Re: Post your AV Setups - Part 2
Just got my harmony ps3 adapter. Works flawlessly. However, if you plan to use it in a media closet setup with the rf extender, buy a 3.5 male to 2.5 mm male cable to connect the ps3 extender to the rf extender. Unless you want to have the ps3 extender line of sight for your remote to control via ir. This thing is great! Overpriced, but so what.

Just wondering....does it do anything that the ir2bt doesn't do?  I've had that for many months now and I can't imagine it being much different, but if it is....I'd love to hear about it.

Is this you telling me to buy more stuff? You're my kryptonite. Ha! Anyways, mine will be here tomorrow. Can't you just strap one of the IR blasters from the RF to the front of the PS3 extender? You may have confused me.

can't tell exactly as i don't own the ir2bt, but judging from the website, no.  although all the ps3 commands were already in the harmony's database and did not have to be learned. don't exactly know if that applies to that particualr component.

btw, lambo just came out with a lp640 superveloce you might need to purchase to complement your ht. how's that for kryptonite.

you might be able to use an ir blaster on the ps3 extender (not sure), but it also has a jack where you can use a hardwired connection to the rf extender.

Hmm. I guess it's possible that the software requires that it be hardwired in. And don't worry. I've already been looking at Lambo's. Ha.

Got mine today, got it all hooked up. I agree with you, its well overpriced, but just barely worth it. Haha. Did you get the feeling from the packaging that it was a very new product? Like they hadn't finalized the packaging quite yet..? Just didn't seem like that box was really meant for the PS3 adapter (kinda just sitting at the top of the box).

It works great though, and it most definitely works with the IR blasters from the RF. What do you want me to buy now? LOL!

I think we're done buying stuff for now. Yes, does seem like a really new product. The instructions made no mention of how to hard wire the extenders either. Hope I don't have to call tech support for any reason (knock on wood) and this thing keeps working like it has. Now feel free to spend your money on other junk.

Quick question: is blu ray worth it on a 32", 720p tv? I ask because I am considering getting a PS3 and this would sort of be the deciding factor. This probably isn't the right thread to post but I figured plenty of people here would be able to answer this. Will I see a significant difference from an upconvert DVD player?

Blu-ray discs play at 1080p resolution, so it would already be downscaled on your TV. It would still look nice regardless, but I don't think the difference between that and an upconverted DVD would really be worth spending another $400 on a PS3.

There is more to BD than just resolution. In fact in terms of PQ, resolution is the least deciding factor.

That's true. I guess I made the mistake of assuming that redsox doesn't have a super high-end audio setup because of his TV. DVD still offers 5.1 dts audio, it sounds great.
