sorry to the people who dont like it, i completely respect your opinions and you have every right to have them

this topic is for people to discuss why they liked the game, what they liked about it

the main reason i created this topic is because im a little fed up of reading through pages of flaming just so i can read a few peoples genuine views

so guys what did you like?

This does seem to be one of those games that inflames passions.

It's one of those Love/Hate games.

The people that love it REALY love it, and those that hate it absolutely DESPISE it.

 

I'm in the LOVE IT crowd.

 

I like how this game is an excellent mix of Action, Strategy and RPG... I love the setting... and I love the premise - being just a mercenary for hire by either side of the war.

 

But having played (& loved) every single Dynasty Warriors game, Samurai Warriors game, Kessen game, Dynasty Tactics game, Romance of the Three Kingdoms game... then it's no suprise for me that I really like this latest offering from Koei/Omega force.

I love games that make me use what little grey matter I have to wina  battle as much as I love mindless shooters :)

I can see how some people might find it repetative... but I think this game will have great replay value.

People level the same critism against most of Koei's titles, but once you get hooked... your hooked.

 

You can always make up a new mercenary, and commit yourself to using entirely different troop types, build them up in a different way, take a different side for whichever battle etc etc.

I am also in the I love it crowd,  At first I have to admit oh boy another Dynasty Warrior type game.  I mean don't get me wrong I love them, but the last one seemed a lil dull after awhile.  However after trying out the demo last night, I was impressed.  During the heat of battle it was great to figure out how to win with the troops you were controlling. I liked the change in game play, and the premise.  It's refreshing a change of pace from KOEI/Omega. 

i have a question for the people that like the game as well. what was your preferred troop type to lead into battle? i preferred looking for the greatsword group. they had a nice somewhat ranged attack, an attack for the mounted enemies, and a normal boost damage move.. as the question stated what did you prefer to use?

i loved kessen and this just seems to be an awesome upgrade on that original premise!

i dont think it will becouse didnt the ps3 already get this and it didnt have it?

I myself liked cavalry but it  wasn't all that great when a large regiment got down to a few troops. The crossbowmen would probably have been my favorite though if you didn't run out of arrows...because once you do, you're gonna get slaughtered if you don't high tail it out of there. I think in the demo I got the spear and mace books as well but I never got to try them.

 

As for the above post, the game IS already out in Japan (Not sure if it's just on the PS3 or both it and the 360 over there) and has been since the end of August, so if that version doesn't have multiplayer I doubt ours will. Multiplayer would be a pretty sweet thing though if they did it right, but because battle fields are so large it really would take something like 16 people on each side to make it fun (if it was a head to head thing)

I have never ever in my life play a game like this or even heard of one but I'm always downloading new demos and scince the first time I play it I loved it. I like how it is a mix of strategic, action and RPG. But the most I like was strategic. I also like how you are like the boss and can comand what ever you want. The only thing I didn't like was that sometimes when I was in the middle of my group fighting I was not able to see myself. But still I'm getting it the first chanse I get.

Will definitely give it a rent. Didn't really like how the camera and mini map was set up in the demo, but other than that it was pretty enjoyable.

im in the "love it" crowd to.

I downloaded the demo the second it was released on market place and was a little let down by it at first, but that was due to not giving it a fair chance (i was running late for work so just got into a fight as quick as i could). Once i got back from work i decided that since i had time to spare and didnt have to rush that i'd give it another go.

Was very impressed by it, it was a great game and their WAS skill involved, i attacked cavalry with my foot soldiers... (well more like the attacked me) and my troops got wiped out, i rallied together some sort of piek men (spears i think) and gave the cavalry quite a good fight. Archers were good to from a distance but lacked any skill in a melee.

It gets a thumbs up from me, i'll be buying it and cant wait to play online. Only thing i wasnt to keen on was the time limits, but i can work around that.

Time limits? You mean the days things? If I remember right you can only do 2 battles in the demo, and the first one has unlimited time, and the second one (which had a time limit of 4 days) I was able to finish on the first day so...
I mean yeah, I'm sure later missions will have some hard to beat day limits but what was so bad about them from what you played in the demo?

I'm looking foward to what kind of armor and gear you can customize your character with. As for fav units, I liked using the cavlavry and crossbow men.

All of the Kessen series Koei released appear to have gameplay similar to this one.  They all got 8/10ish.  I'm looking forward to this game on the 360 - it will be a refreshing change of pace.

It already looks like this will be way to hard of a game for most casual gamers to get into - I expect to see some fairly stupid comments on the boards as a result.

God damnit......this game makes me mad ...............I love this game, but Now I need to decide between CoD4 and Bladestorm. I can't get both because all my other money is going towards Mass Effect, and there is nothing on this earth that will stop me from getting ME. But anyway, I LOVE this game.

Loving this game.

The request missions are quite cool, nice way of earning some extra dosh... although a couple of times the act of me going for the request has cause me to fail the mission because I get cut-off or can't push toward the objective on time.

Throughly enjoying it, yes it is a little repetitive but that what you expect from Koei, hit it for 6 hours straight y-day and really got into it, few minor glitches but a soldif 7/8 /10 for me.

I Really like this game a lot, just today i was killing masses of french with my cavalry, i was finishing of another poor squad of swordmen when the dirty french flanked me with a charge of cavalry with spears and handed me my a**.

Im not really that vindictive a person but next time im gonna kick thier a**
