Yea, after a few updates Chaos Theory has been playing just fine on my x360. Its amazing after 3+ yrs this is still the best stealth/shooter/strategy games. Even the graphics are still very decent by today's HD standard.

Must've been fixed, I'm playing the same version of Splinter Cell (From Tom Clancy's Classic Trilogy, the Platinum Hits version) and have found no problems except today when I was playing the Presidential Palace and when you climb up the first pipe after the first checkpoint sometimes part of the ground is black but it quickly turns back to normal.
