Gauntlet® Achievement Guide

Gauntlet® Achievement Guide by I Andy I

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I have created this achievement guide to help people understand how to unlock the achievements on Gauntlet. Some of the achievements aren’t very well worded and are causing a lot of problems.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Here is the Guide for each achievement -

**Important Note** Changing the settings in the main menu will disable achievement unlocking. So remember to change the settings to default before trying to unlock achievements. You can do this by pressing X in the Game Options, and settings screen, which resets the settings to Default.

(You probably won’t have changed the settings anyway, just make sure they’re set to Default.)

**Helpful Tip** There is something in this game which makes things much easier to complete levels, called the EXIT WALL GLITCH. It’s not so much of a glitch but certainly helps.

Stand around not pressing anything on your controller, and after over 3 minutes of waiting, all the walls turn into exits making level completing much easier. If you were doing something else, you could come back to your Xbox every 5 minutes just to restart the next level.

Xbox Live achievements*

*Xbox Live achievements means that you can only get these achievements by playing on Xbox Live CO-OP, and not by playing the Offline Single-Player Arcade mode.

1. Max CO-OP

Play Xbox Live with 4 players - 10 points

This achievement is very easy to obtain. All you’ve got to do is join or host an Xbox Live Game. Wait until a few more players to join and you’ve gained an easy 10Gamerscore. You could play with 3 other people on your friends list, which would probably be a lot easier to set up, and might also have a better connection between the 4 of you.

2. Bling

Collect 10 treasure chests on Xbox Live using default settings - 15 points

This achievement is also very easy. If you can play a co-op game over Xbox Live and get to a bonus treasure level, this achievement is extremely easy. If you’re playing for this achievement only, ask your other co-op players if they can let you get all the treasure chests available. You’ll get this in no time.3. CO-OP

Finish level 10 on Xbox Live with another player using default settings - 15 points

This achievement is easy. Hook up with 3 friends or Gauntlet players over Xbox Live. You can get to level 8 within a minute or so.

Get to level 8 very quickly -

In the first level, get the key at the bottom of the first section, and then use that to get through to the next section on the right hand side. Destroy the few piles of bones that are spawning the ghosts and ghouls and then use the key in that area to unlock the next section up above. Watch out for the large amounts of ghosts that flood out after unlocking that section. Once you’ve done this you can jump straight to the level 8 exit at the top right of the screen.

After doing this you’ll only have to complete 2 levels between you to get the achievement.

4. CO-OP Master

Finish level 20 on Xbox Live with another player using default settings - 40 points

This is one of the harder achievements on Gauntlet. After jumping to level 8, you’ll have to complete 12 levels co-operatively. The best thing I can advise is to get together 3 dedicated friends who also want/need this achievement. Also you could ask a PRO at Gauntlet to help you and a couple of friends out to get the achievement.

5. High Score

Acquire an Xbox Live CO-OP score of 100,000 using default settings - 15 points

This achievement is fairly easy. Get together 3 other Gauntlet players and work your way through the levels, it’s a cumulative total, so it’s not 100,000 score each, it’s between all 4 of you.

Another good method to do this would be to stand in a safe position and defeat as many enemies as possible without destroying their spawn point. There is a very good spot in Level 4. There is 2 treasure chests just a little bit into the level. If you grab one treasure chest on the right and then move back one or two steps, Lots and lots of Ghosts will spawn from 3 different spawn piles. You can bleed them out into you have 100,000 points.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Offline Achievements**

**Offline achievements just means that you can get these achievements offline without Xbox Live, although some of these achievements below, you can still obtain through online Xbox Live CO-OP Play as well as Offline play.

6. Valkyrie Master

Get 1st place on in game score board with the Valkyrie using default settings - 5 points

The wording on these 4 achievements is not very clear and confuses a lot of people. To get these four achievements with every character you must use the following method -

Select the Single-Player Arcade mode, and when the small 5 second tutorial comes up choose your character you want to get the achievement with.

To choose your character -

  • Press B for the Warrior/Dwarf
  • Press X for Valkyrie
  • Press Y for the Wizard
  • The Elf is already selected as the default character

To actually get the achievement you have to get a score of 8000 with each character for each Master Achievement. Although you cannot use the Y Button which boosts your health. You have to get these achievements by using the starting default health. A good way to score 8000 without losing too much health is to stay in a safe spot and spawn enemies. A successful method I used is above under the High Score achievement. Once you’ve worked out a successful way to gain 8000 score, do this for every character and you should have all 4 achievements within 20 minutes of play.

**Important**

If you are scoring 8000 with each characters without using the Y button, but not getting any achievement, then use the following method below provided by www.Xbox360achievements.org.

  • Start up Gauntlet with your profile you use.
  • Then either return to the Xbox Live Arcade, or just go straight to the dashboard.
  • Then hit the X Button to sign out of your profile.
  • Once signed out start up Gauntlet.
  • It’ll ask you select a profile. Just choose any one, it doesn’t matter.
  • Then put in a second controller, and sign into your primary profile (The one you actually use) with this second controller.
  • Use this controller, and select the Arcade mode.
  • Get the Master achievements that way for all of them.

7. Wizard Master

Get 1st place on in game score board with the Wizard using default settings - 5 points

Use the same method as Valkyrie Method above.

8. Warrior Master

Get 1st place on in game score board with the Warrior using default settings - 5 points

Use the same method as Valkyrie Method above.

9. Elf Master

Get 1st place on in game score board with the Elf using default settings - 5 points

Use the same method as Valkyrie Method above.

10. Treasure

During a treasure level, successfully collect 11 treasures and exit - 15 points

Treasure levels come up on the Single-Player every few levels. The best thing to do is not stop. Luckily you might find an exit. Try and collect the treasures around that Exit, don’t go too far away from that area, and leave yourself enough time to get back to that Exit. Remember you must Exit to obtain the achievement.

11. Anti-Thief

Successfully kill a thief - 10 points

The first thief appears in level 7. Use the B to kill the thief easily and you will unlock the achievement right away in-game. Not a very hard achievement anyway.

12. Game Master

Finish level 100 using default settings - 60 points

This is by far the hardest and most boring achievement on Gauntlet.

Use the following techniques and methods to make this achievement easier

  • Jump to level 8 to skip a few levels at the start.
  • Use the Y Button to boost your health. A good way is to boost your health to 90,000 odd. Then you can relax and won’t have to worry about health. You cannot get this achievement without using the Y Button.
  • If you are getting extremely bored, you could use the EXIT WALL GLITCH which is explained above, at the top of the guide. If you are doing something else, you could come back to your Xbox 360 every 5 minutes to exit the level and then wait another 5 minutes.
  • Remember to use the potions which clear the board fully for a few seconds.
  • If you have other controllers, use them to help you complete the levels with other characters.

This achievement is by far the longest to complete, but 60 Gamerscore from 200 Xbox Live Arcade Game is a respectable reward.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I hope this cleared up some confusion and helped people out how to earn the achievements.
