Before I start; let me berate you for blaming Microsoft for this when it's TEAM NINJA's fault.

Now then, this problem has been going on for about a month, and you STILL go and update the game, and buy the download. You then assume the problem is with the disk, and replaced it (which is all well and good, up until this point.) Then it happens again. Then, instead of, oh, I don't know, RESEARCHING to see if any one else is having problems, you take the whole console back to have it shipped off to be "fixed", and after you realize your mistake, you attempt to justify it by saying "I shouldn't have to figure out their problems" when 1) Sending the console back will do nothing, and 2) Were never asked to solve it in the first place. You deserve however much money this makes you lose, and be glad you got off with so little lost, dumb ***.

BTW, the points are on your account, so provided you still have your hardrive (Please say you didn't send it back...) with your gamer tag, you should still have whatever points you didn't spend.

Wrong.

Itagaki & Team Ninja built NG2 with the "Mission Mode" INCLUDED.

Both Itagaki & Team Ninja resigned and sued Tecmo before NG2 was even released.

It was after they left Tecmo that the brilliant people that comprise the intelligentsia at M$ and Tecmo decided that they could remove the Mission Mode that was originally included in NG2, and then sell it as DLC.

The only thing that is noticeable is that you can tell that Itagaki & Team Ninja hearts really weren't into NG2. But if I was ripped off for 1 million dollars (PLUS)...I would be a lot more pissed off than my heart simply not being in my work. Angry [:@]

Itagaki & Team Ninja were LONG GONE before this update snafu happened.

It's still Team Ninjas'/Tecmo's/whoeverpreogramedit's fault for *** up like this, and then taking forever to fix it. At least it's obvious they're trying, when the three costumes that were scheduled for release didn't come out.

Take a look a Tecmo's site.  All support for NG2 is redirected to Microsoft.  I think it's fair to say both MS and Tecmo share the blame.  It is a major bummer for everyone playing this game and I feel like it's a real slap in the face to all Ninja Gaiden fans that they kept the DLC package and associated update of death online to ruin the experience for everyone.

MS has said they are working on a fix, so hopefully they will come through.  So, while the situation sucks for all of us, there is no point in taking it out on each other.  This is just another test we ninjas must endure... Sad [:(]

It's a good idea, but this thread has had about 400 replies and a whopping 16000 views, so isn't it the best kind of petition we could really have? (not that it's made any difference so far, ha ha)

To: Fin of Eireann, how can you say team ninjas heart was not in this game? They are very proud of NG2s awesomeness. And even if they aren't just by looking at it you can tell they put everything they had into it. The only reasonable complaints I have heard is that there is slow down... in one tiny spot. But it is better to keep the slowdown at the expense of a highly detailed and lush game. By the way, stop blaming team ninja for not fixing this bug, THEY DON'T EVEN WORK AT TECMO ANYMORE. Who do expect to fix it and how could they possibly do it? The delay may be unacceptable, but it is also understandable. Just delete your cache already and play the damn game. Complaining on the forum has proven useless, how long will you all continue to vent to each other, instead of going to the source?!

Every one says to clear your cache, but don't think about the people that have gotten the mission mode. You need the update to play the mission mode. What a pain in the *** it would be to have to delete the update every time you want to play the story mode, and in doing so making it so you have to reupdate evey game you put in that has an update available. It is not exceptable by any standards. The only reason the update is still up is because of the Mission Mode, they are making money from it so they fix it. They could take the update down, but will not do that as it will make them lose money they could be getting. Heck this update was made up in a day so they could put the Mission Mode back up on the market place.

LRP85: Are they really making so much money? I'm not sure if MS is being malicious or not, I would assume they want to fix the problem. It must be hard without the Developers though... then again if they are not if trying to fix it, and they never update that would suck. The game works great for me! I just don't want this political or technical(?) situation to make people over look the game itself. I'd compare this situation to a good asian martial art movie that a U.S. studio owns the rights to but refuses to release in the states. No one can see it, and the studio is at fault... but that doesn't mean the work of art is bad.

That is the sad part is that they are not even making that much money from the Mission Mode and yet they still keep that part functional. Pretty sad huh.

They had the patch out the next day after releasing the Mission Mode and it not working right, that patch is the one that messes up the game. With out the patch you cannot play mission mode. With the patch you cannot finish the story mode. They could fix the story mode if they just took the patch down, but they won't do that because without it you cannot play the mission mode. That is messed up if you ask me.

The mission mode is fun, well worth it*.  ...darn it, I miss playin' this game.  Stick out tongue [:P]

*just not worth it if you like to play a few missions, switch over to the story for a while, quickly switch back to some missions, etc. since that whole process requires you to constantly remove the patch of death, re-install it, remove it again, etc.

It is the fact that they could take the update down, but will not because of mission mode. I also would like to get mission mode, but if I do I will have to hassle with updating and then deleting all updates. So I am not getting MM because of this. The fact that MS have let the update stay up and make people work around it is wrong and they should have to do something about it and they are just sweeping it under the rug and have not said anything on the matter as to when an update will be out. The only thing they have said is that an update is being made.

Again, if it was not for MM needing a patch we would not have a problem, another example of a rushed product.

I think that you misunderstood my post.

I actually was sticking up for Itagaki & Team Ninja.

I'm not sure if you have ever continued working at a job/employer that has screwed you over. But it's very difficult to block the animosity in your heart. You can do & fulfill all your contractual obligations (even if your employer didn't)...but it's really hard even if you are dedicated to your work, to separate the two.

What I see in NG2 was a great group that created a great sequel, but towards the end...it appears that they became detached from they're work.

It may have disillusionment on their part...or it may have been the upper management cutting them off from putting the polishing finishes on NG2 (I'm inclined to believe the latter)...but SOMETHING happened before the game was released.

We know that Itagaki & Team Ninja had originally included the "Mission Mode" as part of the game itself, and not as downloadable DLC content, which Tecmo & M$ decided to charge to download.

The decision to remove the Mission Mode from the actual game and stick it up as DLC, was obviously made without Itagaki & Team Ninja's consent.

So, in a roundabout way...I think we are in agreement. Wink [;)]

I honestly am interested to see where Itagaki & Team Ninja end up.

I am hoping that M$ sets them up in the similar fashion as the did "Bungie"...but that has yet to be seen. Smile [:)]

How do you know it wasn't meant to be DLC? Where is a link to officially back that up? I haven't heard that b4.
Does it take long to DL? If so it's not on the disc. Itagaki left after the game discs were already pressed. Itagaki left the eve b4 it was released. They forced this on him, to remove it from the game and keep it as DLC b4 he left??

I'm thinking everything was in place & planned with Itagaki's consent but they were unaware of the glitch and now with all the turmoil and departures, fixing it either isn't a priority or its a  problem(cause the main dudes who designed the game quit an the company has a lot of problems atm.) Yoshi the prez of tecmo, the guy Itagaki had problems with just stepped down and quit himself hasn't he? This may be low on the crisis list for them atm is my thought.

Because it (the "Mission Mode") was included & listed in the pre-release "Official" Prima Guide as part of the game itself...

No, Itagaki ANNOUNCED his (as did many of Team Ninja's) resignation on the eve of the game's release.

But if you go back and study how this whole thing broke badly, it all stemmed from the 1 million (PLUS) dollars that Tecmo owed Itagaki for DOA4.

I'm thinking everything was in place & planned with Itagaki's consent but they were unaware of the glitch and now with all the turmoil and departures, fixing it either isn't a priority or its a  problem(cause the main dudes who designed the game quit an the company has a lot of problems atm.) Possibly, but I doubt it.

Itagaki & Team Ninja were perfectionist (as many Japanese are). Itagaki & Team Ninja have built a reputation as continually improving the games they develop long after the initial game release. They didn't do that after DOA4 or NG2, which lends itself to the "exception to the rule".

In other words, something changed. Either they lost their enthusiasm or were restricted in finishing their product. Something neither of us will probably know, until Itagaki, Team Ninja & the 300+ Tecmo employees resolve all THREE of their concurrent lawsuits.

Here is a good place to start, as to reading the legal briefs regarding this matter...

***,***,***,***,***! You all really need better things to do with your time. Whether it was greed or an honest mistake, people are only human. This definately won't be the last time you see something like this from a game. I'm glad that it's this small and not somethig huge. Yeah, you can't upload your karma score on the last level or get date stamped, but things could be a lot worse. So just delete your cache if you want to play story, or download the "patch of death" if you want to play mission mode. I'm on master ninja ch.5 and it's not that big a deal if I don't get date-stamped just as long as earn that gamerpic. This is one of the best games I've ever played. Story isn't too mindblowing, but the actual gameplay is phenominal. I guess what I'm trying to say is just enjoy the game!

We'll have to agree to disagree then.  No harm in that.  I'm glad to hear you're able to enjoy the game even though it's broken.  Hopefully it will be fixed soon and we'll all be able to enjoy it again.
