Fatal Inertia FAQ

Fatal Inertia FAQ

Composed by Unreal Warfare

Introduction

In the mid 22nd century, a handful of immense corporations control virtually all buisness, politics, and entertainment on the planet. To glorify their image among the masses, these corporate powerhouses have begun funding their own, often extreme, sporting events. Having long since outgrown the stadiums of previous centuries, modern extreme sports have moved outside the city walls and into the untamed wilderness. By far the most popular of these spectacles is the sport of Fatal Inetia.

Through harsh enviroments spanning dense rainforests, immense glacial fields, and canyons of razor sharp rock, there is little room for error as drivers reach speeds of over 500mph. But Fatal Inertia is not merely a test of speed. The brave men and women who compete will risk their lives in combat involvong unconventional weapons the likes of which the world has never seen. At such incredible speeds, just a few feet from the ground, combat can often result in total, if not fatal, disaster.

Platforms: Xbox 360 and Playstation 3

Developers:
Koei Canada

Publishers:
Koei

Genre:
Combat Racing

Engine: Unreal Engine 3

Modes:
Single, Local Multiplayer (2 Players), and Online Multiplayer (2-8)

Race modes

Combat Race: The primary race event in Fatal Inertia. This is anything goes!

Knock Out: Played over 7 laps, last place at the end of each lap is knocked out.

Velocity: Only Rockets, Time Dilators, and Force Blasts are available in this race, making for races of insane speeds.

Magnet Mayhem: There are no weapon pads in this race, Every craft has an unlimited amount of magnet weapons which are replenished automatically over time. Different racecraft have different payloads

Time Trial: Show your the best by setting the best lap record on your favourite tracks.

Locations

Lost Canyon: Racers must be wary of obstacles that are not as sturdy as they may appear to be.

Deepwoods Pass: Deepwoods Pass will see racers racing headlong into thick fog, flying through waterfalls, and reacting to avoid the massive timber that can come crashing down at any moment.

Paradise Isle: Races in this location may seem less constricting than other locations but shipwrecks and other hazards that have washed up on shore make for very challenging races.

Devils Summit: The mountainous terrain and vertical drops make Devils Summit extremely treachourous.

Glacier Bay: Racers must navigate their way through forests of evergreens, ice caves, and blinding snowstorms. The ability to handle these conditions seperates the elite from the rest of the pack.

Racecraft

There are four types of racecraft available thorught the racinf series for you to use.

Mercury: Although the top speed is low the acceleration and handling are superior. A good craft for novices.

Phoenix: Balanced functionality makes Phoenix class crafts prefered by many advanced and novice pilots.

Aurora: While capable fo astonishing speeds Aurora designs can be highly unstable and vulnerable to damage.

Titan: This class is strong against impacts, and is not affected much by weapons. It is weak in contests of speed, but displays its power well in battle.

Customization

After you win your first race in career mode you will be able to customize your first craft in the garage. You can use your customized craft in any competition in Fatal Inertia. Customizations can not only affect the overall look of your craft but also your crafts performance. You can also pick a paint scheme for your craft and add an emblem to give it that personal finishing touch.

Weapons

Magnets: Stick to the craft and throw it out of balance, slow it down, and make it easier for other weapons to find the craft.  Will overload and explode after a short amount of time if not shaken off. RB to fire forward, LB to fire backward.

Cluster Magnets: Large container of magnets that are proximity triggered.  RB to fire forward, LB to fire backward. Beware using it when going slow as it will attach itself to your craft.

Rockets: RB will fire forwards to blow up next to another craft to blow them off track.  LB will use the rocket to accelerate your craft forwards at much faster speeds.

Smoke: RB will fire a smoke screen ahead of your craft, and LB will fire it behind the craft.

Force Blast: A wave of force that pushes everything in its path.  RB will fire it forwards, LB will fire it behind you and accelerate your craft forwards with a nice burst of speed.

Force Field: Place a force field around your craft, protecting your craft from weapons and collisions with other crafts or terrain.

EMP: Temporally disables opponents and all EMP Weapons.

Time Dilator: Slows down time for everyone but you.

Cable: Elastic tether cable.  RB for a magnetic connection to a craft or LB for a connection to the terrain.  Can be used to slingshot your own craft forward or around corners, snag oppenents to the ground, and snag oppenents to each other.

Tricks & Manuevers

Barrel Roll: (RT or LT tapped twice) can shake off magnetic weapons.

Brake Boost: (X+A, then release X) will boost craft forward, and shake off magnetic weapons.

Cable Snagging: If two craft are close together in front of you, and you have the Cable available, a quick double tap of RB will snag both craft together. If one craft is in front of you hit RB quickly followed by LB to snag them to the terrain.

Slingshot: With the Cable available, hit LB to attach your cable to terrain, wait for the momentum to slingshot you forward then hit LB again to release before the Cable pulls you back!

Re: Fatal Inertia FAQ

Having noticed that we had several FAQs for Fatal Inertia over the boards, I thought I'd get them all composed together in one thread, and clean them up a little bit, along with other relevant info that I feel should be given.

Full credits have been given to the original authors.

If anyone would like to add to this then please feel free to post here, if used credits will be given.

Re: Fatal Inertia FAQ
Oy I forgot your could barrel roll, I always used the boost brake to shake off magnets.

I'm a Gnome, descendant of Priapus, don't be jealous.
