EJ – grats on your wife and the big C victory! (OT: there are two words that jump into my bamaged drain when I hear the C word and compromise aint one of them) I went through the same thing back in 2000, so holler if you have any questions. Hopefully you guys only have to do I-131 treatment and not chemo, because that just plain stinks. There have been some amazing advances in synthroid stability and long term treatment as well as inhibition. Take my advice and whatever she is doing physically and mentally – increase it. The synthroid just does not replace raw metabolism and you need to stay very physically active otherwise you’ll feel tired. It also helps to stay interested – in everything!
Enf – right on the money as usual. I’ve never been a fan of tiptoeing around the issue and prefer to bring a sledgehammer to the matter at hand. When the wife and I have these kinds of arguments we do the same. We’re both very independent and need some alone time. Learning to notify the other about what we want took time, especially in dealing with da kid.
Avacotter – Congrats!
JD, Nien – I read several of the comments regarding MW2 and the scene in question. I have not seen the vid yet. I’m torn on games like this – I am very anti-censorship and prefer to have the parents occupy that role. I’m definitely in the minority in that I believe war should be portrayed realistically for the hell it is. In this case it sounds like an Eli Roth in the picture, trying to use over the top violence as a vehicle, rather than doing the work on the story.
As ridiculous as it may sound I have trouble finishing the “evil” achievements in games. Thinking about this as I’m playing through Fallout 3 – in order to get the bad and neutral karma achievements I have to steal, main, and play the role of the not-so-nice guy. As long as there are consequences programmed in for the evil road I’m good with it.
