Introduction:

Welcome to the world of The Darkness, where you play as Jackie Estacado a mafia hitman for the Franchetti family. Jackie was raised in an orphanage where his only friend was Jenny, a sweet girl whose innocence would bring peace and serenity to Jackie’s way of life. On Jackie’s 21st birthday he becomes the bearer of his birthright…and family curse of “The Darkness”. An ancient power of three, which consumes his heart and mind. Jackie works for his “uncle” Paulie, the head of the Franchetti crime family, but he doesn’t like the way Paulie does business, he believes in a moral code between the mobs which he learned from as a child in the business. Paulie is a power hungry man, who wont let anyone get in his way or threaten to take anything away from him, filled with fear that Jackie may try to overthrow him, he sends the word out and writes out his check to have Jackie assassinated. Jackie won’t go down without a fight, and with his newly embraced powers he will set out to bring Paulie down, as well as the rest of the city if he must.

Frequently Asked Questions:

Q: The Darkness is based off of a comic book series, if I haven’t read them will I still be able to understand the story?
A: Yes you will be able to understand the story. The story of the comic line was changed greatly for the game. It shares the same concept but is very different. Personally I would recommend the comics to anyone just for a good read.

Q: What type of game is The Darkness?
A: It’s a modern day First Person Shooter, but that doesn’t even begin to describe the horror and supernatural powers which you can posses.

Q: What are the difficulty settings?
A: Easy, Normal, and Hard. You have the option for any of the difficulties right at the start of the game, you do not need to play on an easier setting to unlock harder settings.

Q: If I beat the game and then start up a new one will my Darkness strength carry over?
A: No, when you start a new game you start from scratch and must learn the abilities all over again.

Q: Do you have to use the Darkness abilities or are just guns an option?
A: Just using guns is an option, but at certain points it is necessary to use your abilities to advance past certain obstacles. Plus you will miss out on a handful of achievements if you don’t use your abilities that often.

Q: How do I take down the first chopper?
A: You cant, you are still weak in the ways of the Darkness, continue your training young one and you will soon be able to do more than just take down choppers.

Q: I’ve seen WWI screenshots for this game, what’s up with that?
A: It’s ***, or as known in the game as Otherworld. Where Jackie is taken to learn about his powers. And where the damned are to fight an everlasting battle. This isn’t ***, its much worse.

Q: Can the Multiplayer Achievements be earned in player matches as well as ranked?
A: Yes they can, you can earn them in both player or ranked matches and the number of players in the match does not matter unless specified by the achievement.

Q: Does this game offer co-op mode?
A: No it does not, it’s a single player game, both offline and online.

Q: About how long is the story mode of the game?
A: 8-10 hours, I would compare it to the length of Gears of War. Play on the harder settings and you will get more time out of it, plus earning all of the achievements.

Q: In the Multiplayer is Jackie a selectable character?
A: Nope he is not, It would be pretty cool but you can understand how the advantages would make him too much of a power house character. You can however transform into a Darkling.

Walkthrough:
I would just like to make a warning, that this walkthrough had limited location of collectibles, I have only listed the ones which are on the route to your objective. All others can be found in x LOCK IT UP x’s Achievement guide. I recommend you visit this page before starting my own.

Chapter 1

~The Tunnel~
The cops and construction workers are waiting and after you. You’re along for the ride while Mikey Cimino shows you just what it means to be a licensed driver. All you need to do for this level is point and click. You have a shotgun with unlimited ammo; this is also an achievement opportunity.  You do not need to kill all of them for the Road kill Achievement, just about half will do.

-Once placed in the front seat you pass by a column with a worker in front of it.
-Mikey runs over a worker shoot him off your hood to clear the view
-Two appear on your left, one after the other.
-Now look to your right, two more, take them out.
-Now back to the left again, keep looking to the left and watch some scaffolding.

~Its time to move~
Mikey gives you the guns, shoot the lock on the door and proceed. Take the elevator and kill the two guys waiting for you. The third guy has his back to you, get close and perform your first execution. Two more workers notice you’re here, finish them off and take a left into the building. There are three men in this room, duck and cover and pop one at a time. Next take the lift to the top, Proceed around the obstacle. Climb the ladder, then jump on top of the dumpster, there is a man in the window, kill him and climb through it. Around the corner is a TV set, watch it to receive a birthday present from your Uncle Paulie.

~Meeting in the Cemetery~
After the fall out the window make your way out of the building, you will come to a cemetery. There are a few men waiting for you, kill them take your time if needed and then head into the building taking you underground. Talk with Frank Rottenburg, and he will tell you the way out. Head back to the cemetery and watch as your Darkness powers take over. Devour their hearts and take a moment to learn about your abilities. Spawn a Darkling to hop the fence, kill the two men and open the gate for you.

~No place like a Subway~
Go outside the gate and walk down the street, there is a subway station, and you need a key. Go back to the street and to the left of the of the subway entrance there is a street vent, use Creeping Dark to kill the guard and take the key. Now enter the subway station. Jenny pages you, call her on the payphone. Afterwards talk to Enzo Scardina, you know where she lives, go down to the subway platform and follow the signs to Chinatown.(should be straight ahead of you once on the platform)

~Jenny’s Apartment/ Chinatown~
Watch the TV set which explains about the explosion you were in. You will then talk to Nicky Burruci, ask him what you will. When you enter China Town, shoot out the lights and then pick up the Potato Sack Darkling outfit which is against the wall right in front of you.

Summon a Darkling, take the left alley around the building and shoot out the lights at the end of the street. Kill the shooters on Orchid Street. Move on Orchid Street until you come to Harcourt Street, kill the men. Head back to Plum Street, where metro station is. Follow Plum Street then turn onto Orchid. At the end of Orchid take a right onto George Street. Kill the two men. Continue on George Street; make a right on Victoria Street. You are now on Mulberry alley and on Jenny’s back door step. Go up and see her, Room 11. What you say to her does not matter. But sit on the couch till she falls asleep and you will gain an achievement (Romantic). Afterwards call Butcher and leave the building.

~Meeting with Butcher~
Once outside Jenny’s apartment go forward till you come to Victoria street and then take a left. Kill the two henchmen and save the guy they are after. At the end of Victoria Street make another left and continue down the street until you reach the end. Kill the men waiting for you and head into the dark alley. The Green Olive Grove restaurant is just at the end. Go inside and speak with Butcher Joyce.

~Dutch Oven Harry’s~
After your conversation with Butcher the sirens go off. Hide in the restaurant and shoot the electric box on the left wall to kill the lights. Head into the kitcken. A swat team makes its way into the restaurant, stay in the kitchen and use creeping dark to take the 5 of them out. Afterwards head out and take a right. Use the dumpster for cover, you cant kill the chopper but you can take out the lights on the street. Then spawn a darkling and use creeping dark to take care of the cops.

After you kill the cops, go straight and veer to the left into the alley. On the other side of the gate are some cops. Use a Darkling to open the gate from the other side. Pass through the gate and make a left, climb the ladder and cross the two wooden planks. Jump onto the green cargo box(pick up collectible #54). Kill the cops which show up then go towards the end of Whitefish alley.  Two cops will crash their car into the Pool Hall. Take them out and descend the stairs into Huntes Point Alley. Put away your weapons and enter the pool hall. Only kill if they bother you, other wise leave the 3 people alone. Exit the door on the other side of the pool hall, which is the end of Hunters Point alley. Once in the alley look for a door with a vent. Shoot out the vent and use creeping dark to get into it. Look for the room with two yellow faces painted on it, in the room is a collectible #97 and the Jungle Outfit.

Talk to Matt Forehand, he gives you a secret password. After go down the alley and hop the dumpster to get over the fence. Go for the stairs in front of you. Make sure your guns and darkness abilities are not in use. Do this peacefully and you will get an achievement. Go to the door and say the password, walk past the two gunmen and take a left past the water heater, then a left past the stone column, and straight into the next room. Talk to Roach Librizzi, you get the Gandhi achievement at this point if you did not kill anyone. After Roach talks to Harry pull out the shotty and fire away. Put out the lights and summon a Darkling. Kill everyone. Once finished go back to the room speak to Harry on the intercom, one guy is sent down. Kill him and exit the basement.

Once out of the basement 1 guy will be waiting for you on the stairs. Kill him and then walk up them. Look at the Fire Escape behind you. Shoot the guys waiting for you and climb the fire escape. On the 3rd floor climb in through the opened window. In the Apartment take out the lights and then the 3 guys. When the room is clear climb the wooden staircase to the roof. Harry is up there, but scared to death he jumps in front of the subway train. Look down from the edge and hop to the right onto the AC duct. Devour Harry’s heart and you receive a Gunner Darkling. Use him to Stop the train. Afterwards walk on the track to the Canal Street Station.

Once in the station find a phone and call Jenny and Paulie. Take the next train to the Fulton Street Station. Once there climb the stairs to St. Mary’s Orphanage. You will meet up with Jenny and Jimmy, and have a talk with them.

~Grinders Lane~
Leave Jenny with Jimmy and head back down to the train platform. The exit to Grinders Lane is on the opposite side of the station. Once outside speak with Frank Mortis, he’s by the lamp. After talking to Frank go down the road and enter the dark alcove to the left of Jerry’s pawn shop. Follow the street to the compound, shoot out all the lights as you make your way. Once its dark enough use creeping dark send it over the compound walls, kill the two gunmen and destroy the control box, on the wall near the gate. Step inside and enter the workshop to your right. Take the gasoline, and listen to the radio for an upcoming shipment. Exit the workshop and summon a Berserker and a gunner. Go to the door with the red light, kill the lights then aid your darklings in killing the gunmen, do the same for the next room.

In the parking lot there is a small room, summon a Berserker inside, after use the gasoline to burn the money. Exit the room and enter the door next to it. Kill the two men. Exit the Cafeteria and turn left. Go down the hallway and kill the guy in the first door. Continue down the hallway and go to the front desk area. Unlock the door and exit the warehouse. Now go find Jenny. Head back to the subway station, proceed to the St Mary’s Exit and you will find Jimmy…but no Jenny. Paulie has her and he’s taken her to the orphanage.

~St. Mary’s / Savior~
Exit the station at St. Mary’s orphanage. Use creeping dark to kill the three guys above you. Walk up to the orphanage and enter the building. Go across the hall into the room. Follow the steps up the bomb area. Follow the ghost to the left, pass through the kitchen; go through the door on the other side.  After the scene go back to the bombed out area, move to the other side of the room and go up the stairs. The Darkness will take control for a while. Go to the next room, and take the far door on your left. Leave the bedroom and enter the other door on your right. The Darkness is toying with you; take the door on your left. Watch as Paulie and Shorte make your life a living ***.

Chapter 2:

~Otherworld/ Trenches~
Watch as the three soldiers are killed by a German, take their guns and take care of the German. Devour his heart and you will learn the new darkness ability “Demon Arm”. Move down the trench and use Demon Arm to take out the lights as you go. Use demon arm to remove the debris blocking your path, also use demon arm to stab a soldier in the small hideout to your left. Enter the hideout pick up the ammo, and continue down the trench. You will find a soldier you must kill on your right after some time. Pick up his binoculars to see where you’re going.  After you’re out of the trenches. Continue forward till you reach an opening, A plane crashes, eat the pilots heart and receive the Kamikaze Darkling.

Use the Kamikaze darkling to blow up the entrance to the next part of the trenches to the left of the crashed plane. Crawl through and use demon arm on the two soldiers. Summer a Gunner or Berserker and follow them down the trenches. You will find two more soldiers, kill them and move on. When the trench turns right, use creeping dark and devour the two soldiers standing guard and proceed to the end of the trench.

~Its tough being Dead~
Time for Killing get up and shoot down the soldiers in front of you. Use creeping dark to take out some more soldiers ahead of you. Summon some Darkling’s for companionship.  Move from one shelter to the next, killing grunts at each stop. Follow the trenches on your right, just below where you were earlier. Pass the barbed wire fence where the binoculars were. Take a right onto the roof of the structure. Move away from the trenches and move towards what you saw in the binoculars, stop when you reach the image of Pestilence.

Don’t aggravate Pestilence, or he will shriek and kill you on the spot. Instead walk on the planks to his right, and kill the two undead soldiers.Follow the ridge until you arrive at the big rocks. Use creeping dark and devour the two guards walking through the trees. Go until you reach a bunker. Shoot out the light on the bunker, use creeping dark to enter it from the right and kill the 3 men inside. Take their weapons and unlock the door. Enter the bunker and turn right, talk to the locked door. Use creeping dark, send it through the doors opening and unlock the door. Summon a Kamikaze darkling, he will go to the other bunker and blow it up. Move away from the bunker into the open area. Cross over the open area without and danger, you are now with the Allied forces.

~Allied Trenches~
No Guns necessary here, your with friends. Speak to soldiers in the trenches. Find Captain Eldridge and Corporal Greenwood, they are standing together. Next to Greenwood is a hatch, open it and climb down the ladder. Travel through the sewer and don’t stop, just keep pushing through. Enter the small carven with the soldier playing the harmonica.

Go through the narrow tunnel, reach the ladder and climb it, head for the village. When you enter the village you are told by a soldier to go to the church, someone is waiting for you. The church is at the top of the cobblestone path and to your right. Go straight for a bit and check out the church top level. After the bombed out section you find three soldiers around a fire. Get their guns and go out. Down the stairs and to the field hospital, in the hospital talk with Anthony Estacado, grab the two guns while there.

~The Hills~
Exit the church and head straight, once at the top cross the bridge on the left of the hills. Ignore the Darkness, carry on. Enter the carven go down the carven until you feel reach the lower level. A bell blocks the way to the hills. Use demon arm to move it, go outside and shoot out the lights.

On the hill be sure to kill everyone,, devour their hearts and stay on the path or be struck by lightning and sent back to the beginning of the hill. Descend the stairs and stop. Take out the lights and use creeping dark, send it down the path, devour any soldiers as you go. Afterward head for the hill, don’t listen to the Darkness, climb the hill. Enter the ruins of the building on your right for some ammo. Activate the Darkness outside of the ruins. The tree in front of you turns into a cross with a hanging man. Speak to him, and he gives you the ability Darkness Guns. Now return to the village and speak with Anthony, use the guns to get the feel of your new power, and devour their hearts. Once in the village head for the field hospital in the church, look for the sign made for you in the hospital. Descend the stairs and speak with Anthony. Afterwards go to the sewers.

~Cannon~
Listen to Anthony, climb the ladder in the same room and move on ahead, again ignore the Darkness. Follow the sewer system until you reach the open cavern. Use Darkness guns and go to the right, kill the two zombies. After move forward and look to the left, use the guns on the zombie in front of you. The small tunnel to the right had ammo, use creeping dark to get it. Move on and climb the ladder on the right. Backtrack a little to the third zombie you killed; the door cannot be opened until the water chamber is empty. Climb the two sets of stairs, 3 zombies at the top, use the darkness guns on them. At the top open the door that says “pumpe”. Once in the room summon a Gunner Darkling and shoot out the lights. Kill the three shooters in this room, return to where you entered and go through the door on your left. Go to the pump and turn the valve, go back and walk through the entrance at the room’s far corner. Walk the path till you reach the next pump room. Kill the lights and devour the heart of the dead man. You will receive the Darkling: Light Killer. Summon the light killer and he brings power to the pump. Afterward turn the valve. Both pumps are now on. Return down both stairs to the formerly locked door. Open it with the valve and enter, pick up collectible #67. Now head back down the path and turn left at the junction. Go straight into the next area, shoot out the lights and climb the ladder.

When you reach the top summon a lightkiller., have him go down the path. Devour the three enemy hearts after the lightkiller zaps them. Climb the ladder and enter the door at the top step. After the Darkness says a few words, shoot out the ceiling lights and continue on. Open the next door and turn right, watch out for the zombies on the upper level. Take them out and go up the stairs. Two men are waiting for you at the top. Go through the door which brings you to the cannon. Go to the back of the cannon and kill the 3 soldiers. When at the back of the cannon climb the ladder. At the top a door opens, be ready it’s you vs. six men. Kill the lights, summon a darkling, and use your darkness guns. After its clear climb the stairs, take a right at the top and follow the platform to a door. Your outside, walk along the outside of the cannon and continue up the stairs in front of you. At the top follow the path to the hatch. Open the hatch, jump in and start the engine.

Chapter 3

~Aunt Sarah~
Your back in the Canal street Station. Find Jimmy the Grape on the other side of the platform. He tells you what you missed; next make your way to the lower east side exit. At the top of the steps outside the station exit turn 45 degrees to the right. Sarah’s house is the first floor of the apartment in front of you. It’s the only one with the light on outside. Ring the bell and follow her inside. Speak to her in the kitchen.

~Shorte gets his~
Leave Aunt Sarah’s building. Take a right and walk to the end of Raspberry Street. Cross to Thompson Street and follow till it ends. Head for Pier 19. Follow Thompson Street all the way to the other side of the Lower East Side. You’ll see a sign on the right at the end of the street. Go through the tunnel until you reach the wharf. Follow the road to the loading docks; kill the two workers which are complaining. Use demon arm to remove the cargo boxes, collectible #93 is under them. Look on the wharf edge near the cranes. Walk up to the man sitting down and kick him into the water. Pick up collectible #85 which he is sitting on. Return to the Lower East Side. After the tunnel make a left at the first street and a right on Thompson. Follow the street back to the subway station; get on a train to go to Fulton Street station. At Fulton cross the platform and enter the service entrance door next to the tracks. This takes you to Gun Hill. Follow the hallway to the next door, and then follow the stairs up the street. Once on the street take a left and follow the alley to the end, you’re now at Captain Shorte’s building. Speak to Abe Hunter sitting in the next room; he gives you the key to Shorte’s place. Get in the elevator afterward; when you leave the elevator take the first door on the left. Shorte shoots and shuts the door. Enter the apartment and duck in the kitchen to the left.

Get the ammo on the table and enter the hallway. Jump over the bookshelf and go up the stairs. Grtab the guns in the next room, open the door that Shorte went through and follow the hallway. When you enter the next room Shorte runs and locks the door. Careful of the window, the chopper shoots you but you can’t hurt it. If you show your face in the window and quickly back up into the hallway you’ll anger the pilot. Do this twice and then run into the hallway to avoid the missile which is going to destroy the room. When it explodes go back into the room and watch the chopper leave. Hop through the broken window and out on the balcony, then climb down the ladder on your right. At the bottom of the ladder turn around and follow the buildings right wall, go between the air ducts and you’ll find collectible #71. Jump over the duct and down the lower level. Jump onto the duct lining the rooftop and then onto the roof fan. Jump again on the duct on the side of the building and walk along it. Once around the first corner Shorte shoots at you. Keep going and leap to the next vent box, continue until you can leap on the rooftop ahead of you.

Shorte has lead you to his police station. Clear the station and make your way across the rooftop to the door. Can’t open the door so jump onto the duct below and then into the office. Exit the room and follow the hallway. Open the door at the end of the hallway. 3 cops are waiting so take cover and take your time, shoot out the lights. Climb the stairs to the rooftop, Shorte is on the chopper and its going to shoot at you. You can’t bring it down so RUN! Turn around and jump off the roof through the gate opening. The balconies break your fall, head back to Fulton Street Station via the service entrance. Butcher pages you; give him a call in the subway.

~City Hall~
Go to the men’s bathroom in Fulton Street Station, the gate key is in the stall with the “out of order” sign. Exit the bathroom and go to the end of the platform. Pass the Grinders lane exit. Milton Deval is next to the gate. Use the key to open it, and go straight ahead into the City Hall Station. Follow the tracks till you see a train car, enter it to get the Road Worker outfit. Exit the train and walk up the stairs. Speak to the two underground citizens, don’t shoot them. Afterwards leave them and go through the tunnel towards the Turkish baths, two guys wit knives are around the first corner. Kill them and move on, you run into some more people who you can take out easily. At the end of the tunnel take the door on your left, it has a pentagram on it, follow the steps down.

Summon a darkling to take the lead. Tell it to move ahead, it will trigger some booby traps. Get a darkling to go through the water around the corner, it gets shocked. Shoot the wire near the wall so it’s safe for you to continue. After you climb the steps summon a light killer. Watch out for falling objects including a ceiling pipe. Go under the fallen pipe on to the other side of the steps. The door with the pentagram is booby-trapped. Once in this room you hear Deval’s brother shouting at you. He lowers the gate preventing you from climbing the stairs. Stay away from the left gate; destroy each chain on the right gate. When it opens kill Deval. Move the small box on the ground so you can hop up to where he fell. Devour his heart and gain the darkness ability: Black Hole.

Face the ascending stairs that are blocked, use black hole to open the way. Climb the stairs, crouch under the bars, turn left and follow the tunnel. Two men are around the corner, kill them and continue till you see an opening on your left. Jump onto the scaffolding, walk through the entrance and into the open door. The Turkish baths are just up the ladder, climb it and walk up the stairs, down the hall and turn the corner, continue till you come to a pile of junk. Again use black hole to clear the path, go around the corner and take a left. Go down the hallway. Follow it till the end; go around the corner once again to find collectible #74 in the next room. Turn around and backtrack until you see a point to your left where you can summon a darkling. Call a Kamikaze and have it go to the end of the hallway, it till explode at the broken wall creating a path for you.

Go through and climb the stairs. Once at the top open the door to the baths. Several cops are waiting inside, use a black hole and you should be good. Watch out on the upper levels, go through the opening at the back of the bath to the second bathroom. Use black hole again and continue up the stairs. You meet more cops, take them out and be creative. Cross the wooden beams separating the broken floor. Once over summon a darkling to help. Kill the men in the next room. Afterwards proceed into the right entrance to gain access to the shower room. Kill the officer, leave the showers and turn right, kill the officer in the hall and then turn right at the door. Open the door, but don’t go inside, unleash a black hole inside. It removes the two cops inside, get the ammo and Shote’s suitcase sitting on the shelves.

Watch out on the upper levels, go through the opening at the back of the bath to the second bathroom. Use black hole again and continue up the stairs. You meet more cops, take them out and be creative. Cross the wooden beams separating the broken floor. Once over summon a darkling to help. Kill the men in the next room. Afterwards proceed into the right entrance to gain access to the shower room. Kill the officer, leave the showers and turn right, kill the officer in the hall and then turn right at the door. Open the door, but don’t go inside, unleash a black hole inside. It removes the two cops inside, get the ammo and Shote’s suitcase sitting on the shelves.

Head towards the bath, Anthony’s spirit shows up. When you get near the baths you’ll hear a helicopter. Summon a gunner darkling. When you enter the upper area a swat team comes through, wait till they calm down and use a black hole on them. Shorte’s in the chopper, use a black hole where the swat team entered and it will suck in the chopper. (Achievement anti air) Descend the stairs past the small bathroom. When you see the cops stay in the hall and use a black hole. Shoot any survivors, go to the other side of the room, and summon a black hole on the cop with the shield. Take out all the cops on the other side of the bathroom, head back to the City Hall Station. Two more shield cops at the bottom of the stairs, use a black hole to take them out along with 3 other swat members in the next room. Continue down the stairs to the ladder that leads to City Hall. After you climb down follow the path past the scaffolding. Turn the corner and a familiar friend opens the door. He warns you about an entire police force waiting for you.

Go through the door and up the stairs. When you reach the top go through the door and take a left., follow the path up the stairs., through the door and into the next room. The doorway on your left takes you into the bathroom with collectible #23 in it. Exit the bathroom and take out the lights. Up the stairs is a bunch of cops waiting for you. Summon a light killer and gunner. As well as a few black holes. When you reach the battle area ready your guns. The light coming through the skylight will limit your use of power. When it’s clear use demon arm and move the debris next to the scaffolding. Go through the doorway behind the scaffolding; kill the police waiting for you. Descent the stairs, turn right, follow the oath to the tracks. On the way you will have to kill several men. Just before you reach the base of the stairs use a black hole to kill off an entire squad. Enter the station and go inside to gather some dark energy. Summon some darkling’s to help you lead the way down the tracks to Fulton Street station. Stay to the right and finish the last squad. Head back to meet with butcher, once in the station go to the men’s bathroom. Butchers inside waiting for you, its time to set the bomb. Exit the bathroom and call Shorte.

~Trinity Cemetery Church~
Take the train to Canal Street Station, and head to Trinity Cemetery exit. Ascend the stairs, Anthony appears to tell you he’s figured it out, and the darkness buds in. Follow the street into the cemetery, and enter the church. Again you must ignore what the darkness says. Enter the next set of doors into the main hall. Do what Shorte says, then turn back and find a dark corner. It’s an ambush, summon a gunner darkling. After you kill the first wave, spotlights turn on. Keep summoning more darkling’s, especially gunner darkling’s., and take out the lights. The last of the shooters will come from the second level. Use a back hole to finish them. After you kill Shorte’s men the flash bangs come down and they’ve got you.

~Death isn’t the End~
So Shorte has you and there isn’t much you can do except take the torture. When he turns around, mock the two other men, so they come near you. Each time they will give you a bit of darkness energy. After the fifth time, use demon arm when prompted. It’s the end of the lien for both of you as Shorte and you die.

~Otherworld second trip~
Open the hatch above you and climb out onto the outside of the cannon. Follow the path down, and climb the ladder to the ground. At the bottom an undead soldier will let loose a scream, he tells you that you need ammo for the cannon. You cant end his suffering, so go towards the back of the cannon. Walk away from the cannon and veer right to the steps that lead to a path along the cliff. Kill the zombies, descend the stairs and follow the trail. Kill the 5 zombies which pop out on you, next shoot the fence lights as you go. Just before going up the stairs kill the four zombies waiting for you. Summon a darkling id needed, then venture up the stairs and go through the doorway. Don’t listen to the darkness, it’s the right way. Go through the door, turn right and climb down the ladder.

Enter the right pipe to pick up collectible #98. Back out and take the other pipe and pick up collectible #64. Push out the gate and jump into the water. You’re in the village, turn right and follow the water till it ends. Jump on the platform to your left and climb the ladder. Two allied soldiers are there to meet you. Speak to Frances Fox, and he will tell you Anthony is waiting for you in the trenches. Follow the cobblestone path to the other side of the village. Take the ladder down to the tunnel. Follow the tunnel and climb the ladder to the trenches. Anthony meets you at the top, get in the tank, he drives and you’re the gunner.

~Tank Buddy~
Anthony tells you  where to shoot, and the gun has unlimited ammo, so don’t go easy. Your first target is a plane dead ahead. The next one comes slightly to the right. Up the hill take out the two posts with soldiers on your left. Then work on shooting the tank in head of you. Around the ridge 5 planes will come at you from the front. Finish them and then shoot the post on your right. While going over the bridge look to the right and shoot down the two planes. Turn back to the front and kill the one German soldier. Then take out the post on your right. After crossing the bridge four planes and a tank come after you. Anthony takes a path and gets you stuck. Fire high to the right to kill the two soldiers, and then face the front to destroy the tank.

Just before the second bridge aim to the right and kill the five planes. Next shoot at the gunner spots on the left and right. Then shoot at the entrance to the front. Shoot at the tank just as you cross a crippled bridge. Look for the tank to your right, then in front of you and high up for the last place. You make it through and watch as Anthony is killed by a monster. Get back in the gunner seat and shoot the beast, his mouth is his weak spot, shoot till he lets go.

~German Bunker~
Anthony is in the middle of the room dying, listen to his last words. Leave the room and turn left after you go through the door. Continue through the first door on your left. Follow the path and try to ignore the darkness, go through the door in front of you and turn right, continue through the door with the moving cog on it. Up the steps you will reach the castle entrance. Shoot out the lights and travel through the door which says “transport”. Be sure to have your darkness powers charged. Enter the room and look to the right, kill the zombies. Another comes from above, kill him. Move around the transport and climb the metal stairs to the top. Pull the lever and open the bunker door. Go down and into the transport train. Start the engine and use the train’s guns on the entire ride, and kill all enemies. Watch out for a plane coming from straight ahead; kill the soldiers below you when returning at the cannon. When it stops jump down and kill all the zombies. Four are on the ground and a sniper at the top of the cannon. Climb the ladder; follow the path up the cannon back to the control spot. Open the hatch, jump in and fire the cannon. Now enter the home of the Darkness.

~Darkness Extraction~
Exit the hatch and make your way down. Go for the castle, follow the steps down the front of the cannon. A few collectibles are in this area in the Darkness chamber. Collectible #77 is near the light on your left, #32 is just before the castle steps, look near the right light. #33 is inside the castle on top of the dirt mound. #84 is behind the broken gate. Now from the cannon base go forward across the wooden planks. Once inside follow the path through the hall into the chamber. Once inside look around, you must extract all of your darkness powers from the extraction stations. Go to each station, the more power you extract the more the mutilated body becomes free. Once you do all for station the body turns into the manifestation of the darkness. When he summons the darklings don’t shoot them, tit will only make him stronger. Put your guns away and approach him in peace. Choose to accept his offer or don’t the outcome is the same and he consumes you, you have control over the darkness.

Chapter 5

~Mother of God~
You wake up outside of St. Marys, exit the courtyard and go left, head for the subway station. At the Fulton Street Station Vinny Mortarello tells you to go see Butcher Joyce. He’s at Aunt Sarah’s, take a train to Canal Street Station. Get off at the Lower East Side, her place is at the corner of Thompson and Raspberry. Go up and ask about the “mother of god”. Butcher tells you it’s a Chicago family boat called the Santa Maria. Head back to the Fulton Street Station, and take the exit to Grinders Lane. Once on the street take a left, just before the right turn on the street use creeping dark to slaughter two gunmen around the corner. Another guy runs out for the office to help the gunmen, kill him. Next walk past the bodies and enter the slaughter house in front of you. Once in kill the guy in the room, summon a lightkiller and have it kill the lights in the office.

At the end of the hallway there is one man, kill him quickly. Take the first door on the right in the hallway, it’s the cafeteria, continue into the next room. Have your darkling summoned and enter the butcher room. Five men come running in from the doors in front of you and form the side. Use a black hole if needed. Exit the room from the right and you enter the courtyard, proceed through the door straight ahead of you and enter the workshop. Use the radio on the table, you’ve called the Santa Maria, and as soon as you do a bunch of guys come in for you. Use a black hole on them; place it directly on the car. Kill and survivors if there are any. Exit the courtyard and follow the road to the subway station. Enter the subway station and give Butcher a call.

~Pier 19~
Take the rain to Canal Street Station and return to the Lower East Side. Once outside head down Thompson and turn left on Clark Street, it brings you to the tunnel to Pier 19. As soon as you exit the tunnel get close to the right wall. Use creeping dark on the 3 men up the road. Run to the back of the car in front of you. Use your guns to kill the sniper on the catwalk above you. Move to the parking lot on your right, walk down the alley to pick up collectible #92. Return the way you came, and hang a right and follow the road to the wharf.  Duck behind the crane and use black hole to clear the deck of any men. Kill the rest with your guns. Now proceed up the ramp to the boat. A siren goes off, make your way to the front of the boat and kill the lonely sailor. Return to where you entered the boat, at the ramp open the cargo hold. Three guys starting shooting you go on and use a black hole. Go inside and down the stairs, summon a darkling at the bottom and open the door. Look down into the cargo hold and shoot down the men waiting there. Climb down and walk through the first row of cargo boxes.

Go back to the ladder, but be careful of the gunners above you. Climb the ladder and follow the staircase up to the cargo hold. Climb the second staircase and go around the catwalk. The catwalk breaks sending you towards the lower level. Use demon arm and stab the cargo to place them in there space where the catwalk broke. Hop on the cargo to get to the other side. Open the door; turn right ad go up the stairs. Kill the lonely gunner. Once at the top turn right and kill the shooter behind the barrels. Make your way to the other door, summon a darkling and open it. Climb the stairs and kill the guys at the top. Open the door and turn left. You’re close to the Captain; kill his gun friends who are just around the corner. Move ahead and walk down the stairs on your left. Turn the corner and enter the bridge, kill the captain. Now get off of the boat. Once off Paulie’s men come out from behind the cargo boxes, use the crane as cover and lure them closer by peeking out. Use black holes to take them out, kill and survivors. Careful of the sniper on the roof of the warehouse ahead of you, a good shot will kill him. Run over to the two nearest cars, paulies got a roadblock. Run to the building on your right and hide behind the corner. Use creeping dark to kill as many men as possible. Use your guns and a few black holes if needed. Use demon arm to pick up a car and use it as a shield, as you approach the road block. Once you have finished with the roadblock make your way back to the Lower East side.

~Save your friends~
From Pier 19 tunnel turn left onto Clark Street. Follow it until you reach am alley to your right. Kill the two men sitting in the alley. Continue down Clark kill the guys you come by, they are easy pickings. Take a right onto Thompson Street. Outside Sarah’s house you will need to take care of them men shooting at her, one guy is near the subway station and three more are near the car outside her house. When you clear the street go inside her house, go for the bedroom to get more ammo. Once in the other room more men show up, and the darkness doesn’t want you to use your powers. Help the man in the New York jacket; you’ll need to cover both sides of the room. Once done in the living rooms go help Sarah in the kitchen. Cover the kitchen window there is a rifle leaning by the counter. After you’re done in the kitchen go back to the living room. This is the last of Paulie’s men. Afterwards Butcher tells you where Paulie is, and Jimmy has something to tell you, the choice he gives you is up to you.

~…and *** followed with Him~
Exit Sarah’s and gather up the guns and head for pier 19. Take Thompson Street to the other side of town and hang a left on Clay Street. You will be at the Pier 19 tunnel soon. After the tunnel follow till you reach the wharf. There are four patrolmen who don’t know you, kill them or let them live its up to you. Go to the edge of the wharf and look for the motorboat. Climb inside and let Mario know you’re ready for a ride. Once on the island the darkness lets you know that the sun is going dark. The lights go out and darklings are automatically summoned. Travel up the stairs which lead to the top of the island. Kill the men who run down the stairs while you’re traveling up. Go up the stairs, you will encounter 15 guys while traveling up, don’t worry they don’t stand a chance, kill them how you wish. Gather as many darkling’s as you can before going into Paulie’s mansion. Send the darkling’s forward and use your guns to aid them, back up if you are hit too hard. Shoot out the spotlights, and eliminate all the men in the front yard, use as many darkling’s as you need. Climb the stairs, and take a left, your going for the atrium, go to the edge of the house for ammo, to recover, and to spawn more darkling’s. Peek around the corner and kill any men who come out the front door. Don’t stop shooting until they stop coming, now the darkness will take over and slaughter everyone on the first floor. You’ll get control on the second floor staircase. Gunmen come running at you, while the darkness gives you words of encouragement. Use a black hole to slaughter the men, then the darkness takes control. You can shoot, but it doesn’t matter. You’re now outside the mansion and again need to use your guns and darkling’s.

Re: The Darkness FAQ/Walkthrough

The darkness helps and takes down an airship...just for you. You must now go to the hallway, hen you have full control shoot the guy in front of you, and kill the lights. Peek around the corner and kill the men behind the couch. The darkness will again take control and destroy a wall your back on the second floor stairs, walk around the upper level, look down and kill any men you see on the lower level. When it’s clear descend the stairs and turn left into the hallway. The darkness will take over and kill the men around the corner. You then drop into a room with one of
Paulies men in it, you can choose to show mercy or choose to kill him, and it’s up to you. Follow the hallway, go to the first floor lobby, up the stairs, take a left, and then straight through the double doors at the top. Follow the path and use the door on your left or right, both take you there. You’re now outside the lighthouse, open the door and enter. When you enter, Paulie gets upset, start climbing the stairs, or use the ladder. When you reach the top exit the door to the outside railing and climb the stairs. Careful when you open the door in the light room, or Paulie will get you, just peek and shoot a few times. Once he’s properly wounded he falls down and begs for his life, choose the method of execution because Paulie dies one way or the other, and will eventually start shooting again. Now you belong to the Darkness…but there is light in the Dark.

Objective: Speak with George Hadel to find out he is being harassed by Compton Scarr. Find Scarr on the Canal Street subway platform standing near a column. Convince him that playing a harmonica should be free to do.

Cutrone
Where: Canal Street Station
When: Chapter 3 and 5
Award: Collectable #4,40,90, and lumberjack outfit
Objective: Speak to Dana Cutrone. Her boyfriend has locked her out of her apartment. Go the the apartment to get the key back. Her apartment is located on Mulberry Alley in China Town, right next to Jenny’s apartment. Collectable #4, and lumberjack outfit are inside the apartment. #90 is just outside the apartment in a dark alcove.

Bracelet
Where: Fulton Street Station
When: Chapter 1, 3, and 5
Award: Collectible #41
Objective: Ingrid Pulanski has dropped her bracelet on the subway tracks. Find it for her. Stand at on the tracks look at her and move about 20 feet to the left and you will find it. Watch out for the Train though.

Dare
Where: Fulton Street Station
When: Chapter 1,3, and 5
Award: Collectible #42
Objective: Charlene Warburton challenges you to jump down onto the subway tracks and pick up 4 coins before you can be hit by a train. Hop down after your conversation to be ready immediately.

Mortarello
Where: Fulton Street Station
When: Chapter 3 and 5
Award: Collectible #43, Construction outfit
Objective: Speak with Vinny Mortarello, he wants you to take out some of Paulie’s business. Kill 5 of his men. There is an apartment building across from Shorte’s building. Use creeping Dark to get into the windowsill to take out the last of the 5 enemies. The construction outfit is inside the room as well.

Harmonica
Where: Canal Street Station

Award: Collectible #45
Objective: Talk to George Hadel, it seems Compton Scarr has taken his harmonica once again. You will find scar on Waterfront Street on the Lower East Side. Retrieve the Harmonica and bring it back to George.

WhiteFish

When: Chapters 3 and 5
Award: Collectibles #7, and #47
Objective: Speak with Terence Willis, he wants you to remove the gang hanging out near the Whitefish pool Hall.

Cups

Objective: Find Lucas Hellinger after you have completed the Whitefish objective. Terence Willis will give you advice on how to win at cups.

Deval
Where: Fulton Street Station

Objective: Speak to Mitch Deval, you need to sinf his brother who is apparently in City Hall Station. You will encounter Deval’s brother on your way to the Turkish Batch. When you come back from City Hall Station you will receive your reward.

Objective: Speak with Charlie Hazelgrove. He wants you to deliver a locket to his wife Rosie. His wife can be found sitting on a bench in the Fulton Street Station.

Objective: Speak with “little Petey” Terrone. He wants you to deliver a message to Mickey Famiano. Famiano is standing next to the vending machine on the train platform over at the Canal Street Station.

Objective: Speak with Alfred Blackmoore, he is having some tenant trouble. Find his Tenant Dana Cutrone in the apartment that you opened up for her and collect the pay.

Pajamas

Objective: Speak with Jimmy the Grape. The cops are keeping Pete “Pajamas” in room 261, he needs to be killed before he spills his guts, grab petes list of rats when hes dead. Pete can be found in an apartment down Grinders Lane. It has a small parking lot outside. Break into the room kill the police escort and Pete, take the outfit and the list and leave back to jimmy.
