imo cod 4 single player is is the same upper class for sp with bioshock, half life, zelda, halo CE, goldeneye, Metal Gear Solid, cod 2, super mario 64, gears of war etc etc... Man do u even remember All ghilled up, has to be one of my all time favorite levels. From the sneeking around in the high grass while enimies are right next to you, to the dogs , to the insanly long sniper shot, then the mad dash out, the copter crash, then having to carry the captian to the amusement park defending yourself against a never ending amount of enemies... man i have no clue how u can say that this is mediocre.
Ok, 2 levels, the only 2 good levels in the SP. Everything else, the story, the actions, and the ending were so predictable and cliched. Good guys go in to stop bad guys from destroying the world. Bad guys launch nukes, good guys stop them at last second (in mid flight). Final gun battle good guys almost die, and you are about to be executed when at the last possible second your allies save your life and you kill the bad guys. Good guys win. Heard it a million times, the story was not all that, thus predictable around every bend and cliched.

As for what did cod 4 add that was new... well first it was the first call of duty to break away from the WW2 era and go modern. When they went to modern warfare they added new guns and technology that was never used before in a cod. Yes i know ur going to say that this is new to call of duty but not other games so im gunna add more.
Perks- I'm pretty sure cod 4 was the first to have this. stopping power, juggernaut etc, u could set ur classes to the style of game that u play
Not the first game to have perks, the first game to have customizable perks, possibly, but COD 3 implemented them first within the classes you choose. Mines, extra grenades or smokes, airstrikes, rifle grenades, extra ammo, revive, etc.

attachments- red dot, scopes, camo, 3x grenades again the same with perks u can pick which style of game u want to play
Does Rainbow Six Vegas come to mind? First game (that I know of, could be more games out there before it) that had customizable attachments. Reflex, ACOG, 6x 12x scopes, silencers, rifle scopes, hi cap mags laser sights. So no, attachments arent anything new in the FPS world.

Sabotage gametype- this was new to cod 4 and it has become a popular gametype
Ok, so it put in a new game mode, thats revolutionary?

ranking up system/prestige- new idea...ur kills points add up over time and u rank up unlocking new weapons and perks. This created a long lasting game that wouldn't get old and stale.
been in games before COD 4. In fact COD 3 had a ranking system, an in game ranking system that gave you extra utilities as you ranked up. BF 2 also had a ranking system to it as well as Rainbow Six Vegas, from Private to Elite. Again, nothing new to the genre.

Challenges- made gameplay more interesting made u use different guns
ok, so mini achievements inside the game
kmitchell63 wrote:
Dogs- That was just crazy and don't tell me that was so predictable
Kill streak awards- Having a copter go around killing enemies for u was just insane
Yes, computer generated kills are great, and skillful, not unbalanced or anything. Besides the perks the kill streak rewards were the worst aspect of COD 4/WaW because they were so unbalanced. Plus this kind of stuff was done before in other games...BF you could actually fly the chopper and get kills yourself rather than have a computer generated handicap do it for you

I can keep going on but i'll stop here cause i think i got my point across... sorry for writing so much guys.. all of this is giving me the erge to go play cod 4 again lol
Everything, other than challenges and sabotage had been done before in other games prior to COD 4, and if you had been reading what I first said I had stated to name things that COD 4 did that have never been done before in the GENRE, as and FPS, not in the series. But I should have expected that from a COD 4 fanboy who thinks it invented everything. Go back to your arcadey game with its unbalances and handicaps, and we'll stick to our game that takes skill and aiming to get a kill rather than spray and pray with an M4 or G36
COD...the poor mans BF
