What would be the point of getting this game?

Why not just play on one of the many real poker sites online?  I mean whats the point?  it's just going to be an all-in festival every time because there is no money at stake.  And what is the point of playing poker with nothing at stake?  I mean come on.  If you're just a gamerscore junkie or I guess it could be a good learning tool for people under 18 who probably can't set themselves up an account on pokerstars or something.  Just asking ya know

It's the fun factor.

I mean, you could easily say the same thing about any other game on the market. If there's nothing real at stake, why play it? You're not really saving Earth playing Halo 3, you're not really taking out terrorists, rescuing hostages and disarming a bomb in Rainbow Six: Vegas, you're not really winning the Daytona 500 in NASCAR......I could go on, but I think you get the picture.

Playing poker - at any level - is fun. At least it is for me, and I play in real money tournaments and games. The more hands that I see, whether it's online at a poker site or on the 360, can only benefit me as a poker player. It allows me to see situations on how some particular hands play out and how some people bet.

And besides, not everywhere you go will you find an All-In Fest. There are a few poker leagues in both 07 and 08 that have very realistic play despite the non-existant cash that is at stake. Also the price for losing is a little bit better compared to what you might lose on one of the more popular poker sites. Granted, yes there are free rolls but you won't see play in those being 'real' so-to-speak unless your battling it out for the bubble or already in the money and trying to earn the most for your time.

And the last final selling point is the fact that U.S. Congress hasn't yet come to a decision on skill games played over the internet. So it'd be kind of pointless to have these folks on there to find out possibly in the coming months that it's illegal all toghether to play on the internet.

Just my 2 cents.

I feel the same way. Now if your not playing online, why and how could you play poker against AI. That just seems retarded to me. And like eveybody else says, eveybody would go all in all the time when nothing is at stake.

Maybe you should be able to bet Xbox points or something, anything to get the game realistic.

Make the game more realistic? Well you can't bet real money, because gambling - especially under age - isn't legal in all states. Xbox points = real money.

Maybe when playing Rainbow Six: Vegas, you get hit with real tear gas, or real grenades or real bullets....You know, to add realism.Indifferent [:|]

Video games are about having fun and enjoying your self. You can only add in so much "realism".

I have yet to come across a table where everyone goes all in. The people I play with online play the game as it was meant to be played. Respectfully. Yes, like any other video game, you do run across the ocassional asshat. But if you know how to play the game, they typically don't last very long anyway.

And like I mentioned earlier, you can make the same claim for any video game, because nothing is ever really "at stake", so using that as an argument is truly irrelevant.

you're missing my point.  It's probably just me, but poker with nothing at stake unless you are trying to learn how to play is pointless to me.  Especially with so many poker sites where you could play for free, why spend $60 on this game.  I'd rather throw that money into an account and build a bankroll.  Saying that you should get shot and blown up to add realism to FPS games is kinda ridiculous, that wasn't my point.

Not really. It's still the fun factor, and your "stake" is anything that you have invested in the game. Again, we're not really saving the world in Halo and we're not really winning the Daytona 500 in NASCAR. So why should you spend money on those games? Because they're fun and enjoyable and I can talk with my friends.

I'm not trying to convince you to buy the game. I could care less if you do or don't. But your point of "nothing at stake" is weak, since there really isn't anything at stake in any of the games you purchase. Sorry.

ok nevermind.  You obviously don't see the point.  A lot of games are enjoyable, but I'm saying is you can sign up on full tilt poker and play for free.  So what's the difference?

poker is not very amenable to ai.
there is still a long way compared to chess.

Personally, I think it would be a great learning tool for beginners and all people alike who are not familiar with Poker. For me it would be great, I played a few rounds last night for the first time and I was hooked. it was soo much fun, I plan to buy a game but dont know which one to get :P

I  Would totally agree with the question, had I not start playing at a bar one night with one of those trivia boxes.  It was actually pretty fun!!  I, too play alot of online cash games so I see where you are coming from.  Try it out.

I agree. I mean if you wanted to learn how to play you could just try out play money. Playing online seems pretty pointless in this game and playing against computers doesn't make much sense either since poker is about playing real people not bots.
