yeah i was checkin out your pictures , that redbull came out really good

so i have a zonda, i wanted to go more abstract with, so i made a bright paint splat theme, spent a few nights on this, in the paint tool screen it looks NEAR perfect, i keep finding little details to improve on, but when i race or go to take photos on tracks, i have a problem with layers acting funny. heres the deal, base color - bright yellow splash colors - all bright blue - same blue so i only actually used the same decal at first on each side to get started, then used other decals to mix it up, change it and make it look to the normal person (in race) like they were not even remotely the same side decal. then on the bumpers, top, hood etc i changed things up with many many different designs. they all flow from side to side, and leave (work in progress) no abrupt ends or stops inbetween body sections. a problem i had was toward the end, i started to use base color decals to cover up parts of the accent blue to change the appearance more. this looked amazing in the paint tool screens could not see anything wrong, even looked great in the menus. but when i race, or put it on a tract you can see the outlines of the base color decals faintly in blue. i have checked time and time again . . they are more then big enough to cover what i was trying to cover, but why is the blue decal under it showing through the cover?? is this an open bug or glitch or am i doing something wrong?? here are a couple pics and links i uploaded to show. http://forzamotorsport.net/MyStats/MyPhotoBlowout.htm?ID=2231225 http://forzamotorsport.net/MyStats/MyPhotoBlowout.htm?ID=2231222 if those links do not work please go view my photos under the gamertag - vapurtrale. thanks in advance!

Use a vinyl the same color as the base coat to cover the entire body of the car as the first layer.

actually that does sound like a decent idea. now for the car i have some 20 hrs into . . can i move all my decals down a spot? and just put the same large color base in front of them all so its a base layer? maybe like group them all, cut, insert big rectangle, paste group in spot 2?

wow that did work. SOLUTION if you already made your car and are having problems, 1.) go to whatever side of the vehicle ( i did all) 2.) add all the existing layers to a group, copy (to be safe), then cut 3.) take the first box and put a large solid square of a different bright color (so you can see coverage) and size it so it is much larger then the side, top, front whatever you are covering 4.) go to the second shape box and insert or paste your group from before and it will put them back in order the exact same place, sizes and colors, etc right back over your newly colored side 5.) repeat on all sides 6.) go back and change all vinyl squares to base color or car color 7.) save 8.) go race and take photos 9.) post here and let me know this worked for other people thanks for the recommendation!!!!! my zonda looks mint now and it took about 5 min to fix the whole thing!!!

i seen a lot of compex designs and patterns on cars that other people own,i my question is where can i get these designs. do i have to unlock them, as they are not in the menu when i go to paint my car.

As you'll note reading through this thread, a lot of the designs are made by talented individuals using entirely the Livery Editor in the game.  Go to the first post on the first page here, and you'll find links to various tutorials which are helpful.

I have seen many impresive paintjob videos.  Some that just blew me away.  I'm also aware of the Halo 3 ones that were done.  Now for a few questins.

1.  How do you change the rim color?  I can't seem to find it.

2.   Whats the most impresive or favorit painjob you seen?  For me it will be the LOST one.  It's my fovorit show and the cars color is all so right.

3.  Whats the most bizzar one you seen?  For me in the auction room someone had a nude anime character on it.  That and Borrat.

Just curious if anyone else does many of these, and if there are any particular tricks that people have found particularly effective at producing the effect.

i'm still here, with a new ID... still playing forza moto 1 and painting cars (mine).  Too bad no one sees some of them.  No fancy pictures like boondocks, although i had one, but you know how kids like to delete your profile trying to play. so, i have to start all over.  :(  Holla back, send an invite, and maybe we can race downhill.

Ok so i finished my design. i had to fix some parts, so i just chose the circle design and painted it with the same color as my car. in the garage, it looks good. but during a race, there's a black outline. anyone know how to fix this?

Take your time.  Learning is part of this process, and please do check out the posts in this thread.  Back on the first page are numerous links to additional information, informative videos and step-by-step processes.

To answer your question:  Highlight the layers you want to save, select them and choose Create a New Vinyl Group. To load it once it has been saved select a layer and choose Load Vinyl Group. The groups you save can be loaded onto any car you want, and can be resized, moved, and spun as needed.

How do you place a design on the right side of your car so it is the same as the left ?

I can only get it so it is the wrong way round ?

Copy to the other side will give you exactly the reverse of your design, if that's what you want. 

 However, if you have a design on the left side, and want to put the same thing on the right side, select all the layers of the design and then Save As . . . New Vinyl Group, giving it a recognizable name.  Then move to the right side, select an unoccupied space in the design boxes on the lower portion of the screen and load up the Vinyl Group. 

That's my terms off the top of my head.  There is a more detailed description in the first post of this thread.

Try reading back through this thread, 'squad.  There's lots of information, like from the first post:

"How do I copy a design from one car to another?

"To copy a design from your vehicle to another of the same make and model go to the “Save Design” option in the “Paint Car” menu.  The second option is “Save to Design Catalog.”  To apply your design, go to the “Design Catalog” option in the “Paint Car” menu and you can see any designs saved to the catalog and select the appropriate design."

Wow, I haven't been on here in a while, I can't believe this thread is still up (kudos to snowowl). Its inspired me to play Forza again and resume work on some of the cars I had started. Anyways if you're looking for more info on the livery editor in addition to this thread check out the forzamotorsport.net forums.

Go back up a few posts and read the information again.  Copy will "copy" however if you first save the design as a new vinyl image, then when you go to the other side you will choose to select a saved vinyl, not paste or copy.

Yeah my fault. I find the menu confusing in Forza 2 as they should have just had everything in one menu when copying etc.

are they only limited to how many sponser names you can get on your car in the game? is it a copy right thing or what? I was looking for like coca cola, motorola type stuff. is there an opition to upload some from your PC or not?

There is absolutely no external input for the Livery Editor.  Everything you see on designs is created within the Livery Editor unless it comes as part of the supplied manufacturer "decals" and logos already in the Editor.  Take a look on up this thread, especially on the first few pages where there are links to tutorials and demonstrations.
