EDIT: I am going to give MS a call and see if I can't get a refund. I will definitely be filing a complaint in due time whether or not I get a refund. This is blatant incompetence by all parties involved.

    Yes, if you play as tails you get nothing but lag and there is NO ONLINE CO-OP like there is supposed to be as cited here: http://www.xbox.com/en-US/games/s/sonic2xboxlivearcade/default.htm and reported on dozens of news sites.

    I realize it was my mistake in trusting SEGA in releasing a quality release after taking into consideration their recent track record. But I had truly hoped they would not *** the release this bad. (Also I was blinded by the enticement of online co-op... that would have been amazing) As far as a refund, I highly doubt I will get one. But I definitely wish to make my complaint heard and duley noted.

    Probably nothing. I own this game on several different medias for several consoles and only wanted it for the ability to play online with friends. The lack of online co-op is a HUGE letdown. (Also the VS is nigh unplayable as Tails)

I admit i thought there was going to be online co-op also, and i thought it was kinda disappointing, maybe they'll add it for sonic 3 if they release it on the arcade.

btw theres going to be a great co-op game in just 12 days :D

I can only hope for online co-op in Sonic 3, but somehow I have this suspicious feeling someone doesn't want to pony up the money for any serious development for the games.

If you are one of those few people who has never played Sonic 2 before, go ahead and buy it! The single player is still as great as ever! But anyone looking for something new in the way of online multiplayer, save your money.

Haha! I knew someone would bring up the trial! I don't usually try games that I am anticipating to purchase or believe to be of quality: see Geometry Wars, TMNT, Bomberman, Ikaruga when it is released... this was definitely an oversight on my part! I will definitely be more wary of future purchases of arcade games.

(Then again... it is only $5, I would have likely purchased it at some point even if it hadn't been advertised to have online co-op but it really is the principal of the matter.)

Actually this game did offer something new that the Genesis version couldn't do: The ability to play mutiplayer Online with other people.

Co-op in this game would be pointless due to the fact that Tails in Co-op would make the game too easy because of his Invulnarablity and Sonic speed over Tails would cause the problems as well,  having a Co-op with those conditions would thus make the game be unbalanced.

I personally feel it was for the best that Microsoft made the Verus mode in this game be the highlight of the X-box live feature..

Sonic is just to fast and anybody who needs tails' help with these bosses mst be truly awful. It was only ever a little easter egg in the original games, a gimmick if you will. Never meant to really be played like that, i just wanted the game.

Co-op has always been in the game though since the Genesis days.  The TC(topic creator) is only saying that the co-op is only limited to local play, and not online play as it was advertised.

There's two sides to the story there.  Tails is useful since he's invulnerable, but useless in the fact that he constantly goes off-screen.  I recently played Sonic 3 & Knuckles with a friend over at my place, and it was surprisingly less fun than it was 10 or so years ago.  Granted it's predictable that'd happen over so many years, but you can tell where Sega could make another 2D Sonic game with co-op and still make it a really fun experience; as in yes, the Genesis games could be even better.  What I'm talking about is, whenever the 2nd player as Tails goes off-screen, he/she has to wait awhile or a short time before finally re-appearing to try to catch up to sonic again, rense and repeat.

It's fun, but it's not FUN.  Online co-op would've made it even better, but ah well. That's Sega for you.  (Geez I thought I'd never say that)

Yea, I really really like co-op games, a lot! When I saw that this would have online co-op i though, AWESOME!!! Downloaded the game just to find that I was lied to. WTF. I still love the game, but being lied to about features in unacceptable. False Advertisement Blows!!! They need to add online co-op or at the very least apologize.

That doesn't necessarily mean the game is bad, it could just mean that you are bad at it. Don't blame a game for your own lack of skill.


And for all of you complaining about lack of online co-op, sure, it was advertised, but, come on, its not very usefull. You can use it to help with bosses, and maybe a few other things, but for the most part, it doesn't make the game any more fun. Also, stop complaining. You already have online vs., one thing that you didn't have in genesis, and before a few days ago, everyone who has ever played this game dealt with the lack of online co-op for 15 YEARS. So, go get some real friends, stop being lazy, leave your house, and go play this $5 game no one forced you to buy with them.

Sure I would agree if  the single player was messed up but it's not. So what if there is no online co-op? Sonic 2 is a great game and if the online co-op was   the only reason you planned to buy it you need to learn how to spend your money better.

I actually like it now, not too bad, I like the Casino it's fun.

Having been told there's Online Co-op then taking the video game home to only find out - Oh, that's a misprint on the box, sorry no co-op. It degrades the value of the game's replay and degrades your overall opinion of the game when you Look forward to what's printed.

I think Armored Core 4 for the 360 had a misprint on their box, and after I beat the game I sent it right back at EB. Oh and DDR universe, what a crappy disappointment to what I was expecting.

Who cares about online mode? It works well enough to get the achievements. This game didn't have online 15 years ago when it was released and it was a freaking masterpiece, and it still is. I've noticed the music skipping a beat a few times, mainly during the special stages, but it's not enough to bother me.

During the special stages the frame rate increases while on turns. It's enough to force me to use Save states.
