PGR4 FAQ
Project Gotham Racing 4 FAQ by HyeWarrior
Platform: Xbox 360
Publisher: Microsoft Game Studios
Developer: Bizarre Creations
Multiplayer: 8 player via Xbox Live
Release Date: 10/2/07

Introduction
Right from the starting line, Project Gotham Racing 4 creates an emotionally-charged racing experience, where you become attached to your careers, profiles, and vehicles. There are several new features that embody this emotional experience, the most significant being the new career mode.
Get ready to be rewarded with a growing fanbase that cheers you on, reacts to your every move, and supports you through victory. Just imagine hearing the roar of the crowd as you cross the finish line with your own style and flair.

New Features
PGR4 will be offering a slew of new features to the already popular franchise on the Xbox 360 console. Everything from new venues across the world to race on, to the realistic weather system, and maybe rumors of a motorcycles joining in on the fun as well! With this installment, it seems as the series is ‘growing up’ and becoming as realistic as possible with it’s new features. Things like blurred vision after hitting a wall, or the camera shaking at high speeds, or if you’re viewing a replay or race on Gotham TV, the signal will go into a brief static if the viewed car hits the wall. Also, there’s some enticing new rumors/hints that there will be 2 new forms of multiplayer, new uses for Kudos, and a step forward for Gotham TV.

Weather
The weather addition to the series has been getting a lot of hype lately due to it’s intense realistic effects, and to the way it will change gameplay. Everything from puddles on the road, to batches of snow, frozen little patches of water throughout the track, thunder storms, and droplets of water running off the surface of your car will all be in the final game. Players online will be able to toggle which kind of weather they want to play into the game. As players race through the tracks, they can even witness real time weather change. For instance, if there’s heavy rain on the track, and if the race is long enough, you might be lucky enough to witness the rain change into snow! Or you can see clouds roll in from above and start to put on a lightshow as the sky darkens.

Here is a list and description of all the weather types that will be seen in the final game:

  • Clear: A normal, sunny day. Your cornering will be sharp, assuming you have the skills.
  • Overcast: There will be lots of cloud cover, but no change to your vehicle dynamics.
  • Light Rain: A little drizzle, but nothing to change your driving style too much. The track surface will be slightly slippery, and you'll find that too much gas will lead to your backend sliding around more than usual.
  • Heavy Rain: Lots and lots of the wet stuff. Your visibility will be reduced, and you'll be peering between frantic windscreen wipers when using in-car view. Deep puddles form around the track, and should be avoided at all costs.
  • Wet: The aftermath of a heavy rainfall. Clouds are still brooding in the sky. The track is wet, but the puddles are dissipating and everything is slowly drying up.
  • Storm: Danger time. Rain, clouds, thunder, lightning. The sky is black, and your chase camera will be obscured by heavy rainfall. Keeping your car on the track will be difficult… but racking up the sliding Kudos won't be!
  • Light fog: A slight haze rests over the city, giving a slight reduction in visibility. It does not affect vehicle dynamics, but stay on your toes and don't let any corners creep up on you.
  • Heavy fog: A huge cloud descends over the track. Visibility is severely reduced, and finding your way is difficult. On some tracks you can drive uphill and rise above the fog, so use this opportunity to scout out the route below.
  • Icy: A really, really cold day. Puddles are starting to freeze over, so watch out for them. You'd be silly to go out without wearing a bobble hat.
  • Snow: The track is icy and slippery, snow is falling from the sky, and all the puddles have completely frozen over. You'll need to drive slower and avoid the icy patches; even if it means straying from the racing line.

Tracks
It has been confirmed by Bizarre representatives that there will be over 200 tracks to race on from 10 different locations across the world. Here is a list of the confirmed locations already:
  • London
  • Tokyo
  • New York
  • Las Vegas
  • Nurburgring

  • And one more mystery venue.

Re: PGR4 FAQ
UPDATE:
According to IGN.com, Kudo's will now play a HUGE roll in the game. You have a 'bank' for your Kudos, and as you rack them up in races, you use them to unlock cars, bikes, new garages, etc, kinda like PGR2. Also, you will be able to customize your bike racer. Whether it be helmets, jumpsuits, male or female, or to choose from up to 25 nationalities, this will be very useful for creating racing teams/clubs online. "You'll race with your club online in 4-on-4 team-based race modes including Capture the Flag, Cat & Mouse, and Cops & Robbers. Team-based Kudos will be earned during races, but every point you rack up adds to your single-player total. So whether you decide to race on- or offline, you will always be adding to your bank account."

Also, more muscle cars and "historic cars" are promised to make it into the final version of the game, so there's something for any gear head. Gotham TV is getting a massive overhaul, and will keep tracks of things like, longest powerslide on a certain track, and you will be able to search for it.

There will be over 130 vehicles to fill your various garages in the game, 30 of which will be motorcycles. The motorcyle company Duccati has been confirmed to make apperances in the final game even though it was already a given.
Wheelies, stopies, endos, drift, and catch air are the five types of tricks to earn while using a motorcycle. As with the cars of PGR4, there will be multiple camera angles, like the helmet view where you see through the little windshield of the bike and are able to see your hands on the throttle; it's basically the cockpit view of bikes.
