----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Note: There are 2 differnt kinds of money that you buy stuff in the game with and will need to know about for some of these achievements. First there is ADAM which is a substance that can change what you look like, how smart you are, cure diseases, heal wounds, and cause mutations which in the game are called plasmids and tonics. Adam can be used to purchase:
  • Tonics
  • Plasmids
  • Bonus health bars
  • Bonus eve bars

Then there is the real money that you find that is used for:

  • Medkits
  • Ammo
  • Weapon upgrades
  • Vending Machines (unless hacked)

Note: There are several enemies that you will need to know about for some of these achievemnets. There are many types of creatures that are of the same genetic type. Here are the types and each one of their genetics.

  1. Splicers

Deformed, genetically modified Rapture citizens who are now remnants of Ryan's army, the Aggressors cannot survive without ADAM due to their extensive biological modifications. They wear little or no armor, and normally roam the levels of Rapture, searching for other inhabitants to kill and steal ADAM from. They are aggressive and quick to attack, and will use their enhanced physical strength, group tactics and, sometimes, semi-biological weapons to kill all in their path.

  • Thuggish Splicer
  • Leadhead Splicer
  • Spider Splicer
  • Houdini Splicer
  • Nitro Splicer

    2. Little Sisters(Gatherers)

Originally to be portrayed as slug-like, genetically modified sea creatures but now shown as genetically modified children, the Gatherers were created by a scientist named Dr. Tanenbaum as a solution to the ADAM shortage. They extract ADAM from the dead with the tools they carry and eat it, their bodies reprocessing it into a usable form, known as EVE. The team designed them so the player would have a moral conflict in using children to obtain ADAM as well as severe difficulty due to their relation to the Protectors as their charges. You can either choose to save these little sister or harvest from them to obtain more Adam, and other abilities.

3. Bid Daddies(Protectors)

Mute, lumbering bio-mechanical monstrosities, created to protect the Gatherers. They are heavily armored and wield high-powered weaponry, including a large drill. Their armor somewhat resembles a large diving suit. Most of the inhabitants stay out of the way of the Gatherers and Protectors. They will not attack you unless provoked. Despite their size and typically slow movements, they become incredibly fast once engaged, in some cases quicker than the player they are also like traveling boss battle.

  • Roise
  • The Bouncer

Note: For more information on Bid Daddyes please referr to the second page of this guide.

    4. Security Bots

Throughout the city of Rapture, they are called via alarm by various security cameras. Security bots appear to hover and fly using the same method as helicopters and are armed with machine guns. When disturbed, the security cameras' siren will sound and an unlimited supply of security bots will pour out for a limited time. The only way to take them down is to shut off the security system by using money to turn it off.

  • Security Bot
  • Turret Bot
  • Secruity Camera Bot

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

 Completed Welcome (10g)
Successfully complete the Welcome To Rapture Level.

The entire first part of the welomce is exactly what you played in the demo if you even played it. Some of the locations of audio diarys and other items are differnt though and the inceneration plasmid is no longer avalible in the first level but in the second part of the first level.

Maxed One Track (20g)
Purchased every slot in one of the Plasmid or Tonic tracks.

Ok first of all you are going to know what tonics are. Tonics are passive ability-boosters that take no EVE. There are 53 of these ability-boosters throught the game. You can this achievement by either buying every slot in 1 of 4 tonic tracks or 1 of 4 plasmid tracks. Remember that you only need to buy each slot in just 1 track. Note: you must first obtain ADAM from little sisters either by saving them or harvesting them and use ADAM at the gatherers garden to pruchase the tonics. Some tonics can be found hiding in secret room around the game or just out in the open on the ground.

Maxed All Tracks (50g)
Purchased every slot in all four Plasmid and Tonic tracks.

This one is going to take some time and you probably won't get it until you near completion of the game. For this achievement you need to obtain enough ADAM so that you are able to purchase every slot in all 4 tracks of both the tonic and plasmid tracks.

Bought One Slot (5g)
Purchase one slot in any Plasmid or Tonic track.

All you have to do is pruchase 1 slot in 1 of the 4 tracks for either the plasmid or the tonic tracks. Really easy and self-explanatory achievement.

Upgraded a Weapon (5g)
Acquire at least one weapon upgrade.

All you need to do is first get a wepaon (hand-helds do not count) and upgrade just once and you will get the achievement. You are going to be able to get this one after you kill Peach Wilkins in Neptunes Bounty.

One Fully Upgraded Weapon (5g)
Fully upgrade one weapon.

See "Weapon Specialist"

See "Weapon Specialist"

Five Fully Upgraded Weapons (10g)
Fully upgrade five weapons.

See "Weapon Specialist"

Weapon Specialist (20g)
Acquire all upgrades for all weapons.

Ok in order to obtain this achievement you have to find every weapon upgrade station in the game. Each station will allow you to upgrade a wepaon once and only once. In order to fully upgrade a wepaon you must upgrade it twice.A list of known Weapon Stations is listed at the end of this guide for your convinence. Please referr to the new Sander Cohen information first before you read the locations. Cohen plays a big part in this achievement.

Note: You are not able to research until you otain the research camer from Peach Wilkins. In order to fully research a splicer you must make the red bar that shows up when you take a picture of them max out 3 times and that is for all enemies in the game including big daddys and little sisters.

Re: BioShock Achievement Guide/FAQ/

Fully Researched Little Sister(10g)
  Fully research the Little sister.

Ok, here is where it gets tricky. During the game you have to make a choice, either to kill and harvest from little sisters or to obtain more ADAM (that you can only obtain from them) or you can choose to save them. If you choose to kill a little sister and harvest/research it you will now not be able to get a 100 point achievement that I suggest you get while playing the game on easy. See "Little Sister Savior" for more details.

Note: If you want to know more about big daddys please read below. Big daddys are big genectic creatures that are responsile for protecting little sisters. If you happen to come across a big daddy that is currently being protected by a big daddy do not touch him. If you touch a big daddy he will start to attack you. So if you dont touch him or bother him or try to attack the little sister he wont harm you. If you save the little sister the big daddy will still not harm you but if he does, just beat him with an ugly stick becasue you have the little sister and you don't need to worry about being nice to the daddy anymore.

Prolific Photographer (5g)
Take at least one photo in every research group.

To clear up confusion you are going to need to take a photo of at least 1 of each type in a specific group. Please see "Note" up above for more explanation and details.

Research PhD (20g)
Max out all possible research.

You need to max out the bar 3x of every splicer little sister and Big Daddy to unlock this. Not every enemy in the game but 1 of each type of splicer etc.

Quality Research Photo (20g)
Take a Research Photo of the highest grade.

You need to take 1 photo that gets the highest grade possible which is A. I suggest taking a photo of one of the big dadies are attacking you. You should get it from taking a shot of a big daddy for the first time.

Researched a Splicer (5g)
Take at least one Research Photo of a Splicer.

This is really a self-exsplanatory achievement and yes this can be any of the types of splicers. You can get right after you get the camera from Peach Wilkins.

One Successful Hack (5g)
Perform at least one successful hack.

This achievement can be ontained on the 2nd part of the first level. When you come across as turret, security bot, or vending machine, just use your lighting plasmid and disable it. Then you will then able to walk up to it and press "X" to start to perform a hack.

Note: A hack consists of revealing differnt kinds of tube peices to form a working pipe across the screen to lead one end of the plasmid track to the other end. Most you may have done this during the demo but I suggest making sure that you only reveal one peice at a time and revealing as you need to. Revealing them all at once can casue massive confusion and making it nearly impossible to hack, breaking the machine.Weather or not there are more types of hacking processess are unknown.

 Hacked a Security Bot (10g)
Successfully hack a security bot.

This can also be obtained on the 2nd part of the first level and is part of the main quest so is impossible to not get.

Hacked a Security Camera (10g)
Successfully hack a security camera.

Can obtain on second part of the first level.

Hacked a Turret (10g)
Successfully hack a turret.

Can be ontained on the second part of the first level and is hiding in a corador on the right.

Hacked a Vending Machine (10g)
Successfully hack a vending machine.

Obtained on the second part of the first level.

Hacked a Safe (10g)
Successfully hack a safe.

Obtained on the second part of the first level.

Skilled Hacker (40g)
Successfully complete 50 hacks.

This come as you progress through the game and hacking anything you come across that you can hack. Again, explore every aspect of an area before you move on to the next.

Avid Inventor (10g)
Successfully invent at least 100 items.

As you go through the game you will need to invent items. These items needed to invent weapons can be found on dead boddies or in safes or laying around on tables etc. These can only be start to be found in Arcadia.

Note: In order to invent special and differnt items you will need a special machine to do that called the U-invent machine. The U-Invent machine is a machine used to make things like ammo, traps, hacking devices, and weapon upgrades so they can hold more ammo and shoot faster and reload less frequent.

Ammo Inventor (25g)
Successfully invented all possible ammo types.

You should get this about half-way through the game. You just need to find enough parts to invent all of the ammo types listed in the U-invent machines.

Little Sister Savior (100g)
Complete the game without harvesting any Little Sisters.

I suggest that you go through the game a first time on easy so you can get this achievement over with as little invovment as possible. Going through the game without harvesting from the little sisters is very difficult even on easy becasue they play a big role in the game for you to survive in Rapture.Once you go through the game on easy and get this achievement go though again on any difficulty you choose harvest from the little sister getting the other achievement. I say this becasue it is better to get a hard 100 point achievement over with than it is to get a 10 point achievement and having to go through the entire game again making everything harder.

Tonic Collector (50g)
Collect or Invent 53 Tonics in the Physical, Engineering and Combat tracks.

There are a total of 53 tonics in the game. These can either be invented or found as you progress through the game. You must also make sure that you make them in combat tracks or this achievement will not unlock and will have to start a whole new game. Locations of all 53 tonics will be coming soon.

Historian (50g)
Find every audio diary.

This achievement will proabably come on your first playthrough as long as you follow my main tip of the day and just stay in every area until you are sure you have explored every aspect of it. If you are not able to do so wait until the location of each diary is found and a proper guide is written.

Seriously Good At This (40g)
Complete the game on the hardest difficulty setting.

If you did my little trick I posted a couple days ago you would of have the experience of playing the demo on hard mode. Knowing this you will know that the enemies take a little bit more damage and your attacks are a little less effective as in any other difficulty. I suggest strongly that you harvest from every little sister that you find. If you choose not to harvest from them the game is still possible. One of my friends went through the game on hard his first time playing and beat it without harvesting so good luck.

Dealt with every Little Sister (40g)
Either Harvest or Rescue every Little Sister in the game.

No matter which path you take or choose to follow, you are going to get this achievement. You will probably get this achievement on your first playthrough and save them all if you follow my tips from up above. Just make sure that you harvest or save every little sister in each level ot you will not get this achievement.

Note: Please remember that if you decide to save little sisters you will be given a specail gift from a mysterious doctor, for each one that you save. This docotor is the one that created these and he wishes that they be saved. These gifts are still unknown but they probably conisist of special inhancements that increase as you progress through the game and save more little sisters.

Lucky Winner (10g)
Hit the jackpot at a slot machine.

The slot machines cost money ($10). I suggest doing this achievement when you are done with all of the money spending achievements. But if you have extra you can usually get a jackpot after 4-5 pulls. If you run out of money perform this trick. Pull and slot machine and if you lose turn to your left to right and pull the one next to you and it will usually stop on all apples giving you extra cash. (can only be done once in the same room.)

Secret achievement information has been moved to the bottom of the guide.

Other Inportant information:

Little Sisters - Ok, I know a lot of people get confused with these little demon woman so let me un-confuse you. During the game you will come into contact with a genetic little girl called a little sister or also know as a gatherers. These little girls are protect by big daddys that are very dangerous and are willing to die to make sure these daughters survive. When you come in contact with one that is alone you can walk up to it and choose to either kill and harvest from it by pressing "X" or you can save her by pressing "Y". Choosing to save a Little Sister will give you great rewards later on in the game, but choosing to harvest from them will not only give you more ADAM and more abilities to do things but it will also give you more chances to fight Big Daddys if you are a fighting machine. There is more information on Little Sister throughout this guide above.

More - I suggest saving them and never harvesting them in any game mode becasue you get 200 ADAM in the gifts that you get from saving the little children and and 80 regular ADAM just from saving them right there on the spot. So in the long run you get more ADAM and extra supplies and ammunition from saving them and can get the same achievements.

Sander Cohen - When Cohen asks you to complete his masterpeice and you do he will be walking down the stairs behind you and you can either kill him right then and there to get the dead corpse achievement or you can wait until later in the game to kill him and also ontain that same achievement and a key so that you can get another achievement for entering his secret quarters and also another achievement called "Weapon Specialst" becasue there is a Weapon Upgrade Station his room. So, yeah...don't kill him after completing the master peice.

Re: BioShock Achievement Guide/FAQ/

WARNING: Some of these secret achievements have spoiler warnings in them. Look at your own risk. The achievements will not be explained becasue these are spoiler achievements and will not be explained in a written guide for wach one until 1 week after the game has been released.

Defeated Dr. Steinman (15g) – The player has defeated the crazed Dr. Steinman.

This achievement comes as you progress through the game naturally and is impossible to not get.I suggest using your shotgun for this one becasue the machine gun is to slow at this point and doesnt take enough damage. A few well places shots to the head should kill him. If you run out of ammo the wrench is still pretty effective at this point too so just let him have it.

Defeated Peach Wilkins (15g) – The player has defeated Peach Wilkins.

This achievement will come in Neptunes Bounty. honestly I killed him without even knowing who I was killing. He will be the one throwing bottle bombs at you. Becasue you are allowed no weapons, I suggest using your telekineses Plasmid to grab his bombs and throwing them back at him until he is dead. Also watch out for the turret in the back and the other splicers trying to kill you.

Restored the forest (15g) – The player has restored the great forests of arcadia.

This is part of the main quest and is impossible not to obtain. You must go around search for all of the nessassary material in order to fix the oxygen in Arcadia. Each part needed will be highlighted gold and those are what you need to pick up to complete this achievement.

Completed Cohen’s Masterpiece (30g) – The player has completed Sandra Cohen’s great masterpiece.

This took me a really long time becasue I was searching in 10,000 other places when the dang entracne was right in front of me. >.<. To complete this Cohen wants you to kill 4 people and take pictures of there dead bodies. After each dead body photo is taken take it back to the masterpeice and place it on the sculpture.

Defeated Andrew Ryan (30g) - The player has defeated Andrew Ryan.

honestly you don't even have to do anything to kill this guy. When you finally reach Ryan you will go into about a 3 1/2 minute cutsence and you kill him in the scene, and ther you go and achievement for killing somone not even pushing a trigger.

Broke Fontaine's Mind Control (30g) - The player has broken Fontaine's mind control.

Become a Big Daddy (30g) – The Player Has Become a Big Daddy.

Irony (10g) – The Player Has Taken a Picture Of Sandra Cohen’s Corpse .

Defeated Atlas (100g) – The player has defeated Atlas.

Found Cohen's Room (10g) - The player has entered Sander Cohen's personal quarters.

Power to The People Location

Credit of information goes to - Ruzlix

#01 - In Peach Wilkins' hideout (Neptune's Bounty), bottom floor. As soon as you come downstairs it's directly in front of you.
#02 - On the way to Farmer's Market in Arcadia, the station is located to the left after you go up the first stairs coming from Tree Farm.
#03 - The Winery's basement in Farmer's Market. There's a flooded area with one of them attached to the wall. It's in front of you when you come down the stairs, just keep going forward.
#04 - In Fort Frolic, from the Atrium bottom floor, go towards the bathrooms and then head right and follow the path until you see some some small stairs to your right leading up to a door. Go in there and go down into the basement. The basement is filled with cigars and the like. On the wall here is the upgrade station.
#05 - Go to Poseidon Plaza in Fort Frolic and go to the other end of the bottom floor (the opposite end of where you enter). Go into Sinclair Spirits (the room that has a corpse on a sort of "altar"). In the basement of this store is the station.
#06 - Hephaestus Core Room, go down to bottom floor and run around (literary) and eventually you'll see it attached to the wall.
#07 - Hephaestus, in Kyburz's office. Attached to the left wall (back turned to entrance) in the back of the room.
#08 - Bottom floor of the Mercury Suites area, on the back of the center pillar.
#09 - In Sander Cohen's secret room, Olympus Heights' Mercury Suites area.
#10 - Go to Atlas' Headquarters in Apollo Square (Fontaine's Home For The Poor area). It's located on the fourth floor. Go down the stairs in the room and look to the right and the station will be in front of you.
#11 - When you enter Point Prometheus and chase Fontaine, eventually you will end up in a little square and Fontaine will go behind a locked Museum door. At the opposite end, from where you came, of this square is a dead Big Daddy and next to it is the upgrade.
#12 - In the Voice changing labs in Point Prometheus, one of the labs has it.
