I was just like you, searching for ways of getting the achievement and all of them didn't seem to work for me personally.  Well, I found through a lot of searching that after clearing out the first level completely, run all the way around the sides of the screen first clockwise and then counter clockwise along the sides.  If that was unclear or you just need better understanding please reply and I'll help you out.  Hope this works for you!!!!

I had read somewhere else about doing the clockwise lap and the counter clockwise lap and it worked for me. However, I didn’t do them back to back or anything I just made sure to do it before my last guy died.

I just got it! First i Dug through the first stage completely and... nothing! Then i Dug through the first stage again, but first went around the entire level clockwise and then anti-clockwise from the beggining (as soon as i killed the fire breathing monster and one more). Then it was just digging through the rest of the level. I died on the first stage after digging through everything and... ACHIEVEMENT Unlocked!

 

Tips:

- Kill the fire breathing monster (Green moster) 1st - now you are safe from getting killed by fire across distances.

- Kill one more monster (i usually kill the one in the top left screen - above the green one) and leave 2 alive THROUGHOUT THE GAME until you dig through everything.

- When either of the two monsters on your tail get close enough, pump them up (up to 3x pump) and they will stop for a while. You CAN walk through them withought dying while they are balooned! Use this top your advantage!

- Remember to move clockwise and counterclockwise around the screen at least once during the game.

I'm not sure if there's anyone who's actually played the game that doesn't already know to this, considering the last monster will just exit the stage once he's the only one left.

As for the Achievement itself, I got it without doing all of this clockwise, counter-clockwise hokey pokey stuff. Not saying that other's don't have to, but I just did like the Achievement says and dug out everything on the screen.

Yeah, me too Serblander. People are probably just missing a piece or two. It can happen *very* easily.
BTW. someone of topic but is anyone of the Dig Dug enthusiasts as excited as me to hear that we will get Mr. Driller (the game started as Dig Dug 3 but was renamed as Mr. Driller) on the arcade this year?

i must have cleared the stage 10 times without getting it... then all i did was delete the game and then redownload it and i got the cheevo without having to do the whole outside both ways thing you are speaking of

After trying to get this last cheevo, i have finally managed to do it with the help of this video, thank you

ive tried it mupltiy times and no luck. even deleted the game and still no luck. dont no what to try anymore

The trick is to "clear out" the empty tunnels that the monsters are in. The achievement is really "traverse every area of the screen." It seems to think that those tunnels have dirt in them so you have to cover that ground too.

I also never did any of the clockwise/counterclockwise screen laps.

I know the cheev isn't glitched, it is just a matter of luck.  I have tried this circling the map for evil about 7 times, no cheev.  I did the same thing when I got home on two of my other accounts to try it, both popped.  weird.

thanks for this post. I had so many problems because I would clear the stage about 5 times!!! I thought it was never going to unlock I didn't know there was a certain way though but doing it this way unlocked for me. thanks!
